- Mini Motorways Part 6 - a potentially amazing run in Munich is cut short by disaster. How dare they do me like this. Can't get too down about it though! Just something I will need to watch out for in the future!

I really appreciate the editing arrows and highlighting showing what he's talking about
This game is very hard to follow sometimes. It needs a custom dark cursor or something.
same
one of the reasons why i like him so much. having arrows or other things to highlight makes it so easy to follow
This game needs it
You could make the cursor bigger and make it black in the settings
It’s eggshell. Source: I get high and stare at the color pallets in Home Depot.
Doesn’t the color change depending on brand tho?
Could also be Bone or Nimbus
@@QuigleTheGnome yup, color names are just semi-random words each producer puts on their colors
i’ve never been more proud to be a home depot employee
When there was a purple coming up you had only two bridges. Remember that one bridge counts as one entry and exit onto the river tiles sou you could have bridged around it. One bridge can be unlimited length and you can use it to your advantage. Hope this tip helps :)
I think it tused to be like that but now it actually consumes your tiles, look at 0:46, tiles disappear as hes building the bridge
Mini Motorways is one of those games where I'll look at the clock and realise that I have been playing the game for the entire day and done nothing else
they should do a combination game with roads and train lines
Absolute chaos

Sir, I have done a thorough examination on the color profile of the white/gray/beige businesses using the the most highly regarded and widely used photo editing programs, MS Paint, which has revealed that the structures are almost perfectly gray with a less than 1% variation on the non shaded sections. However, the self shaded parts of these buildings do have more color variance and might be described as a dark beige or, perhaps more accurately, as a de-saturated brown. Thank you for your time esteemed creator.
gentleman mandalorian moment
This is a very underrated comment
Holy shit, you actually tested it for no reason. Well done
I would go as far as to describe the light and shade colours combination as an "egg shell" matte.
Tyler, the bridges can go anywhere in the water! For example, you could have (initially) saved a bridge by tracing the bridge around the island! Maybe it wouldn't have been useful then, but perhaps later on this mechanic can be more useful.
I totally agree, but I will point out that at the time he initially placed the double bridge, the bottom of the island was out of bounds, so he couldn't go around until a bit later.
the mountains are the bane of my existence in this game purely for the reason that you cant place a motorway going through them which just makes it a worse river
They should make it where you can use tunnels with a motorway
That's part of the challenge.
If you slowly move the motorway over, one tile at a time in pause mode you should be able to go through mountains
Mountains aren’t that bad
✌
I took my first round about in mid ohio a few months ago. It was actually 3 connected together. Thankfully I watch dashcam vids and have absorbed enough knowledge of them that I felt comfortable driving them.
lol round abouts are easy bro, just turn until it’s your time to get off
I live in Ohio, where is this magic triple roundabout you speak of? Near columbus? Maybe more towards Akron? Or a little towards Cincinnati?
@@McLumy C-bus
meanwhile in britain everything is a roundabout.
@@dante240sx Unless you’ve never driven through one lol. New forms of traffic flow are scary, even if they’re simple once you understand them
This is definitely my favorite series in a while from tyler
With u there
My last favorite was turmoil or poly bridge 2. This last one has been very enjoyable
Love how confident you are. Love seeing people so confident.
As a fellow Wisconsinite I can confirm a generous use of roundabouts and cheese.
damn wisconsin go the most roundabouts and tyler?? shit i gotta get packing
Roundabouts are great until you get to Rice Lake and you have to go through three of the damn things just to leave Walmart.
@@XarmenKarshov oh jesus i just looked on google maps and thats very excessive,,,,,,
@@XarmenKarshov I disagree. In Europe that situation is common and it's still way better than the alternatives. Safer, cheaper and more efficient. Unless of course the area is massively congested and require traffic lights for some sides not to get stuck.
I believe that connecting the motorway to the other side of the business (what cucked you at the end of the run) would've helped, as the cause for congestion was the counter-clockwise route that the cars took ino the business.
Placing the motorway entrance on the same side as the red/orange may have been a saving grace to the frustrating mechanics.
Wait so does that mean you should generally connect cars to the right side of a two business lot and avoid the left side?
@@stevensteven327 Not necessarily. But, in this case, Tyler was desperate for cars to get there, rather than overall traffic
Think so too :)
Four way intersections are much less of a problem if you put traffic lights on them, that's literally why traffic lights exist
Traffic lights are worse than normal intersections in scarce traffic. In medium traffic, roundabouts are better, if you have the space, but traffic lights can provide slight benefit. In late-game congestion, traffic lights prevent cars getting completely stuck, but still close to doubles the time it takes to drive because half the cars are always waiting. Since the game is lost if you can't supply the given demand fast enough, you'll have to maximize segregated Y-intersections because they're better than the rest, if you want any chance to get to late game. I've found traffic lights can be useful in very specific scenarios - e.g. a very busy road intersecting with a long-distance road that only drives rarely as a backup.
Thank God you posted, I've been looked for something to watch for like.. 5-10 minutes.
"The state with the greatest number of roundabouts."
You can bet your ass on that, a town near me has 3 roundabouts back to back to back. Bloody ridiculous to look at and drive through.
Ah just 3? Some 80 kmph road has 10 of them 😂
@@ryonnl Yes, but there's three of them in the city limits of one of the smaller cities on a 30 mph/48 kmph road. Just imagine how many they'll have in the larger areas.
Dude I love these videos. This game is awesome and I love watching tyler play it.
HELL YEAH Fellow Wisconsinite that loves roundabouts!
Love roundabouts only when the people riding them know what the hell they’re doing
Back at it again Tyler, keep doing what you do :D
From what I've gathered is that 4-way intersections can be remedied by Stoplights just as long as the colors crossing it are just 2, because one of the advantage of the Stoplights is that whenever a lane/road is on the Green -cars on that lane/road doesn't slow down unless it is on Red.
If you look at the end state you'll see there's 8 pins (big pin = 6 for this building), with only 4 cars on their way to pick up the pins. Thus i'd argue you need more houses.
Ideally you want to have a number of houses to fulfill this formula:
Trip_time / attached_houses
I kinda hate how tyler plays this game smartly and tries really hard to solve the puzzle instead of doing the instinctive thing and just connecting everything together and ending with a mess of a city
why, its good to see ppl be smart about stuff, or do you want to see people being idiots???
I've also seen people say they hate when people don't make symmetric and beautiful roads. Personally, I enjoy embracing the challenge of not doing the intuitive and figuring out what's better. I like challenging norms in general though. Sometimes it's a virtue, other times it can prevent me from enjoying simple things. We all have our quirks and ways to enjoy things, and I think that diversity is a good thing for all of us.
Three videos ago: "there is no ulterior motive, I just want efficient roads"
Today: "i decreed that purples can only have one child"
It would be cool if they made a co-op version of this, where they share roads as well as the motorways, roundabouts, etc. and they have to communicate what should go where and have a leaderboard.
Imagine the opposite of co-op as well.
Player 1 plays it normally while Player 2 controls house/business placements with the goal of making Player 1 lose. Getting to X many points would make Player 1 win, and a business going out of business makes Player 2 win.
I think the trick to this is putting most of the roads and roundabouts down right from the start, so that you can manipulate where businesses can spawn. If you don’t attach these roads to the functional road, they don’t have to wait for cars to clear, making them as available as the ones in your “road bank”.
hell yeah Wisconsinites for life! I knew you gave me a good vibe :)
I absolutely share Tyler's frustrations. I have decent scores on all maps but it's still hard for me to understand how demand works in this game. Some of the people who demonstrably had 10k+/infinite scores have claimed that a highway a "medium distance" away is optimal, but the same people have also claimed other aspects that I haven't been able to replicate. And personally I've found that short distances are optimal in most circumstances. For me it feels like there's a lot of luck involved in late-game, and the delay for repurposing motorways is a frustrating mechanic but I accept that in many cases it can be overcome by foresight, and thus is part of the challenge.
10:43 that moment when your calling roundabouts motorways.
Traffic lights are the bane of Tyler’s existence
lol i’ve been binging these videos, didn’t know you were from wisconsin too :D
My brain: well I'm here so might as well watch mini motorways at 1am
Mini Motorways, Mega Problems
BRUH. Coming from Florida to Wisconsin, I was surprised about how many roundabouts there are, FonDuLac closed a highway to build another one, they also have like 30 more in a city of 40k people
You were wrong about the pinks - they didn't have enough houses - because new pins can spawn while the cars are returning from collecting existing pins. So you have six cars returning with collected pins, but new pins have spawned, but because all your cars are already in transit back from collecting pins then no new cars are sent out. You could have easily connected in a couple more pink houses. This was easy to spot, because your business "overheat" was happening at the same time as the garages at all the houses connected to it were empty. as soon as you noticed empty garages + overheat, for any longer than the couple seconds it takes to traverse unidirectionally along the highway then you know you need more houses. hope my explanation was clear enough.
I lived in Wisconsin for 22 years and I had no idea about the roundabouts lol, I think I drove through like 3 before I left
I was 12 minutes in before I realized where you were talking about orange.... I have my work light on here so maybe that's affecting it, but I can barely tell the difference between pink and orange on this screen / game...
I'm loving watching this game right now
This fire no cap
A motorway. That's like a long bridge.
-Aliensrock, 2021
If you cul-de-sac your neighborhoods better you'll last longer. That tends to be the way people lose when they get past 1000-2000 points is their neighborhoods get congested. If you have groups of 2-5 house on a small road that then goes to the main road leading out of the neighborhood, the cars on the main road will go faster, because they have fewer intersections to worry about.
I love the clean graphics of this game
And tyler of course
in order to stop four-way intersections from happening in neighbourhoods with funky house spawns, I try my best to move the houses so that they share driveways and thus aren't spamming the road with multiple driveways
I just came up with an easy fix for this problem. You just make the time it takes for a car to cross a motorway a fixed amount of time. You (being the dev.) can even play around with that time so that maybe for short distances it would be better not to use a motorway, forcing the player to use the other game mechanics. And you can make it so that the time it takes will always be an amount so that the cars can suply a demand even from across the screen, solving the problem like the one that happened in the video.
Fun fact that confused me too: if the bridge (maybe even tunnel) is filled in u have one more, if it’s filled in with white u dont
At 14:10 when your counting cars you are forgetting that the top house is still being connected and its two cars haven't come back yet. The game would have sent more if you perhaps connected houses with cars that were closer to come back but since you can't know that you can only connect more houses
Mornin Aliensrock!
when i saw this upload: lets goooo!
I think the white you speak of is pearl white. Great content as always!
They should add a hard mode where there are mountains and tunnels.
later levels do exactly this!
Engineer here; triangular roundabouts, if designed properly, can surpass circular ones in this game only, but you're going to be limited to 3 entrances/exits
Now I finally can go to sleep
The real devil 8 way intersection
New Tyler vid, popping off
I don’t even understand what the usage case is for traffic lights; they just seem to make everything worse.
Pewdiepie is now playing the game so your channel might get a boost in popularity. I hope it does!
i just realized i watched this stream and that’s why the jokes where familiar
Real civil engineer is happy when u say that four war cross sections is bad :)
you had a bridge for light blue at the beginning, you just cant use a houses driveway tile as the start of the bridge
Cars slow down if there are houses connected directly to the side of the road, so it would be optimal if the houses were 1 tile away from the road, that way the cars don't slow down.
"I'm proud to be a Wisconsinite"
Cheesehead. 😛
Sincerely, your neighbors to the west!
You never see it comin'.
I believe that is the island of the "Deutsches Museum" (german museum), but man, this game does not make it clear... Also: WHY ARE THERE SUDDENLY SO MANY HIGHWAYS DOWNTOWN OMGGGG.
Tyler just destroyed every old building, every park and every single bit of infrastructure in existence.
Try not placing a highway forming a t at a little road to a round about so the highway can join smoothly
6:36 you could put a roundabout in. Or barely change the road lay out
0:48 Tyler likes threeways
I can't wait for him being pranked by mountains in Zurich...
We need this game in phones
14:36 me when my uncle finally left the basement
awh, rip !
I'd like to see the game expand to have one way roads as an option. Also maybe an option to make an overpass.
You should use the traffic lights in four way inerserctions
POV: This is ur luck every time you play this game
Tyler.. more like aliensrock
I am a Wisconsinite, we may have the most roundabouts, but we still don't have a lot.
Once again - you tell if the network is well managed by looking at the connected houses. You had too few cars for that pink, all houses were empty.
nice
why did it take me until now to know that i live in the same state as tyler
beige is like that but it can also be a shade of brown sometimes.
Poggers for God.
When you watch the video early because you went to the Playlist
Tip: If the symbol for the bridge is darkened that means. you have a bridge.
Maybe traffic lights would be good for four-way intersections? :)
How did you get the pause and fast forward buttons to appear in the top right?
This level, I full the entire tiny island with spare roads to stop shit spawning there :D
Pros: Wisconsin has a lot of roundabouts
Cons: Wisconsin.
I like how you say you will eliminate 4 way intersections and get one within 30 seconds then say you don't want to eliminate it
Can't believe I'm pissed off at a game I don't even own
The ending was so bruhhh
2 tone house to take this game to the next level. House needs to go to both colours to complete it's route! Kind of ruins the city building aspect once we realise to make every colour unique path.
Have a nice night everyone!
You too!
At the start of the video he said that the car will slow down at a four way intersection even if there’s no other cars there, is that what stoplights are for? Do the traffic lights fix that?
Yeah but stop lights stop half the traffic going through the intersection. They harm it so much that they arnt worth using
I wonder if that eye tracking program would work good for this game
No Tyler comment today what is this
I like the concept, it is just lacking so so much, like proper intersections and on/off ramps, multiple layer intersections, cars driving properly, and preemptively
What happened to Luck be a Landlord? I was really hoping we’d get to see some more videos of that game now that essences exist
Commenting for the RUclips algorithm
Shooting my shot asking for some more luck be a landlord🤞🤞
He almost used all 9 motorways
The businesses really don't think very hard about where they should place them selves do they?
