- Shreya Singal scored a 99.78%ile in CAT 2019. She decided to retake the CAT in 2020 and scored a 99.82%ile in 3 months. In 2020, her sectional breakup was VARC - 99.42 | LRDI - 99.37 | QA - 99. She has joined IIM Ahmedabad to pursue her MBA as part of the Class of 2023. In this video, she shares how she went about her preparation in the 3 months time she had before CAT 2020.
She was working at Microsoft while preparing for CAT 2020. Like most engineers, she needed to up her VARC skills and focused on the same during her preparation. She did not have the time to take up coaching and so she went about preparing on her own such that she scored a 99.82%ile on the exam.

They don't realise that they are bringing people who scored 95 percent throughout in acads, worked in biggest companies etc. You can't possibly motivate average students with such videos . Instead of motivating it shows us reality of where we stand and there's no place for us in high tier b schools. These are bound to score high percentile irrespective of thier strategy. Do you guys really think average guys will score like her if they copied her strategy? I'm not demotivating , just telling the truth.
Dear aspirants let me tell you one thing that, yes there will be people who had taken and given the exam in a prep. Of 3 months but yes there's are also people who have given CAT in preparation of two yrs. I have read about such people and in my family also there's a person who has taken her 2 yrs only for preparing for CAT and now she's in IIM B, so just don't give up and remember this that no matter how much time it takes you will get over there. (She had scored 60% in her 12th and was from a non-maths background) but if she can do it then you can too.

@@samikshanegi5784 Coaching from a local tutor who had also scored 90+ and was a relative and after that self-study for 1.5 years, trust me If you know someone who had scored 90+ above then go study from them they will help you better as a personal tutor and after when you get the main concepts and your bases are clear then study on your own, at your own pace.

acads matter not only in mba admissions but also in placements, if you are fresher then ofcourse they will look at acads, but if you have good experience plus top notch skills, then may be they will ignore acads, but at the end we cant always act average,

@@debashishsaha5128 I know but unfortunately the people who aspire to get admissions in IIM ABC wont even get a call, so they should look for non IIMs instead of crying over past mistakes. I have heard that in executive PGP, they won't look at the acads in the same way as a normal 2 year PGP, so we can write GMAT later with 5 years work ex.

The biggest flaw in these IIMs is that they judge people on what did they do in past well nobody knows that they want to do MBA in future when they are in school most of us are immature and ain't focused on our studies but the end we can't blame system because people who worked hard earlier got their fruit and we didn't I don't know is there any point of giving CAT when you have already low chances of getting a good B School because of your past mistakes.
That's the difference between Indian MBA grads and foreign ones. Indian grads do MBA to get a job where as foreign grads do MBA to accelerate their careers

But bruh mujhey itna pata hai shayad low academic marks pr iim ahmedabaad nahi milega but ekk cheez ker sakte first you have to do your field job just like if you are a engineer you can do in mnc or any psu first then try for mba program in iim ahmedabaad by and by iim A will call you for interview for instance if you are working in big psu as an engineer like in ongc, baarc,isro...etc then it will definately influence in your job profile and there will be a chances of getting admission in iim ahmedabaad
There are no such guys (or maybe rare) because IIMs don't hire people with poor acads, this is the harsh truth.
If you are open there's no way you get abc calls even with 99.9 percentile with bad acads. Don't worry you have good chance for Fms , xlri just score very high. Abc is impossible bro sorry to say that.

Not like that. Ppl will be there. With avg marks in 10 12 grad but they won't be engineers. Or general category. Or top scorers in CAT. For a GEM fresher, only 9/9/9 can guarantee a call from IIM ABC.

Non engineers sck dude. We are fked. They have kinda made the Exam to facilitate more engineers( Quant and Data interpretation). Although our educational background would relate more to MBAs rather than those cunning engineers

@@shiwanisingh8818 Ah! It feels like looking back at my past.
A few points I would want you to consider:
1. Science is a hefty course. Especially in chemistry, you would be needed to work hard. I did my chemistry from DU. Had the same thought as you.
2. Chemistry would require 3 odd hours of theory classes and 4-5 odd hours of practical. Practicals have to be done standing. This part is unknown to many young people like you.
3. You wont get any points for chemistry in academic background.
4. If you chose BA, you would get points for academic diversity. Trust me it matters. Every single mark matters.
5. I would suggest to go after your interest in your bachelors degree. If you follow your interest, it would be easy for you to work hard and score.
6. Its totally fine if you want to pursue mba eventually. But you should make a meaning out of your bachelor degree AT ALL COST!!
This comment section has left me speechless,yes acads matter a lot but there many students with 60 percentage in their grad or 12 have made it to the IIMS score 99+ and get in there ,it makes no point crying over your past.

the thing is our parents never really told about IIMs. But there is still time for younger generations to score more in their 10th,12th and grad, if we can teach them how acads matter in life instead of saying "a peice of paper cannot define your future", to hell with this statement
These people deliberately conceal so much information(like coaching during first attempt,resources)...
They give only generic info. which is cliched and no such info that might actually help a beginner aspirant.
So,please be wary and take what they say with a grain of salt.
At the end, it all comes to one major point, irrespective of your cat score, only Toppers make it to b schools. Just accept the reality

You know dear i was preparing for banking exam so ithought i should give mba too in the year 2021 then i got stuck at 1 very tricky buzzle with 15 boxers actually there were 2 one was of allegation and mixture....i was so amused i spended the entire time on that because i was focused only on banking you wanna know why??? Because in banking admission is there within 6 months joining in april 2023 and all done after medical and 2 or 3 more procedure

sometimes i feel there should be a quota for engineers and non engineers .... more like reserved seats..... i am from a commerce background and i feel such an anger seeing this, where preference should be more for similar background, IIM knows what they are doing..... foreign universities are better, even when they are looking got experience students, the give preference more to what kind of experience they have, entirely tech is generally not preferred, .... and here in India its a child game

So people want to go to (Business Schools) to do masters in business administration and then to get themselves a job and work for someone else business and help them to grow rich
The reality is these schools just see grades and give admission but they are not concerned that why people are there to pursue MBA ( to get themselves a highly paid job) or to learn the business.

Its about eligibility requirements.
If through IAS someone is going to become A Cabinet Secretary,Drdo chief, Defence Advisor, Financial Commission Head, Financial Secretary, Foreign Services IFS which Position allows you almost Run a Country, your Advice and your Decision making affects Billions and billions of people coz Pm, cabinet Ministers only take decisions based what they are advised to do By such Commission s, committee s etc.
And To become Such Personalities here Upsc Is not needing any prior Educational Excellence at all ,why IIMs are so damnnn strict about it.
My point is About Eligibility, Requirements etc Not About who wants to become what.
