- ANOTHER INSTALLMENT OF OUR BIG NEWS!!! MEETING WITH RICHARD CARPENTER: CAR COLLECTION
Thank you everyone for patiently waiting for this next installment from our private meeting with Richard Carpenter on April 22. After our week in Downey, California for the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration and our sold out show at the Downey Theatre, we went straight back into our Las Vegas residency schedule and have been insanely busy. We're still going through and organizing our many photos and videos from the week in Downey, including our special meeting with Richard...and there's still more to come!
Here's a video compilation of Richard giving us a tour of his car collection at the "Yesterday Once More" warehouse. Such a beautiful and peaceful place - we could stay there all day! You will notice that Richard's favorite cars are classic Chrysler convertibles. At 3:01 Richard sits inside Karen's 1972 Mercedes Benz 350 SL V8 W107. The Mickey Mouse keychain was gifted to him by our dear friend Erin Gatlin (who orchestrated this meeting) on a previous visit...and as you can see Richard is still using it. You will also catch a glimpse of the 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (“Daytona”) that is pictured on the Carpenters’ “Now & Then” 1973 album.
ABOUT CARPENTERS LEGACY:

Starring Sally Olson as Karen Carpenter and Ned Mills as Richard Carpenter, the show features hits including “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Close to You”, “Superstar”, Karen’s drum feature and much more. "Carpenters Legacy: A Christmas Portrait" recreates the nostalgia of the Carpenters' Christmas television specials, including the holiday classics "Merry Christmas, Darling", “Sleigh Ride” and "The Christmas Song”. Olson is the first-ever and only Karen Carpenter impersonator to perform with the world-renowned Las Vegas revue "Legends In Concert". "Carpenters Legacy" maintains a Las Vegas residency in the V Theater at Planet Hollywood and is a six time Best of Las Vegas winner: “Best Impersonator” (Gold), “Best Tribute Show” (Bronze) and "Best Family-Friendly Show" (Bronze) in 2023.

Richard's taste in cars is as good as his taste for music . I never realized he was such a car guy.
Oh yeah his penchant for mopars are legendary
Amazing collection. Let Richard know how much we enjoy their music.
I met Richard while shooting for the tv show Motorweek. Just the nicest dude!
That Chrysler is incredible. ❤ Love you, Richard.
Now we’re on the cusp of having EV’s as cars all because of some belief in climate change. 😑
Karen singing voice was and continues to be the best god ever created!
Please tell Richard we love his music and still love him!
Yes! We will!! I know that Richard is very touched to know that his fans still love him very much and want to see the Carpenters' musical legacy preserved. 🥰
Truly a beautiful group of Chrysler and Dodge Masterpieces.Stunning! I am thrilled, I got to see these!
Oh my goodness??? WOW !
Richard has impeccable taste in music and cars! Thanks for posting this video.
You are most welcome! And yes, Richard does have impeccable taste in music and cars...and his car collection warehouse is immaculate. You could literally eat off of the floor. Makes me want to clean and organize our house! lol
WHOA! I would love to be in the co-pilot seat in any one of those!
That car collection is just bad ass. American iron is where its at....always has been.
Whoever restored that Chrysler did a beautiful job,That's a nice ride.
I tip my hat to Richard for allowing this filming and allowing this to be shared. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, what a collection! Love Richard.
Amazed by the size of the warehouse and the quality of the vehicles - the upkeep of the facility and the cars must cost a lot - shows how wealthy Richard is - talented and nice gentleman, God bless him and his family!
I had seen photos of the warehouse interior prior to our visit, but it's even bigger than I had imagined it to be. The place is immaculate and I would happily stay there for days. It's kind of like paradise. Richard was very kind and generous with his time. A day we will cherish forever. 🥰
Cars from every era often look amazing...the colors..styles. trim etc. Today every car looks exactly like every other car ..colors make drab look pretty
So cool to hear McCartney in the background with Richard present, priceless.
I'm impressed with the size of the building that the cars are in.
Restored to perfection Thank you Richard
Totally enjoyed it!
Just a phenomenal collection. I have to share this video with my brother as he also loves classic cars and goes to car shows all of the time.
What a beautiful collection - thank you for sharing and hope Richard is doing well. He has a wealth of knowledge of those old classic cars! I always loved their songs and music.
You're most welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. It was a joy to meet Richard and have him show us his car collection. 😊
Thankyou Sally!
You’re most welcome! 🤗
Nice !!!! Thanks, Sally, for posting this. I'm a "car guy" as well as a Carpenters music fan. I remember seeing Richard on Jay Leno's RUclips channel showing Jay his Dodge Challenger. Are you going to show more of Richard's collection?
Thank you! I remember seeing Richard on “Jay Leno’s Garage” show and remember that he was showing Jay his Barracuda. Maybe there’s another episode I haven’t seen? This is pretty much all the footage that we got of Richard’s car collection. We didn’t want to film too much, least we miss being in the moment. Next time we will get more. 😉
@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy Oh, you're probably correct. The Challenger and Barracuda were similar in 1970 and years following. I live in SC but would like to drive out your way and see this museum and take in your fabulous show. Keep the memories coming!
@@Chazd1949 that would be great! Come see us anytime at our Las Vegas residency in the V Theater at Planet Hollywood. ☺️
I would love to sit in the red car from the Now and Then album!!
Me too! I didn't dare to ask, but glad I got to take a picture in standing in front of it as well as Karen's Mercedes.
🤩
Those cars are real beauties! 👍
awesome car!
Those Mopars 😍😍😍😍😍 Wow! Many thanks for sharing this!
Those cars are gorgeous!! Is this at his house? I bet he and Jay Leno are friends!!
Yes, Richard was on Jay’s show “Jay Leno’s Garage” not that long ago. This is at Richard’s car collection warehouse in Thousand Oaks, California. ☺️
Wonderful collection!!
I still think I'm the only person that I've ever run across that prefers the 5-mile-an-hour bumpers on the 450 SL, Mercedes convertible! I had a 73 with the European-style bumper and I also had a later year (with the 5 mile an hour American bumper) and boy did I prefer that look. I thought it looked much better, with that larger, stylish bumper. But again, I understand that I'm one of the only folks who thinks that :-)
Thanks. Interestingly, the Chrysler 300’s LETTER Cars, seem to be driven, too.
Who shot this video? Why was the microphone on the person shooting the video and not Richard? I don't care about what the photographer has to say, I want to hear what Richard has to say. There was another video, apparently shot by the same person, that had to do with his piano. All you could here was comments by the photog, not Richard.
Fully agree get it together guys very unprofessional
We are getting this video for free. You guys should learn to be grateful for a video like this which was given for free and not complain. Don't complain about things you don't pay for. Maybe Richard didn't want a mic on him. Maybe this recorder doesn't have a mic that can be put on another person.
Those cars are ALL UHQ !!!!!!!
Please do a full review on his car collection.
Perhaps in the future. That's a great idea! 😊
Nope. It would have to be the ‘56 Dodge D-500 for me. Beautiful collection.
Beautiful vehicles
Does Richard open this up to the public to view his cars? My first car was a 1957 Thunderbird. Currently I'm restoring a 1968 Mustang
The cars that Richard Carpenter had in the past and one’s he kept were restored by a man named Gary Gores. The Carpenter’s had a warehouse off the 5 freeway south of Los Angeles and a friend an I drove down one day to talk to Gary and see the collection. At one point Richard had every Chrysler letter car both coupe and convertible. I heard in the late 80’s that Gary had moved to Montana. I believe that Gary was selling reproduction rubber products for lots of Chrysler models.
I'd just like to have that building! forget the gorgeous cars. 🤤
I know, right?! The place is so beautiful and immaculate. I could stay there all day. 😍
My first car was a 56 Chevy Bel Air.
Blue and white
California plates were yellow from around the mid 50s to 62' or 63', then they were blue.
I thought they were black with yellow lettering before they went to blue with yellow lettering?
They were black thru the '60's then blue and yellow.
Ya play up to Richard
Richard's net worth is $14,000,000.
I wonder if he kept Karen's '69 road runner.
Does Richard still have Karen’s cars? I know she had a jaguar.
Richard has Karen's Mercedes (there's a photo me standing next to it in the thumbnail image for the following video- see link below.) Her Jaguar is owned by a guy in Florida now. I'm on the waiting list. lol

@@SallyOlsonCarpentersLegacy wouldn’t it be amazing to own the jag?
@@artistbrindle Yes! I've had my eye on Karen's jag for years. Another Carpenters fan and friend of mine (Steve Manzi) has actually been in touch with the current owner, so he's next in line. Too bad that jags are so high maintenance though.
The truth is, I can't tell one car from another these days. ART and creativity are no longer a part of auto design.
How true. How true. I feel the same way.
There are so many regulations mandated on a car these days that they all end up looking the same.
It all about aerodynamics to get the best fuel economy, safety regulations, climate change, lighter materials as opposed to heavy chrome bumpers of the past etc…..
One of the limos there remind me of the one JFK rode in when he was assassinated
The Caddy tail fins were nothing like that.
Wow Richard; Jay Leno is jealous & furious! Love your Red '56 Lincoln Continental 2dr mark 2 & that '59 Chrysler 300E, GM would come out 4 yrs later with the Riviera to rival it
Actually it's a '60 300 F.
I never seen or heard him ding after Karen passed away
1:31 toilet seat! 2:30 My understanding is the '57 300 C has been sold.3:45 it'd be nice to hear Richard and not Wings.
Supposedly the car he drove to his Parents house, when he got "The Call" from his Mother.
Richard is always surrounded by sycophants. I don't know how he puts up with it.
All celebrities have the same issue but many learn very early on to deflect the fawning and goo-goo eyes and tilting heads etc. They become immune to it.
