    I have always found modern complaints about fuel consumption on powerful cars quirky. 20 -21 mpg for a large, heavy car with an enormous engine, to me at least, sounds great. My Dad had a zodiac Mk3 with 114 bhp and weight of 1250 kg, which never did more than 18mpg. He had a 1600cc Bedford CF Campervan, with 80 bhp and ~ 1600 kg ( as a camper) This never did more than 20 mpg even cruising on radials. You get my drift. More modern engines are amazing.

    I test drove one years ago. Fantastic car. For a barnstorming limousine, it was fantastic!

    I've had a Continental GT for the last 11 years and it now has 210,000 kilometres on the clock. The fastest car on the road - 203 mph when new. Must say that the fastest I've been is around 180 mph but there was still a thousand revs or so left to go when I had to ease off the throttle (or brake like bonkers). It's been a great car to own but the servicing bills have been dire.....many, many thousands over the years but the only time the car has let me down is when the tyres have delaminated.....Pirelli P-zero tyres should not do that in my opinion, but they do.

    You don`t buy an English car for the great fuel consumption. You buy them for the atmosphere inside and the stunning ride. They are real classy cars. If you want good fuel consumption, buy a small Japanese car.

    I did enjoy your review, as I always do. However, surprise, surprise, I don't think I could live with such high fuel consumption. I am going to search the channel's archive to find a review that is more suited to a poor church mouse like me. 🐭

    Good job you didn't try to take it to V-max with those loose and missing suspension bolts.

    The boot is not designed to be operated manually. People force it and manage to strip out the teeth of the plastic gears in the drive motor. Better aftermarket glass filled nylon gears are now available

    Back in the launch bentley claimed these were slower than the "sporty" 2 door
    In fact journos got them to 204 on the autobahn v the 199 mph claim on the 2 door.
    Better aerodynamics!
    Exactly the same chassis and suspension as the 2 door only 50 kg heavier iirc.

    How much was the repair/service bill? Please repair the boot and let us know how it goes/what it costs.

    I believe that there is some sort of plastic pipe somewhere deep in the engine that can go that's an engine out job to rectify. Rather frightening.

    • @ClassicsWorldUK
      @ClassicsWorldUK  17 дней назад +2

      Scarily, numerous jobs on the W12 are 'engine out' - there's a list of 'while you're in there' jobs that can really mount up costs...

    • @JimShearing
      @JimShearing 17 дней назад +1

      There are plastic vacuum pipes running from the front of the car over the transmission and further back that split with age. On the early 2 door GT it's an engine out job, but on the Flying Spur and later GTs specialists can replace them by lifting the engine off its mounts to access them. You've been lucky - I've spent £5k in maintenance in the last 6 months. I agree with your opinion - it is a split personality car - quite noisy for a limo but huge for a sports car. I think VW made it deliberately loud and quite firm riding to match the perceived sporting heritage of Bentley. I believe the newer ones are much softer & quieter, and with less obvious VW parts on the dashboard

    The boot isnt sitting flush??? ITS GOT A HUGE GAP😅😅
    Its a money pit, even a dumb plastic grill costs 1000£, when the leather starts to unglue from the ceiling, the wood lacker cracks, or a rim gets bent, or an electronic gremlin happens, its "dump it" money, so what is the point???
    Honestly its just easier getting rich than avoiding issues with this car😂
