STÄRKEN AAC Installation Begins! | This Saves us thousands! | S02 Ep15| The Armstrong Family

- We begin Installation of Stärken AAC ( Auto Aerated Concrete) block. The 1st step was to get our Crew and Foreman trained and certified. This was not a problem as the company provides free training by highly skilled technician over 2 days. We decided to use AAC vs other building material because of the durability and the ease of use. Once completed we will end up saving close to 400k pesos off total cost of build.
Now you may ask, what is total price per block. But it's actually better to compare total price per sqm finished! Each sqm of block is actually 30 percent cheaper than traditional hollowblock and it's much stronger and durability is amazing. That's just the up front savings!
We will continue to save throughout build with time spent by plumber and electrician due to its ease of installation of conduit and water lines.
Not to mention the reduction in our energy bills! Less heat entering house means less time running AC and more savings !

Please return to your streaming format. I have been following your channel weekly expecting exciting updates on your project. You will have more viewers with one upload a week with solid contents than two uploads with poor contents. Just my observations.
Did you know that takes a more than a week to gather those clips and hours of video to shorten into 25 minutes😱 took me whole night to edit.. did you know! we do not just upload everyday video as you notice? Uploading videos. just to have content to make money! We dont do that.. As me, ! (donna) and papa Richard! We make video not for only (content ) to make Money! We are proud of every upload we make because ppl are looking forward for it and excited to watch and learn from it.. We love our videos we are proud of it.. 🤗👑
Because we know THAT we work hard for it. Even how busy we are.. We still make effort to make good content and balance outside youtube life.. We are very busy ppl we meet ppl (Subscribers) without camera. We are Busy and have other stuff than making content too😊. We apologise if this still not enough for your standard...
@@TheRichardArmstrong Don’t mind your vlog bashers, been following your vlog since you started building your 1st house, they don’t know how hard it is to vlog and at the same time thinking about how to build your current house 🏠. Good luck with your project and continue your format regarding your blogging, twice a week 😊
@@TheRichardArmstrong pde po mag suggest ng morning routine nyo bago sumabak sa paggawa or night routine after your busy day sa construction, kung meron man.. Or how you spend your rest days..

@@TheRichardArmstrong...'swerte ng mga worker nio Ate Donna, may sweldo na BONUS❤ pa ung "dagdag kaalaman". 👏👏👏😊
Richard don't change a thing only do what makes you happy and makes it work best for you some viewers just don't get it. Your doing just fine and thank you for all your hard work and effort. Some viewers just need to be patient. God bless your family Richard stay safe and healthy.
Remember those old crazy glue commercial’s? These Blocks with it’s own compound remind me of the old commercials, this stuff won’t crumble and decay away over time .
Anyone that knows anything about Swiss and German engineering would never doubt something that dates back to the origins of the horse and Buggy.,just incredible stuff, very impressive! AAC is almost as easy as cutting tiles for flooring, really neat how in seconds you can contour the cuts for electrical etc. simple! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
Stay safe guys
I hope one day the Armstrong family will establish their own company to build more this awesome house build
Soon! Actually. It is indeed in the works!
Wow so awesome 👏
@@TheRichardArmstrong There is always room for one more honest, hardworking and knowlegeable small business owner/s.
Why not making videos
I'm from Russia. We have been building from such blocks for 60 years. They protect very well from the cold in winter and from the heat in summer. (We get -30 degrees in winter). A lot of houses are being built using this technology. We have about 80 factories around the country that produce them. We build without columns, since we do not have earthquakes. The wall turns out to be a whole circle. Thickness 17-25 inches.Very warm in winter!! There are many useful tools for working with these blocks. Under the electrician and plumbing it is convenient to work as a milling machine. Very speeds up the work. And if the master is of a high level and the wall turns out to be even, then you can make a layer of plaster only 2-4mm. It is fast and saves material. Blocks are made using natural gas. There is a lot of gas in Russia and the price is low. The price of 1m3 is only $60-80
Can I use those blocks to build a water front wall?
@@Montevideo99 No, concrete is better.
@@llco9608 Thanks. From 160 meters long of waterfront, we built already 50 meters. 110 to go.
I enjoy everything you are doing, I have a wild idea, that has worked for everything ,earth quakes cyclones typhoons etcetera
How about earthquakes, Philippines experience constant ground movements from mild to major earthquakes? another thing is too much water saturation from non stop rain during typhoon seasons?
Richard, from equipment training to technical training. I love how you take care of your guys and help them improve! They are lucky to have you and i hope they realize that as well :)
Much accomplished in just a short amount of time! Thank you Armstrong Family, it was a pleasure meeting you all in person, on site! Looking forward to the next vlog already!
No Thanks Again for all the help and especially for continuing to be innovative!
I just wanna say that this channel is my favorite “Filipino” channel. The way you guys are treating your workers with food and equipment are unique and definitely needed.
If you want I’m sure you guys will be very very successful in the future. Anyway tell Richard to rest a little sometimes also 😅.
I’m so glad Richard also looks to be doing so much better mentally also.
His building skills are just so impressive!
And for the editing.. These videos are very well made 👍😊. Please don’t be bothered by rude comments 😉. God Bless!
What a great process. This has been around for a long time but hasn't caught on the way it should.
Thanks for highlighting just how good and easy it is to build with.
👍💪
I’m so invested watching your home build videos! It’s awesome!👍🏼💪🏼
You guys are amazing to watch and such an inspiration with all your hard work. I especially like how you’re working with the locals to expand their knowledge and skills. So much love for both you and your husband.
With proper tools, you can easily see the difference with speed and precision on how to build or construct things. You can now create your own construction firm (licensed it! make it happen!) do some projects with your Filipino crew. Win-win situation, you help them grow. More blessings to come.
Great to see new materials and technology coming here. Love to see you trying to make things better for all. In so many ways. Hope to follow your lead in a couple years.
Hello Donna you are a rock star keep it up when my life feels heavy your sweet and fun spirit lifts me up!
After 4 years of watching the building methods in the PH compared to here in the USA and being a 3rd generation carpenter/contractor I was terrified at what I saw over and over again on other blogs as far as methods and accuracy and well quality..Your 2 projects have given me soooo many ideas and put to rest it can be done in a more substantial way as far as what I was used to , thankx, love the videos..
Richards little stomping dance 😂 keep up the great work guys!!
Thank s for.sharing learning a lot for soon plan construction of our house
Enjoyed watching your vlog Armstrong family. It seems like the AAC is a good product to use. Can't wait for your next vlog. But no rush I know you are very busy 😊😊😊. Have a great weekend ❤
can't wait to see the end result..good luck!!
Thank god someone is sharing other building methods than hollow blocks haha. It's time for an upgrade of construction methodologies and knowledge in the Philippines.
Wow! Those blocks sure are tough and very versatile. Can be sawed and easier to stack than ordinary CHB. Impressive👏👏👍👍
That. Was great Donna you give job to the nearby community at this point in time a lot are jobless, life is a bit hard, for them that was a big help.say hi to your hubby and hello to young Ella,Richard doesn't mind the heat under the burning sun.
👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️. Hard working couple…wishing u guys all the best! Stay safe 🙂
Enjoyed watching your progress, alot of future builders will save money watching, salamat.
Donna you are simply a rock star and I am impressed with your fun attitude I wish I was bit like you!
Ah yes, great fun with her dog!😂
Glad you were able to source and use Stärken's AAC blocks. Initial costs for these may be higher than regular blocks but if one actually sees the long term benefits, those AAC blocks will be a lot more cost-efficient as regular blocks tend to break up or deteriorate as the years pass. Excellent choice there. 👍
i Worked in Germany 25 years ago an worked with AAC that means i stand by what i know about them which is a lot, i will use them when i come over very soon.
Lol. Psst. I got!!! ..........you'll actually save quite a bit believe it or not!! Especially long term!!!! Well we will here because our electricity is so dangerous high. We look at being able to cut bill in half with thermal Insulation it provides
I'm waiting for one of my houses to be sold its on the final part, signatures etc all done. am in contact with KAREN an hopefully i get the plot three doors down from you on your next project. i have things to speak to you about it might save more MONEY.
Oh wow. Lol. So yes. I am building g mine, the neighbours to south as well pit there! Lol
Great video. Thank you.
Awesome video, guys 🙌.

Sir Richard, your build is now in demand in your area there in San Vicente, IS. You got one 600 sqm and another 1200 sqm. Your the man!!! 👏👍👏👍
Been waiting to see starken blocks going in! Love the adhesion of the blocks with cement, so much tidier than normal Filipino block work. Was there any damp proof membrane fitted/ if needed. Well Impressed with product. No rebar just wall ties. Perfect!
This is so cool, refreshing, and informative to watch! I'd definitely consider starken aac once I get the money to build a house back home in the Philippines.
Very informative. I hope an Armstrong Construction Inc will soon be established. Tapos may pa training kayo sa mga local karpenteros sa atin. Nakakatuwa silang tingnan na bagong gamit ang ginagamit nila, high-tech na!😊
I Built my house in Texas, USA ( just 10 miles North of the border with México) . I also used AAC 4 Block from Hebel.
8 inches tall, 12 inches thick, & 24 inches long. Importing the brick made at the factory near Monterrey, México. The Factory was only 175 south of the US border. Used Insul-Deck for the flooring, used 6 sack concrete 6 inch deapth ( roughly 6,600 psi ) followed by 2cd level of Hebel AAC 4 block. 12 Ft ceiling on 1st level & 10 Ft on second level. Savings on electric was phenomenal.
You are going to be very happy with results. Due to Earthquakes in the Philippines better not to use AAC 2 ( as is will crack the block, but the thin set mortar will hold fast ).
very inspiring,,,getting lots ideas as this year me and my filipino girlfriend will be buying land and building house,,,keep up the goodwork
😮Wow nice
thank you AAC for teaching filipinos, this vlog I would not like to miss-Armstrong, nogt only informative, but so encouraging as well, the sense of humor and the true dedication of giving new tech knowledge to those workers that will also alleviate their livelihood, thank you
What's more inspiring to me is seeing them being able to afford new motorbikes and houses and support their families. I've done everything I can to ensure steady long term work for them and we do everything we can to pay them above average wages and bonuses! We are all human. And these guys are like family
NEW TECHNOLOGY UNLOCK .... AMAZING
Ohhh bago sa paningin ko to ah mhie 😅 wow Hnd na ako magugulat pag mag Karoon na kau ng sarili nyong construction company 👏👏👏 u learn everyday something for building your own home ❤
I've heard of this product and we will seriously consider looking at this when we build our house in the Philippines
Woow nice that they have free training for the workers
Aloha…sending the ARMSTRONG ❤ LOVE God Bless
Great vid
Also one more time this was funny when how the guys was learning that guy try to pick it up and slammed the cement block
nice! 👍
Amazing
Eto yung napapanood ko sa ibang bansa. 😍 i want this for my house
Hi Dona Congrats 👏👏 good job 👍
Watching from Malaysia❤
I love ur videos
Okay sorry I like to comment all the way through the video cuz this is very interesting also love the Armstrong family. Okay what I want to say is when Donna said it's supposed to be a pink toilet LOL
That was so funny miss hearing her jokes lol
Galing naman... May pa seminar
Hi Richard and Donna ~ Congratulations on the build! Also would like to thank you both for sharing your knowledge and expertise on new ways to build in the Philippines. Hopefully one day we'd get to meet you guys as we recently bought a property in San Vicente and would love to be able to get some insight on how life is there and materials wise, how easy to source for our future build. Power on and keep inspiring others as you have both inspired myself and husband ~ Myla
Oh wow. Congratulations guys. San Vicente is a beautiful and peaceful city!!!
WOW Richard you just got slapped into the Future with the hollow blocks. P S Slapped into the Past/yesterday or Slapped into the future is a west coast logging/construction term in Canada on the west coast. What it means- Slapped into yesterday (Darn i want to see this done) Slapped into the future it is Amazing and now i see what the end result is. LOL. Take care Great Job!
built many houses using this type of method in the UK, two course of thermolite brick set in mortar off the slap to get bang on level ,5 course of block on top to get joist height,, blocks used were twice the height and length of standard block, standard block equal 10 course of block and two brick to joist height,, was interesting to use another method of building as you never used your brick trowel ,tool used looked like a sweet scoop with teeth in it, all block work went up to full height ,joist height to wall plate height ,and peaks then dropped back down and added a skin of brickwork using mortar , method was tried out as other trades could get inside the house quicker whilst you were doing external brickwork, similiar operation with timber framed buildings, (method was called thin joint blockwork)
my humble opinion... put exmet/brickmesh every 3 or 4 layer for a solid bonding wall
That's impressive for the adhesion. If I were to use the AAC in my build I think I would use a stainless steel mesh screen on the outside wall before skim coating for added shear.
An add more Lime for movement
We plan of building a house in Bohol which is prone to earthquakes. Do you think AAC is a good build?
Yes. Better and safer then chb
@@lizalim3840 AAC is best in earthquake zones. Most buildings in Japan are using them due to earthquake requirements.
It's not needed
It had been a while since ive been on here but progress looks really good. Aac block looks interesting, what's the wear n tear like on it, the life span on the product, wgats it like for earthquakes, storms, floods natural disasters in general. Ive never seen it before so im interested to know more. Looks versatile watching the guy sawing it to size or shape. Looking well guys keep up the awesome work.
swerte ng mga worker nyo,,nagkaroon pa sila ng dagdag kaalaman sa pag install ng AAC..
Hi 👋 Mama Donna, Papa Richard and Ella. Ang TIBAY ng AAC Block, infareness. And the owner nag visit talaga.
All the best! ❤️
Galing
Dapat pala meron din dito sa region 2 ang gagawa ng mga original at quality na gagawa ng mga building dito orig.at matibay.
A very very pleasant day Ms Donna and Sir Richard. We're from Albay. We're planning to build our house this year. I really really really want to have cement finish concrete floor just like yours in the 1st house that you built. But my husband said that it should be done by someone who is skilled in doing it. Unfortunately, we dont know one.😔😪
just seen on vid they have the right Expansion ties, so that means they stock them, been looking for a web site in Philippines that sells them. Onwards an Upwards
FYI I saw another video on laying AAC and they built a small box and attached a notched trowel to it so they placed it over the block, filled it with Mudd and slid it down the row. It is much faster than doing each block individually and more accurate.
Wish I could remember where I saw it to provide a link.
Yes. We will eventually make one but the notch size in video is 1/4 inch and AAC is only 1/8
i think i saw it in my PI Dream vlog
Mr. Armstrong please establish your own construction Firm. I would love to see that soon
Go ahead Richard with all your knowledge you expired everybody in the Philippines how to build that is great and that expector is going to give everybody or something like that I can't understand Filipino but seems that way like jobs God bless you guys helping community also your Neighbors God bless you guys Armstrong family also your guys workers🙏💯🤜🤛👍✌️
You mean inspired
I just finished watching Tim K recent video and it was hillarious,i think you guys are in the category of Bob the builder lol😂
Napanood kona itong materyales na ito sa ibang BANSA. ang bilis lang ikabit.walang kahirap hirap.
Here in Uk we called it breeze block or thermalite block.
wow
👍👍
Y-Tong invented AAC. A Swedish company that was bought out by Hebel of Germany in 2000.
hi Donna and Richard , thank you for your very informative vlogs, esp on the AAC blocks.
Can you give us idea on the price of the AAC blocks ?
and contacts for purchase?
thanks very much.
Cguro yong mga worker mo madam natuto na din mag english nahawa na sa mister mo po😊, matagal na subscriber here ngayon lang nakapag comment, ganda ng place at sa pinagawang bahay❤
wow, AAC baka naman discount for Richard hehe
Our AAC project came in 18% cheaper and would have been 21% but we did a few things over and above.
The difference in our construction is… we were told by the Canadian building code not to install onto beams… pour the floor first. Obviously many ways to build… enjoying yours
Like is being done too in Europe.
1st pouring concrete plate
2nd installing 1st layer of blocs with concrete on the concrete plate.
3rd a layer of epdm on the 1st layer of blocs, to avoid layers above can absorb humidity.
4th than continuing bloc layers with glue, and every 2 layers metal nets in the glue.
@@Ben-rw7wg thanks... :)
I’d like to use this blocks for my house project.
Nice, We have same Toilet lol, easy to clean, It’s so funny We did out door Wash house CR, Because needed it during construction, It’s like I’m watching our build All over again, Yes the floors slow you up, lol, Looking great Gang, Belus
i want this kind of hollowblocks at my home..
The savings from AC energy demands should help quite a bit in the Philippines. The building industry there should adopt and train for this building technology, many new houses and buildings in Europe and the USA have been using this for years.
❤
Hi from Sacramento ca when can we expect your next video
😱😱
I am from Tokyo.. watching your blog from the start…building your new house again is exciting…I wonder if your husband can build me tiny house in our province too…just like a cute house for my retirement in the Philippines…
We would love to
But would have to be near🤣🤣
I left Philippines in 1997, our place used to be like that open field, rice ,vegetables and a lot more. We used to play in mud, chasing dragonflies. But now it's surrounded by houses you've couldn't even see the mountains anymore ....very sad.😢
there are still places like that. u cant stop progress. the city or place needs improvements. thats why they are called city so they can grow. there is a place for planting trees, rice and many more,
Bro! Your wife is something else. It's time for an upgrade for sure haha haha.
Hey Paul. Time for your fat a$$ to stfu! I'm sure you're mom must be proud of you! The only thing needed to be upgraded is your shovanis attitude. I think its time you look in mirror and see why you're still single. And if not single. You should be. I'm sure your woman is chatting other men while you're here on youtube. She probably already has 5 men on side. So why don't you focus on yourself first rather than criticise people. You must be American with that attitude. High and mighty. But wouldn't say that in Facebook would you? You hide here!!! Chicken shi.....
Regards from Virac Catanduanes. We are from Finland building there. I would like to ask from where you bought the steel cladding. I am not going to use it as form for floor but our rooftop needs strong cannopy to support solar panels and solar water heater and at same time give shade. I think steel cladding is best becauce it needes so few suporting structures under it. One idea is allso to collect rain water for washing from the canopy.
Soon this couple will be a construction specialist.
Tagal nman mag upload po. Been waiting.
Maswerte laying mga trabahador kasi may nagtuturo sa inyo na magagamit niyo sa abroad.
NICE VIDEO. . PARENG RICHARD IS A GOOD PERSON.
No reo steel needed through the blocks, like hollow block needs? Just those brackets at the ends of the adjoining walls? Then usually it will be hard plastered or covered? I should be patient and wait and see.
