And yes, that scene with the ball in Kung Fu Hustle was a reference to this movie which came out first, cause everyone wanted a Shaolin Soccer sequel, so he squished the ball in the scene in response to everyone by saying, ‘no more soccer!’
The brothers had lost their abilities by the time Sing was trying to recruit them, that’s why they were so hostile and downtrodden and getting their butts whooped at first
You’re right about them having so much fun on set, as some of the scenes they left in are actually bloopers that they didn’t bother to correct
One of them was the scene where the third brother calls the woman to confess his feelings, that mistake was real and he improvised the whole thing afterwards

Also, Hung meant that he was planning to injure so many of the team’s players that they would have to forfeit, which is why he said, ‘goals aren’t the only way to win’
As I also mentioned elsewhere, make sure to check out the original version, it has a lot more, which is why it feels short when you said you wish it was longer

Stephen Chow is definition of Live Action Anime.. his movies are all insane.. i love his "Out of the dark".. look for his old movies.. its GREAT.. Shaolin Soccer inspired by Captain Tsubasa anime..

Yea I was just about to comment that, it’s an unfortunately common mistake reactors make
They cut a lot out from the original, especially relating to Fung’s origin story and Mui’s character development
