To be fair, it's a sad song. Musicians act a little in their songs to try to get the mood of the song across to the listeners. I first remember this song when Andy Williams' wife left him.

I was in college when I heard Judy Collins sing this in the late 60’s. Your version is incredible. Very beautiful and filled with nuances. This is now my favorite version. A year later I listen again, closing my eyes. I hear so much more, the exquisite detail in your emotional delivery.
Most people relate the song with Joni Mitchell but Judy Recorded it first
Joni Mitchell wrote it and her initial release reflects the feelings behind the song. Judy Collins released her version before Joni, but that is done without any feelings, yet became more popular and her signature song. Joni later made a lessor version using her cigarette-damaged voice. I still love her first release and her live TV performances.

The first track, "Behind My Eyes" is being played on Adult Contemporary Radio across the country, and has been #18 on the AC top 50 chart for some time. The album (EP) is #8 on the Billboard New Releases in Pop.

Judy made the first commercially released version in 1967 for her "Wildflowers" album.
It was written by Mitchell, but, this IS a Judy Collins song.

I looked at Life from both sides now also and I'm glad to come from humble beginnings because I will always appreciate the smallest blessings all my life- simple things like running water and freedom, rights and protection, and private property. And yes, there are all kinds of love. When I lost my mother, I learned a hard truth- that loving can lead to losing and so we do our best to care about others on this side of life.
