Abbie I am grandma living in Aotearoa. I didn’t start tramping until I was 49. I’m now over 80 and as I have health problems I can’t tramp anymore but I still walk as much as I can. I love you and your videos. Your love of trees and animals and your willingness to share your struggles are admirable. When you abandon your own “wants” and recognise the present moment you are then truly free and whole and embracing the real you. Arohanui
I wouldn't be too surprised if Abbie ends up disliking this shelter tbh. I had the one person for a while and whilst it was phenomenally light for the price, it was terrible with condensation and just felt too delicate, too flappy and unstable in any kind of wind. Probably fine in California but a bit of a gamble in the UK!
I once nearly bought a Salewa single skin tent but contacted the company who advised against getting it because lightweight single skin tents are not suitable for high humidity environments such as the UK and are more suited for lightweight backpacks for skiers in dry mountain air conditions. When i thought about it it made sense.
Favourite Abbie moment ever..... The Door... Ohhhh (11:48) That made my day! Actually a really great review Abbie. A properly honest useful review. Thank you.
Hi I had the one I had to sell it in the end as condensation was an absolute killer. Countless times I have woken up to a wet sleeping bag. Shame really as it was super light
I'm interested to know how ? In theory, condensation is supposed to slip through the mesh connecting the bathtub to the fly, so you shouldn't wake up wet ?
@@tt-of4xv heat rises and when it hits the cold rain fly turns into water which collects as little droplets. The mesh is supposed to help with that but I found it did not help much at all.the only thing the mesh did was let rain water in. I camped out in a heavy rain storm and the water started to pool by the bottom of my tent causing it to splash through the mesh. Real shame as I did really like this tent.
Great review. This is a tent I looked at just out of curiosity of ultra lights available in the UK and seeing this honestly I don't think it would be for me. While cheaper than other brands its is still a lot of money for tie out points to be failing like that. Plus add on the height of an inflated mat and your sleeping bag is definitely touching the sides , so wet sleeping bag/quilt.
I am considering this tent because I have found my X-mid Pro to be WAY too translucent. Besides the lack of privacy and feeling so exposed, the moonlight and morning sun shines right into my eyes and makes it hard to sleep. With the Gossamer Gear 2 being half the price of my Durston tent, I’m willing to give it a try.
I like the ultra light weight ed ness (?) of this type of tent but I have spent a night in a single skin tent in the uk...one by Rab and woke up with condensation raining off the inside of the tent so not for me but I think that's a very fair review.
Hi Abby, love your content. Right up my street 😊. But hey I have an eye for detail . So this is a friendly call out. You putting your v pegs in the wrong way round. I know it seems the correct way you use them but the wee notch goes out the way to catch the guy lines. Keep up the great videos and thanks so much.
Well reviewed, thanks Abbie 👍 Like you say, the 1800hh is the issue unless there's some extra magic with the fabric. The plastic sheet should completely solve it for the base. Sensible price. The porches look as big as the internal area, which is good.
Correction & Clarification (ca 9 min) - Denier is not a measure of density of weave, it is the relative weight of the yarn from which the fabric is made. Basically, for the same material, the higher the Denier, the thicker (heavier per unit length) the yarn. The number is the mass in grams of a 9000 meter length of said yarn.
Search "Tent Fabrics" "westonfront" for an explanation and review of all the common tent fabrics and what the measurements (such as Denier or Hydrostatic Head) mean to a tent user.
This is a really entertaining video,,I loved the fact you used it as a windbreak 😂 I'm all for people going for ultra light gear ,,but being 6ft 4 and large in girth,,I always go for something large 🦣,,comfort and sturdyness,,but yeah excellent video,, thanks for making me laugh and smile this morning,,all the best 😊
It looks like you are at Loch Morlich but it is usually impossible to be out of sight of other people there. I expect you sometimes get people rubbernecking your videos and you have to 'politely' give them the bums rush and do that bit again when they are gone. Loch Garten? I am very impressed by your explanation of the drawbacks of a single skin tent in damp and rainy Scotland.
I have the double wall version of that one. Cant speak for the pro single wall version but in terms of pitching and space it does look similar to double wall. Obviously this will be way lighter.

Great review! Thank you for doing it.
This was an entertaining gear video. I laughed at the hand signals 😄Appreciate the detailed review. Thanks for sharing 👍

So good to see you Abbie. You are so inspiring 🎉

Thanks for the review. You're so funny! But about the tent, I worry about the basin being substantial enough. That just sounds too thin.

Thanks for your review👍
Merci beaucoup !
Fun review 😀👍
Very like the 3flu?

Abby where is Anna these days? Haven't seen her for ages?
Thanks Abbie, but we can all see it dancing behind you in that light breeze, saying, don't buy me!
Currently, $320 is about £253.
👍👍⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️👍👍
Cool tent but I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of weight for less focused use of it ensuring it is in the right place, weather etc.
👋👍🤗❤️
That's quite a bad pitch there :/ Interesting review otherwise !
$320 for a portable mould factory? You might as well use a wheely bin bag. Overpriced nonsense.
Surprised to see an experienced camper carrying their tent externally at the bottom of their rucksack.
