Notice the flow from east to west and see that every capital city was near the border for protection from the USA and also the main railway ran in the same direction. Today the major highway runs along side the tracks and capitals. Regina was chosen for its proximity and railway costs, not because of favouritism as some believed happened back in the day.
I took my Mom on the Prairie Lily River Boat cruise in Saskatoon for Mother’s day. I gives you views of the river banks most people don’t get to see. They knew what they were doing when they built that city along the river.
fun fact, in the 1960s the City of Regina contracted Minoru Yamasaki to design the future development of Wascana Park, they never went through with his final designs but he did end up designing a few buildings at the UorR Campus, he would later be the lead architect in the design of the original World Trade Center towers in New York
Las Vegas is not the capitol of Nevada or is it any capitol. Its Carson City and ut surs by a large natural lake and multiple creek and small river waterfalls. Its right by Lake Tahoe lol cali nev border
Hi Leisha, your comment about Las Vegas not having been build strategically at a water source is misleading. The historical town of Las Vegas was situated around a natural spring, which, because of overuse, depleted. The aquifer dried out! Today this location is part of the beautiful Botanical Garden, including exhibitions on the Geology, desert wildlife, plants and a learning centre. Only a short bus ride from the Strip. Worth a visit!
also LasVegas is not the capitol of Nevada. its Carson City and I have relatives there. natural forested canyon lake and waterfall area. right by Lake Tahoe lol
it has potential but it’s pretty stagnant on some developments that isn’t the stadium or suburban expansion. There’s recent reform on now increasing infill housing in the city, but still potential.
@@Dantinus "The Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics released its 2022 report that compares the reported crime rates across the country. Out of 35 metropolitan areas, Regina now sits seventh overall in terms of crime rate and fifth in crime severity." (News Article)
Let us see:- Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec City, Charlottetown, Halifax, St. John's just do not need to build a water feature. so Yippee, Regina is better than Edmonton and Winnipeg on the prairies. Oh and Moncton. As I say Yippee! Oh and Ottawa.
Why is Regina better than Edmonton and Winnipeg? I’ve never been to Winnipeg and I don’t have enough experience in Edmonton or Regina to have a strong sense which I prefer.

CBC Get the facts straight. I live in SE Sask, when I go to Costco, I don’t cross a bridge

Saskatchewan folk have been drinking Alberta waste water for a very long time. I really hope the have good water filtration systems.😧
At least we have water

The city that smells like it sounds!

this has got to be the most misleading report on something so insignificant i have ever heard
Toronto is also on a man-made lake - G. Ross Lord Reservoir (aka. Lastman's Lagoon).
The city that rhymes with fun!
That's the only thing it has in common with fun😉
I like random news stories like this. I'm sick of the serious stuff and people's reactions to if all.
Every single terrible town, village and city in Canada is still way better than the best city in the USA.
Is Regina a decent city?
Damn cold in the winter.

I can walk through DT Regina without worrying about getting mugged or stabbed. Can't say the same about Vancouver.

I grew up there and would never move back. The gang crime and homicides when I was growing up was too much for me to want o raise a family there.
Saskatchewan. always trying to draw comparisons to places that actually matter.
😂😂
Of course Sask matters. It's in the way!
Just like Canada and Canadians in general.
CBC get your facts right. Saskatchewan does not have 10000 lakes. Typical cbc reporting
It has thousands of lakes. Rounding is not incorrect
They are quoting what the province says

Did they clean up all the goose crap around it? I worked at the Queen Building for three years, and it was disgusting...
👍
lake Mead is full, it's her hypothesis for it's variations which is empty.....
No one cares
It stinks
Oooof and mosquitoes in summer, been there and experienced it. Don’t want to go back
Lake Mead is drying out because of poor water management, not climate change.
Sask doesn't have, nor claim to have 100,000 lakes. That's Manitoba
Saskatchewan has approximately 94k lakes as well.
