Thank you Marty, coming from an experienced hiker like you. I just saw your channel, impressive, I have several hours of listening to do now hahah you are lucky to be so close to the Rockies, hiking paradise!
Agreed, was not really easy to choose, it was a pleasure to edit because it allows you to relive the experience again! Sure i was going to include you and Angel in the intro, an impressive hiker like you can't be forgotten!!
Amazingly beautiful! I am planning my thru hike for '23, and have sooo many questions. So, if you want, what would be your greatest piece of advice? Thanks kindly for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.
Thank you Davey!! Glad to hear you’ll thru hike it next year! The planning and booking of campsites and resuply places was the hardest part, couldn’t always respect the dates I had planned, do not start it too early, unless you like mosquitoes and the hot July temperatures, a good training 3 times a week with an heavy backpack at least 1 month before you start...this hike was harder than I had expected, especially section A with the 2 alternating routes…It’s gonna be an epic trail, enjoy every moment!
@@Ratatrail Ya, thanks. The campsite reservations I am finding confusing. I need this park pass or that, and the fee's seem endless. Resupply according to the book seem straight forward. I'm sure with research, and asking questions, I'll figure it out. How late do I have to book sites? Thanks again, your video is sure to get multiple views, from me alone!!!
Appreciated it, thank you! It was more difficult for sure but it gave me time to appreciate the landscape, those little stops were also a way to recover!
This video was so unbelievably well done. I’m hiking the GDT in 2024 and this video gets me even more excited. I don’t know how much you care about views but this type of content deserves so more much views compared to what’s out there. With that being said out of curiosity, why didn’t you hike F and G?
I really wanted to complete section F and G but I had to carry 9-10 days of food because there was no way of resupply between Jasper and Kakwa, there was a trail closure in 2022...it was a 275km + 75km walk to be the route 16, a total of 350km it was to much!
Hope you get the chance to hike this unbelievable beautiful trail. I’ve used: •iPhone 12 Pro Max •Tripod: JOBY Gorillapod 1K Stand with Ulanzi ST-02S Aluminum Phone Tripod Mount •Editing App: VN Started the trail August 1st
That's a good question, there was a few days that were hotter but not extreme to the point of suffering, the protection from the sun and the lighter weight was the reason why I didn't bring shorts. I stayed in my boxers when it was time to go soak in freezing water haha
@@Ratatrail thanks! I’m planning my thru hike this coming summer and trying to dial in the gear I’ll take. I’ve never hiked much in pants, but it seems like the GDT might be best wearing them. Cool videos btw!
@@woodyshepherd6904 Thanks Woody! I saw several hikers in shorts, they had no problem with that, except for the sections with moderate bushwhacking. I wish you a great hike, it’s gonna be epic 🤟🏻
Nicely filmed. You could play 90% of those scenes in any order, and I can tell you exactly where they were filmed. Cheers.

Must have been hard to choose from all your great shots. Thanks for the cameo of me and Angel in the intro!❤

Bro, please let me know when did you conduct this hike?
@@UhuruFrontier It was from August 1st to sept 2nd 2022.
@Ratatrail Thanks Bro.
Did you do this entire trail in pants? If so, did you ever feel like you got too hot on the GDT?
