Directors: Ron Clements, John Musker
Producer: Osnat Shurer
For centuries, the greatest sailors in the world masterfully navigated the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, 3,000 years ago, their voyages stopped for a millennium - and no one knows exactly why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana (voice of Auliʻi Cravalho) convinces the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”), produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa‘i, “Moana” sails into UK cinemas on 2 December, 2016

I live the fact that Polynesians don't care if the girls are skinny or thick. If you can dance like that then you dance it. You guys don't judge and it makes me happy.
Love*
Avocado Faze I feel the exact same way you you do. It's beautiful!
T.T they're so cool.

I like the native language sung before english. :) I love a good taste of a new culture
🙅🙁😭🤒💤👁🐕🦄🙉
aby marin ..... did I say something wrong?
Nope
RLynnT It's beautiful in both languages although the Oceanic language (too scared to try and say which due to other people's comments) is just stunningly beautiful.
Verse in Samoan, chorus in Tokelauan
I really love this song. Yes, this song tell a story about Polynesian culture but I think all of archipelago cultures (Phillipines, Indonesian, err.. Carribean?) will love this song.
kunderemp damn right
kunderemp it's tre
kunderemp we all are sons of austronesians ☺️☺️☺️ our heritage are voyagers to find islands
kunderemp hey what about Samoans?
You're right about that! Fellow archipelago dwellers here :)
the dancers did awesome. truly captured the essence of all Polynesian cultures. they need to teach their dance to the girls playing moana at Disney land and Disney world.
Beck's beer from Pittsburgh why is your name and a phone number
I am glad they allowed people from this culture to preform and sing in there own mother toung.
he sings it in the movie too
they sang the song when it was Tokulean part but the English part was sung by Linn-Manuel Miranda.

MY FAVE SONG FROM MOANA!!!! Not only it has amazing music, the lyrics also make me think about my own country's culture.
Wow....
PhantomifyEponine And also it says they NO DA WAE
I LOVE this. The guy in the back on the left(under Moana) looks so happy! He looks joyful like he is REALLY into this. Awesome!
I love his voice and the song😍😍😍😍
Victoria zhuravlev like your profile pic😁 and same

Me too
Victoria zhuravlev shut up
Chelsea Matekino Wall what if I don't
Moana is one of the best Disney cartoons, this song is so strong. The spirit God Maui reminds me of Wreck It Ralph. The classic bad guy who's actually very good.
It's a beautiful song, and it's scene in the movie is perfection! Brings the emotion of the story to the forefront. If you haven't seen the film yet, I highly recommend it!
Have seen it 5 times; so far :D
The only Pacific Islander heritage I have is Melanesian rather than Polynesian, but this song is beautiful, it reminds me of all the Austronesian peoples and the scene of the first Māori arriving on the beach in "The End of Eden" episode of Monsters We Met. Beautiful cultures. When I heard this song in the movie when I went to see it at the theater, it brought tears to my eyes.
elsa1942 my mother is just straight up Māori, she came from New Zealand to the US in the late 80's.
Mines is Samoa
Yes we are
don't matter we all onelove Pacifica.
elsa1942 the canoes are of fijian design just search DRUA OR VAKATAU.
for some reason this song makes me tear up its sooo beautiful
you are not alone
Mela Koma Im African American and this song makes me tear up too... such beautiful people
Bc you realized just what the song is about, and how powerful the words are, and the meaning of the message it sends. It makes you reach into a part of your heart and soul that you didn't know was there, and it makes you think about where you came from
me too
Yeah
1:32 I just cant get over this guy; he has such a pleasant expression. Can anyone else agree with me that he just seems like very nice and happy person?
I thought so too!
i agree with you..im crying n smiling listening to them
The first one to get on stage looks exactly like one of the characters on the clip of the movie!
The Kahuna/Chieftain from the boat scene almost looks exactly like a character model of Opetaia Foa'i with a goatee in retrospect.
Letícia Pais they usually model the look of the character to match what the actor looks like
well that was Opetaia Foa'i singing that part of the song in the film! This group is fabulous!
Letícia Pais i thought that too
I love the sound of their language.
Exactly.
@m33ks_pixx really? what language is it exactly? is it just generally samoan? sorry i don’t know much about other languages 😅
I wouldn't mind learning that dance , I feel the riddim its great
kirmanie sonson try searching up kelston boys polyfest they got a pretty cool dance
kirmanie sonson just come to new Zealand and join a haka group or search up haka and practice
Liam Hackney that's not a haka
Yasuo Oce i know it isn't a haka but they look quite similar though but he can go to a pacific island to learn a dance like this also
Since they were doing the correct movements according to the words, it honestly looks like hula to me, but their attire looks samoan, so i'm not entirely sure.
Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. I'm not islander, but I can feel their pride.
One big reason why I loved Moana. The movie contained beautiful songs and they showed their culture. I love learning about new cultures :) Also, the songs were so exciting!
I just love and appreciate Disney and the cast of Moana gives us more depth and shines light on Polynesian culture. It just makes me feel happy that different cultures are being known and appreciated, I'm not Polynesian but I've always been interested in Polynesian culture and the people who come from that culture have every right to be proud of it.
Powerful and beautiful music just makes me so emotional. I was practically crying through this whole thing. What a beautiful language!
I can't even imagine what it must have taken to get into a boat and set out on an ocean that for all you know could be literally endless. Mindboggling.
Ta Vaka is fabulous! I hope the film Moana gets more people intereested in this fantastic set of cultures and history.
I has caused this effect on me!! :)
It has caused this effect on me!! :)
I'm Mexican and we don't study a lot about Polynesian cultures in school. After watching the movie on Sunday I have done a lot of research. They are amazing.
Likewise with Aztec culture. Manuia!
te vaka not ta vaka
I feel proud of Polynesian culture, and I'm not even Polynesian one bit! But i am human and this song fills me with unspeakable joy every time. Just such beauty and wonder and majesty at what these navigators did! It's awe inspiring. I'd be amazingly proud to have descended from them
I don't understand how any one could dislike this. I have it on repeat lol
Those backup dancers stole the show for me. They are all so graceful and beautiful to watch
This makes me tear up every single time I hear it. Thank you for a wonderful glimpse into this culture.
This film had such amazing music and oh my gosh, now that I get to see Opetaia Foa'i, it's so cool to see that his character in the film kind of looks like him :)
Every time I watch this, or listen to this song for that matter, I sob. I think it's the beauty of the Polynesian culture. Their smiles are contagious and it's just beautiful to see them so happy and joyful.
My two year old son gets down to some Moana. It’s his favorite movie right now. It is played over and over again. Awesome soundtrack and I love Polynesian tattoos!!!!! Fascinating.
Oh good Lord! I saw Moana and absolutely LOVED it! This is so beautiful, I could cry! Heck....I am crying! :)
dtrix10kc my other half took me to see Moana on Thursday. I cried from about a minute in until the credits :)
Words can't explain how much I love their dances it just brings out the islander in me
I can't I cant...one minute in and I'm crying already. Thanks
I'm also crying :'(
Crying. What a beautiful time we live in. Cultures are being celebrated. We're telling each other our stories, and people are responding.
Absolutely the best song from Moana! The drums, the melody, the voices - WOW!
As a native islander (new zealand) i honestly feel so great about moana. Everytime someone mentions it i get so excited because it's based in my culture, and people sometimes don't really know much about the pacific culture you know? idk I just feel great about it
the song itself tells a story of a culture.. love it.. makes me teary eye
This is my favourite track from the film. Such an uplifting piece of music.
This makes me proud to be a Pacific Islander. It amazes me that some of our island neighbors have similar things in common. Mainly the dances.
Liv Rundgren Tyler I'm so happy that there was finally a movie like this. But but i think that we could have made it up but we just didn't want to be involved because of how expensive it is. so America made it but i still love it so much! (I haven't even watched it yet though!)
The way he strums the guitar is so remarkable, he makes it sound so good. Its hard to explain.. After the tapena pena line..
That was a beautiful performance! The art of gorgeous storytelling is lost on so many people. As a writer this gives me joy and hope!
What a great song, about great people! So glad you wrote this!
I'm truly obsessed with the music. I truly appreciate their culture, and how they introduce it to people. I'm excited to see Hawaii and other Polynesian islands one day. Thanks to Moana I got into it. It's a lovely culture.
This movie had a mix of every main Polynesians there. The Tongan for the welcome, the Samoan look of living, then the Hawaiian dance from her grandma, then the kids doing Tahitian, then the Mother Earth is Maori. Yet the movie shows the similarities we all have
Amazing song and the movie. absolutely amazing
The dancers really added a wonderful touch to this performance. The Samoan and Tokelauan lyrics at the beginning give me chills every time. I am thankful, as a white American, for the chance this movie gave me to educate myself about South Pacific/Polynesian culture, and thankful to Opetaia Foa'i and Lin-Manuel Miranda for this beautiful song!!
Mary Hales white American lol
We Polynesians are fucking badass
lol no
YES we are hahaha:P
It took one guy to conquer seven islands lol
Who and what 7? The 5 that make up the Polynesian triangle are/were US, Chile, British, German and French territories.
No, the territory was originally ours, each of us claiming our own territory. The "other" countries took over because they thought they could just storm on in and take it as theirs, which they did, but i dream of life of how it would of been if they didn't
I love this movie, finally a mainstream film that celebrates Polynesians and their exploits navigating the South Pacific. A heart warming way to bring the story to the world, congratulations.
I like the song so much after i saw the film “moana”。
same
.
the dancing is so fluid and mesmerising, I could watch it all day haha
I love all the songs from Moana, they sung it from the heart and tell us stories about their culture..🙌 thank you for bringing life to this wonderful movie..
I get so many goosebumps every time I hear this song and that feeling in the throat when you're about to cry. So many emotions ;----;
Words can’t describe how much loved this performance :)
LOVE. SO. MUCH! I've been watching that scene over and over and over and it is just beyond amazing. Bringing this important culture alive for the children, I just get goosebumps watching that clip. The very best scene in the movie for me! Thank you for your music!
It brought me tears over the beauty of the scene and the energetic song. It was heard as a mystic magical chant to who doesn't know the actual meaning, but it was indeed invigorating, and whatever the meaning the sound of the chant was beautiful. Curiosity about the meaning came afterward.
This always makes me smile. I'm an 1/8 Polynesian and an 1/8 Japanese, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't count at all 😔. Hearing this raises my spirits 😊
I love Polynesian culture because they are always so tight-knit and focus on happiness and love. Just so beautiful.
all of them be addicted to how far i'll go, while i'm here still adoring and get goosebumps to this song
absolutely love this movie! my 4 year old loved it so much that she wants to go back and watch it!
Morgana Madrid I'm 27 and I want to see it again. Can't wait for the DVD.
me to twoce
Morgana Madrid I saw it twice 😁
The dancers were so sincerely happy and enjoying every word and move i could only watch this vid with a gigantic smile in my face!
Live or not. This song always gives me goosebumps and a eager feeling to go to Hawaii
Ka rawe, Opetaia! You're compositions are exceptional. I've been a fan of Te Vaka for years. Thank you for the music, and sharing our Polynesian traditions through song. I am Māori and I understand what you are saying, even if it is in Tokelauan - that reminds me that our islands are so close, and our bloodlines to each other will never be broken. Makes me very proud. Tēnā koe!
👍👍👍
great song and movie.. i just come back for seeing it on cinema goes straight to youtube to find this song..best part of the movie in my opinion
This is one of the best songs of MOANA. Such a powerful song!

We read the wind and the sky when the sun is high
We sail the length of the seas on the ocean breeze
At night, we name every star
We know where we are
We know who we are, who we are
Aue, aue
We set a course to find
A brand new Island everywhere we roam
Aue, aue
We keep our Island in our mind
And when it's time to find home
We know the way
Aue, aue,
We are explorers reading every sign
We tell the stories of our elders in a never-ending chain
Aue, aue,
Te fenua, te malie
Nae ko hakilia
We know the way
Aue, aue
We set a course to find
A brand new Island everywhere we roam
Aue, aue
We keep our Island in our mind
And when its time to find home
We know the way

Ryan Karuna omg
Moana film stands for and represents so much culture, joy and greatness. One of my Favs indeed. Love this song especially. Sends feeling of happiness, hope and joy
I love Moana so much because it resembles the Philippine Pre-Colonial culture so much. How our ancestor traveled to our archipelago using boats (balangays), how much the people are in touch with nature, the deities (Te Fiti is parallel to our Mariang Makiling.), and even the traditional tattooing. Everything about it is refreshing and it tugged the roots of my cultural ancestry, it's amazing.
I can't watch this without getting tears in my eyes. It's so beautiful.
Love this song and it was my favorite of the whole movie!
I started singing along! 😂 I love this movie!!! 😂👐❤
It sounds nice in English but the song is absolutely beautiful in the native tongue. My favorite song of the movie.
Im 27...and obsessed with Moana...still lol. This is my favorite Disney song EVER.
This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the movie. When Moana discovers she's a descendant of explorers it's like all her inner feelings were validated and she knew she wasn't crazy lol Definitely my top Disney movie from the past 15 years
Such a beautiful culture, so full of love and acceptance and the celebration of nature and this song is so beautiful and the whole movie was stunning i can't even and this performance just gave me shivers

This song gives me goosebumps... it's like the Moana anthem, just like Circle of Life on The Lion King! Awesome!
Im here because my daughter really love to watch the movie "Moana" 😂 I love this song in the movie.. it touch my soul
An awesome song and an awesome movie, finallly doing some justice to those awesome cultures. Gosh there are so many intersting cultures all around the world, authentic, interesting, connected to nature, with ancient wisdom. We are all a great family, we should look at each other as brothers and sisters, learn from each other, connect, share our similarities and enjoy the diversity. We could turn this world into a paradise. If we were just a little wiser.
I love this song so much that I have been working so hard to sing exactly like Mona's voice
Well done Disney for making a movie of this wonderful culture. I love Moana and the amazing music. Only Disney could do this and do it so damn well!
I hope this song gets nominated for an oscar and all these ppl perform it in the show
love this song. and those 4 dancers looks really cute
I loved this movie so much. ♥ These girls / men are so beautiful !
I come from an island, so it's wonderful to see that island girls / people are finally represented in a Disney movie !
Physically, (even before the movie was out, my friend was there: you look so much like Moana damn!) but also through the themes: family, finding one's way, and this craving to see what's beyond the horizon. :)
I hope Disney will continue to make movies like this ! ♥
Megan Park fuck u hahhaha fuck me
