  • The North Atlantic right whale is critically endangered, with fewer than 350 remaining on the planet, and scientists predict the species could become extinct within 20 years if more isn’t done to protect them. A new documentary from NOVA, “Saving the Right Whale,” follows a dedicated team of marine biologists and rescuers on Cape Cod as they explore the mystery of the species’ shrinking population and fight to keep them from going extinct. Nadine Pequeneza, the film’s producer, and Dr. Charles “Stormy” Mayo, a senior scientist and director of the Center for Coastal Studies’ Right Whale Ecology Program joined Sue O’Connell to discuss.
