    I'm guessing that the heating step is to ensure that the core is completely dry before installing the termination.

      It might be one of the reasons, but the main reason is to make the cable straight and even, before installation.

    Im a asistent cable jointer and have a experience of six years on 132kv, 220kv,400kv. i worked in qatar for six years. If you need asistent cable jointer then i would be much happy to work with you

      the semi-con bonded to XLPE layer, no cutting machine could remove it evenly, and might make the XLPE thinner by removing too much of the insulation. Glass cutting is the safest way, but time consuming.
