I've been saving up for this tent for quite a while with my OV membership... but the problem is I keep finding other OV products to buy! One day I'll have this beauty to review. Such a great informational video. Much love from Maine.
Totally agree Floki! My initial savings for the Shadowlight BP turned into a Fortius tent purchase. I'll just have to get the Shadowlight before my AT hike next year.
Tried setting the 1p without watching first and did okay, but the video really did help. Made my own ground sheet and packed it back in the stuff sack with plenty of room. So light, I love it. Now to put it to the test this weekend.
It's been really exciting to watch you guys grow since the debut of the first product line to now. I love the design thinking that went into these tents. Another addition to my gear list.
I just purchased my Fortius 2P for a thru-hike of the Florida Trail. I was most concerned with weather (thunderstorms/wind), so after seeing the features of this tent, it was a must-have. It also is 1/2 the weight of my old tent. My back already thanks you and your team Tayson!
Could you do a video on where the extra 140 dollars has been spent compared to the Lanshan ? Reading the specs the materials look to be not as robust also.
R&D guys have done a great job! The attention to detail is spot on, I'll getting one shipped to Australia shortly. Really impressed with all the new gear, its innovative. Looks quality, and at really competitive pricing.
Woo Hoo! Loved this walk through! ⛺ Fortius on the horizon for this Hike-Thru couple. We just returned yesterday from a 17 day trip in Oregon with far-too- heavy a gear load. My SHADOWLIGHT 45L BP hadn't returned to me yet (sadly) from being restored from a frame malfunction. So I had to take a heavy "other brand" BP . Pain from weight insued. My house sitter said my S.L. pack arrived just hours after we left. Next 2 legs of the O.C.T. in Sept.22AD will be U.L. freedom with your highly functioning/enjoyable gear! Thanks Tayson & crew!!!
One of the things that I love about these tents are the Ridgeline inside of it to hang stuff. I've been a hammock camper for years now. So the Ridgeline helps to lay flat in a hammock but I use it to hang anything I need to hang up. Like a peak shelf and a Ridgeline organizer so you'll have a place to put your water bottle, snacks, cell phone etc. Another thing I like is you can put a tie out points anywhere you might need it. Never owned a high-end tent before. But If I was going to buy one it would be this one. From what I can tell this is a well thought out design. Great job on the tent y'all
Super excited to receive my Fortius 1 person tent. Going on a Flight to a hiking trail and camping overnight using this tent and the KotaUL backpack is on my Bucket list.
Great looking tent, I have been excited to see what the R&D tent that has been in the videos would turn into. Does the 1p fit the same pad as the 2p? It didn’t say and you didn’t show it in the video
Awesome to see you guys coming out with single-later trekking pole tents! Really love the arctic color. Curious, besides having more tie off points, where these tents stand out when compared with the Lanshan 1/2 pro and Gossamer Gear The one/two tents.
@@canoehead2606 My thought too, however that isn't always a bad thing. There are issues about "The One" that I'm not a fan of, that this tent appears to do better with. I'm sure when designing this tent they looked at similar tents on the market and found a better solution that works for them. It would be interesting to hear what those points were.
Regardless I'm a huge fan of OV, the products I have (shadowlight, dominion 1P, clothes, sleeping bag/top-quilt) are top quality and haven't failed me yet. I'm sure I could expect the same from this tent.
Correct. The back side is meant more for ventilation than for use as a "vestibule." The front vestibule is more than large enough to cover 1 person's gear.
Do these come with a footprint? If not, do you offer a ultralight footprint separately on the website. If you have suggestions for DIY ultralight footprints that works too!
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Lanshan Pro 1person because I only need 1 trekking pole to set it up. Do you guys think you'll be making a version using just one pole to set up? id be willing to wait to see yours if that the case.
Have you checked out the Outdoor Gear review channel on the Luke's review? There was some sagging in the material. Buy the way, do you guys export products to South Africa?
We chose Nylon due to it's extra strength over polyester. To reach our target weight and performance goals we chose this vs. a 20D or heavier polyester with similar strength. In our own field testing by simply setting up your tent and then re-tensioning it 20-30 minutes later, sagging hasn't been an issue. We recommend using the head and foot guy out points for added livable space, which also helps with any kind of sagging.
The 2 colors available will be Arctic or Blue. They are currently available to preorder at $65 off (at the time of this comment). Check them out here: outdoorvitals.com/collections/fortius-trekking-pole-tents
Yes they are 25 inches when inflated. The tent is 48" in the end corners of the tent, but there is quite a bit of room & space to fit in the 25 inch pads stillin the middle of the tent!
I think this video finally convinced me. I've been stuck between a Durstan xmid 2P (I have the 1P), replacing my Copper Spur which the wind took or the Fortius. Your Fortius has features I wish the Durstan had.
If the two person ever gets redesigned I would love to see a bathtub floor that’s 50 maybe 52 inches just so that it could fit 2 25 inch pads. Oh than that they both look fantastic

i was most interested in seeing how close your feet come to touching the tent. but it was never shown.
Woo Hoo!

This looks like a Lanshan ?
It looks like a hexpeak

Great looking tents. I love he designs and features in the 1 and 2 person options. Well done! Crow✌️
Just bought the single. Looking forward to get it out on the PCT section hike in Spring!
Great!
Really nice design details! I've never looked at Sylnylon tents. Everything I have is DCF, but this is tempting.
Would have been nice to see the large pad in the 1P like you did the 2P.
i fear there is a reason for this. i've yet to see a video showing what it's like to actually lay down inside the 1P.
The one person tent will fit our long/wide pad and our 2p will fit two long pads.
Looks like a cross between the SMD Skyscape Trekker and the Lightheart Gear Solong 6. I like the two pullouts at head/foot end.
Do these tents come with interior pockets or loops for storing gear?
So the Fortius 2 is just a Lanshan 2 ?
Great looking tent, I have been excited to see what the R&D tent that has been in the videos would turn into. Does the 1p fit the same pad as the 2p? It didn’t say and you didn’t show it in the video
The 1p will fit 1 of the longwide pads easily. The 2p can handle 2 of those pads.
Awesome to see you guys coming out with single-later trekking pole tents! Really love the arctic color.
Curious, besides having more tie off points, where these tents stand out when compared with the Lanshan 1/2 pro and Gossamer Gear The one/two tents.
I was wondering the same. I use “The One” and this tent seems to be a cut out of it.

@@kyle_does_stuff OV is awesome. I own the Ventus Hoodie and it goes on every trip. Cheers to your adventures!
@@canoehead2606 likewise!
Where’s the video of pitching the tent? Love this tent but I’d like to see the set up first
Coming soon! We just have to finish putting it together. It is already filmed.
Just to be sure….there is no way to access the backside “vestibule” on the Fortius 1p?
Correct. The back side is meant more for ventilation than for use as a "vestibule." The front vestibule is more than large enough to cover 1 person's gear.
Would you recommend to carefully folding it and rolling to put it back in the transport bag? Or just stuffing the bag is perfact?
You can just stuff it.
Maybe I missed it in the vid, but what are the weights of the 1p and 2p?
The 2p is 2 lbs 2.5 oz, and the 1p is 1 lb 9.4 oz.
Weight:
1.6 lbs (includes stakes, lines, etc. ) 1P,
2.25 (includes stakes, lines, etc.) 2P
Its on the website

It does not come with one. If you feel the need for one you could use a sheet of Tyvek.

How did this do with condensation on the AT? I am in NC and VA usually. So wet.
Cost?

Will there be a frame setup for free standing setups?
The Fortius will not have a framed version. However, we offer other free standing tent models.
Maybe I missed it but what is the height range the trekking poles need to be set at?
118 cm
Bought yr backpack great bit of kit will order a tent
Thanks for your support! Glad you are enjoying your backpack.
will there be any other colors available and what is the retail going to be?
The 2 colors available will be Arctic or Blue. They are currently available to preorder at $65 off (at the time of this comment). Check them out here: outdoorvitals.com/collections/fortius-trekking-pole-tents
Hey OV, how strong are the extra tie offs?? Guylines.
Off topic, but what sunglasses are those?
Bex :)
RUclips seems to have called the last segment "Foot Pads" haha.
Are those pads still 25" wide after inflation? I remember reading the stated inner width as 48"
Yes they are 25 inches when inflated. The tent is 48" in the end corners of the tent, but there is quite a bit of room & space to fit in the 25 inch pads stillin the middle of the tent!

Where’s the how to pitch video?
It is coming soon!
Thanks for telling me your height. At 6 5 there is a world of gear that does me no good.
great review!
Thanks!
