I live the fact that Polynesians don't care if the girls are skinny or thick. If you can dance like that then you dance it. You guys don't judge and it makes me happy.
RLynnT It's beautiful in both languages although the Oceanic language (too scared to try and say which due to other people's comments) is just stunningly beautiful.
the dancers did awesome. truly captured the essence of all Polynesian cultures. they need to teach their dance to the girls playing moana at Disney land and Disney world.
I really love this song. Yes, this song tell a story about Polynesian culture but I think all of archipelago cultures (Phillipines, Indonesian, err.. Carribean?) will love this song.
Moana is one of the best Disney cartoons, this song is so strong. The spirit God Maui reminds me of Wreck It Ralph. The classic bad guy who's actually very good.
Bc you realized just what the song is about, and how powerful the words are, and the meaning of the message it sends. It makes you reach into a part of your heart and soul that you didn't know was there, and it makes you think about where you came from
1:32 I just cant get over this guy; he has such a pleasant expression. Can anyone else agree with me that he just seems like very nice and happy person?
It's a beautiful song, and it's scene in the movie is perfection! Brings the emotion of the story to the forefront. If you haven't seen the film yet, I highly recommend it!
Since they were doing the correct movements according to the words, it honestly looks like hula to me, but their attire looks samoan, so i'm not entirely sure.
No, the territory was originally ours, each of us claiming our own territory. The "other" countries took over because they thought they could just storm on in and take it as theirs, which they did, but i dream of life of how it would of been if they didn't
The only Pacific Islander heritage I have is Melanesian rather than Polynesian, but this song is beautiful, it reminds me of all the Austronesian peoples and the scene of the first Māori arriving on the beach in "The End of Eden" episode of Monsters We Met. Beautiful cultures. When I heard this song in the movie when I went to see it at the theater, it brought tears to my eyes.
I just love and appreciate Disney and the cast of Moana gives us more depth and shines light on Polynesian culture. It just makes me feel happy that different cultures are being known and appreciated, I'm not Polynesian but I've always been interested in Polynesian culture and the people who come from that culture have every right to be proud of it.
One big reason why I loved Moana. The movie contained beautiful songs and they showed their culture. I love learning about new cultures :) Also, the songs were so exciting!
I can't even imagine what it must have taken to get into a boat and set out on an ocean that for all you know could be literally endless. Mindboggling.
Tatou o tagata folau vala'auina Le atua o le sami tele e o mai O ava'e le lu'itau e lelei Tapenapena Aue, aue Nuku i mua Te manulele e tataki e Aue, aue Te fenua te malie Nae ko hakilia kaiga e We read the wind and the sky when the sun is high We sail the length of the seas on the ocean breeze At night, we name every star We know where we are We know who we are, who we are Aue, aue We set a course to find A brand new Island everywhere we roam Aue, aue We keep our Island in our mind And when it's time to find home We know the way Aue, aue, We are explorers reading every sign We tell the stories of our elders in a never-ending chain Aue, aue, Te fenua, te malie Nae ko hakilia We know the way Aue, aue We set a course to find A brand new Island everywhere we roam Aue, aue We keep our Island in our mind And when its time to find home We know the way Aue, aue, We are explorers reading every sign We tell the stories of our elders in a never-ending chain Aue, aue, Te fenua, te mālie Nā heko hakilia We know the way
Liv Rundgren Tyler I'm so happy that there was finally a movie like this. But but i think that we could have made it up but we just didn't want to be involved because of how expensive it is. so America made it but i still love it so much! (I haven't even watched it yet though!)
I'm Mexican and we don't study a lot about Polynesian cultures in school. After watching the movie on Sunday I have done a lot of research. They are amazing.
Every time I watch this, or listen to this song for that matter, I sob. I think it's the beauty of the Polynesian culture. Their smiles are contagious and it's just beautiful to see them so happy and joyful.
I'm truly obsessed with the music. I truly appreciate their culture, and how they introduce it to people. I'm excited to see Hawaii and other Polynesian islands one day. Thanks to Moana I got into it. It's a lovely culture.
It brought me tears over the beauty of the scene and the energetic song. It was heard as a mystic magical chant to who doesn't know the actual meaning, but it was indeed invigorating, and whatever the meaning the sound of the chant was beautiful. Curiosity about the meaning came afterward.
As a native islander (new zealand) i honestly feel so great about moana. Everytime someone mentions it i get so excited because it's based in my culture, and people sometimes don't really know much about the pacific culture you know? idk I just feel great about it
I love all the songs from Moana, they sung it from the heart and tell us stories about their culture..🙌 thank you for bringing life to this wonderful movie..
This film had such amazing music and oh my gosh, now that I get to see Opetaia Foa'i, it's so cool to see that his character in the film kind of looks like him :)
I feel proud of Polynesian culture, and I'm not even Polynesian one bit! But i am human and this song fills me with unspeakable joy every time. Just such beauty and wonder and majesty at what these navigators did! It's awe inspiring. I'd be amazingly proud to have descended from them
This always makes me smile. I'm an 1/8 Polynesian and an 1/8 Japanese, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't count at all 😔. Hearing this raises my spirits 😊
This movie had a mix of every main Polynesians there. The Tongan for the welcome, the Samoan look of living, then the Hawaiian dance from her grandma, then the kids doing Tahitian, then the Mother Earth is Maori. Yet the movie shows the similarities we all have
The dancers really added a wonderful touch to this performance. The Samoan and Tokelauan lyrics at the beginning give me chills every time. I am thankful, as a white American, for the chance this movie gave me to educate myself about South Pacific/Polynesian culture, and thankful to Opetaia Foa'i and Lin-Manuel Miranda for this beautiful song!!
LOVE. SO. MUCH! I've been watching that scene over and over and over and it is just beyond amazing. Bringing this important culture alive for the children, I just get goosebumps watching that clip. The very best scene in the movie for me! Thank you for your music!
I love Moana so much because it resembles the Philippine Pre-Colonial culture so much. How our ancestor traveled to our archipelago using boats (balangays), how much the people are in touch with nature, the deities (Te Fiti is parallel to our Mariang Makiling.), and even the traditional tattooing. Everything about it is refreshing and it tugged the roots of my cultural ancestry, it's amazing.
My two year old son gets down to some Moana. It’s his favorite movie right now. It is played over and over again. Awesome soundtrack and I love Polynesian tattoos!!!!! Fascinating.
Moana film stands for and represents so much culture, joy and greatness. One of my Favs indeed. Love this song especially. Sends feeling of happiness, hope and joy
Such a beautiful culture, so full of love and acceptance and the celebration of nature and this song is so beautiful and the whole movie was stunning i can't even and this performance just gave me shivers
This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the movie. When Moana discovers she's a descendant of explorers it's like all her inner feelings were validated and she knew she wasn't crazy lol Definitely my top Disney movie from the past 15 years
the music and visuals and everything for this movie are ON POINT!!! 😍😍 being an animation junkie, i had to see this movie! it was totally worth the money!!! im crossin my fingers they nail Coco this good next year!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love this movie, finally a mainstream film that celebrates Polynesians and their exploits navigating the South Pacific. A heart warming way to bring the story to the world, congratulations.
Ka rawe, Opetaia! You're compositions are exceptional. I've been a fan of Te Vaka for years. Thank you for the music, and sharing our Polynesian traditions through song. I am Māori and I understand what you are saying, even if it is in Tokelauan - that reminds me that our islands are so close, and our bloodlines to each other will never be broken. Makes me very proud. Tēnā koe!
love the voice. song, like to be ringtone, even in the citybus if i hear this i felt like in the middle of the ocean... love love love from Philippines😂😂😂😂😂
just Saw The Movie Last Night It Was Incredible The Visuals Were Spectacular And The Music Of The South Pacific Culture Blew Me Away Disney Has Once Again Out Did Themselves !!
I loved this movie so much. ♥ These girls / men are so beautiful ! I come from an island, so it's wonderful to see that island girls / people are finally represented in a Disney movie ! Physically, (even before the movie was out, my friend was there: you look so much like Moana damn!) but also through the themes: family, finding one's way, and this craving to see what's beyond the horizon. :) I hope Disney will continue to make movies like this ! ♥
I'm a filipino but i've always wanted to go to Hawaii and live there. I just love their songs and how passionate they are of their beautiful culture. It gives me goosebumps everytime. I'd ve bad with the dancing tho. I'm sure it's living in paradise every single day when you're in Hawaii. I can't wait to fulfill my dreaaaaam
This brings back memories during my high school years. Where I live we have the biggest Polynesian population and during our Pep rallies Polynesian club actually did a dance like this. It was an amazing experience and makes me want to go back and watch it again. when I actually saw the movie I actually spent most of the time saying 'wow this character looks like someone I went to school with' the whole time.

Me too
Victoria zhuravlev shut up
Chelsea Matekino Wall what if I don't
The first one to get on stage looks exactly like one of the characters on the clip of the movie!
The Kahuna/Chieftain from the boat scene almost looks exactly like a character model of Opetaia Foa'i with a goatee in retrospect.
Letícia Pais they usually model the look of the character to match what the actor looks like
well that was Opetaia Foa'i singing that part of the song in the film! This group is fabulous!
Letícia Pais i thought that too
for some reason this song makes me tear up its sooo beautiful
you are not alone
Mela Koma Im African American and this song makes me tear up too... such beautiful people
Bc you realized just what the song is about, and how powerful the words are, and the meaning of the message it sends. It makes you reach into a part of your heart and soul that you didn't know was there, and it makes you think about where you came from

It's a beautiful song, and it's scene in the movie is perfection! Brings the emotion of the story to the forefront. If you haven't seen the film yet, I highly recommend it!
Have seen it 5 times; so far :D
I love the sound of their language.
Exactly.
@m33ks_pixx really? what language is it exactly? is it just generally samoan? sorry i don’t know much about other languages 😅
I wouldn't mind learning that dance , I feel the riddim its great
kirmanie sonson try searching up kelston boys polyfest they got a pretty cool dance
kirmanie sonson just come to new Zealand and join a haka group or search up haka and practice
Liam Hackney that's not a haka
Yasuo Oce i know it isn't a haka but they look quite similar though but he can go to a pacific island to learn a dance like this also
Since they were doing the correct movements according to the words, it honestly looks like hula to me, but their attire looks samoan, so i'm not entirely sure.
We Polynesians are fucking badass
lol no
YES we are hahaha:P
It took one guy to conquer seven islands lol
Who and what 7? The 5 that make up the Polynesian triangle are/were US, Chile, British, German and French territories.
No, the territory was originally ours, each of us claiming our own territory. The "other" countries took over because they thought they could just storm on in and take it as theirs, which they did, but i dream of life of how it would of been if they didn't

Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. I'm not islander, but I can feel their pride.
This makes me tear up every single time I hear it. Thank you for a wonderful glimpse into this culture.

This makes me proud to be a Pacific Islander. It amazes me that some of our island neighbors have similar things in common. Mainly the dances.
Liv Rundgren Tyler I'm so happy that there was finally a movie like this. But but i think that we could have made it up but we just didn't want to be involved because of how expensive it is. so America made it but i still love it so much! (I haven't even watched it yet though!)

Powerful and beautiful music just makes me so emotional. I was practically crying through this whole thing. What a beautiful language!
That was a beautiful performance! The art of gorgeous storytelling is lost on so many people. As a writer this gives me joy and hope!
Absolutely the best song from Moana! The drums, the melody, the voices - WOW!
Every time I watch this, or listen to this song for that matter, I sob. I think it's the beauty of the Polynesian culture. Their smiles are contagious and it's just beautiful to see them so happy and joyful.

It sounds nice in English but the song is absolutely beautiful in the native tongue. My favorite song of the movie.
This is my favourite track from the film. Such an uplifting piece of music.
Live or not. This song always gives me goosebumps and a eager feeling to go to Hawaii
This always makes me smile. I'm an 1/8 Polynesian and an 1/8 Japanese, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't count at all 😔. Hearing this raises my spirits 😊

when I actually saw the movie I actually spent most of the time saying 'wow this character looks like someone I went to school with' the whole time.
And the characters in the movie looks just like him but wearing different clothes
