Hot take: I really like this bracket method. Guaranteeing teams from the same region go on the opposite side is worth the lopsided first round to me. The thing I hate most in international LoL tournaments is watching teams from the same region play each other. I don’t need to see regional finals or semifinals round 2 electric boogalo. I want to see cross region play.
well that means that west must win against east which right now I don't know the percentage of that will happen.
But thats kind of unfair & predictable. Its GUARANTEED that teams from the different regions will play each other.

Love different opinions, but personally I hate this "drafting" system that different regions cant play against each other. If we didn't have that we could have had 3-4 teams from Korea/LpL in same tourney and had a great tournament instead of this crappy system. I'm a mega fanboy and I'm not even the least interested in any 1 of these matches. Even Play-ins was more hyped than the first round of main tournament because some of those were for me anyway unknown and excited to see how they do. My interest in international league tournaments for me have gone way down. I was even much, much more excited for emea masters than this one.
In what world is this a hot take?
I disagree highly with the take that Playins wasn't fun this series. I really liked it this year. I didn't feel like the Wildcard teams were that bad either. I was genuinely impressed by the spunk/ fight the teams brought out.

I'm glad Powerspike is back this week because i really wanted to start AG1, but i was waiting for the link to be on a recent video just in case it didn't support the content I consume regularly.
I think Dgon was more correct on Flyquest because a lack of discipline and foundation to fall back on when stressed is when you end up in a freefall that creates the desperation.
As someone who's been watching NBA playoffs, its interesting to watch the timeouts entirely to stop the opposing teams tempo/morale and slow your own teams stress choking. Would be interesting if the team got like 1 short time out in a game lol. Or even a series.
Also on Summoning Insight, Damonte's pitch over why Thorin should bet on them this time around - compared to their finals performance - was really empty on tangible in game stuff to work on. It's one coach obviously, and not a strategic/gameplay one, but his "sales" pitch was all about how their mental and attitude would be better. Something about mental/attitude: it's something that's heavily improved by having fundamentals you know are solid, by knowing you worked on your gameplay and identifying your strengths, not just by saying "hey don't underestimate the enemy".
Compare that to say, TES. Against Fnatic they probably got a bit shell shocked by Fnatic's individual player level. This never cost them a winnable game though, games 1 and 3 their fundamentals: draft, fight selection, lane assignments, were enough to win them these games. The one they lost was a fair loss from 4/5 players of Fnatic gaining advantages and playing the game out with at best minor mistakes, they realized this and focused on the things they could improve upon (mid champion matchup) for game 3. That's the mental you get from practice, discipline and realizing your strengths as a team.
@@Zwijger exactly, Dom brings up dragon setups alot and you can see how a good team with a lead will always set up good vision early, where a bad team with a lead with scramble, have less vision and be less prepared and tend to end up flipping fights.

The greatest irony is that Bwipo and Inspired were the ONLY problem in this series. Massu and Busio domestically were the weakest link but here they played solid, and you can argue Jensen was unimpactful but that's because enemy mid collected two gift wrapped kills early on which accelerated him hard. And who have those over? Oh yeah, Bwipo and Inspired in the most bronze chase of the tournament

bwipo has been riding that World's 2018 appearance forever
Bwipo was top 2 (at worst top 3) toplaner in EU from 2019 to 2021 after that. He swapped to jungle and remained top 2-3 in his role at worst. He had a bad year on TL (everyone there did) and had a bad NA finals and second round MSI playins against PSG on FLY.
Is he the best player ever? No. He is a bit more inconsistent than he should be and was kinda running it vs PSG (and T1 after that first blood). However, he is still top 2 in NA and maybe top 3 now due to roster changes. He is still pretty good

Inero made 3rd with the Dardoch/Huni Echo Fox roster in Spring. They were basically the second best team in playoffs as the only team not 3-0’d by TL.
Except C9 was ahead in all 3 games they lost, and players in TL have said that C9 was the second best team in that playoffs and it was weird they had to play in quarters.

If the second match in Play-ins wasnt a potential repeat match that would make both the 1st and potential 2nd match more impactful. Lets say FLY beats PSG in their first encounter but this time PSG plays the loser of the other group it both gives the losing team a second chance at qualifying as intended aswell as create a fresh matchup in both rounds rather then this repeat matchup. Im not bitter about FLY being taken out and honestly felt it in my core they would lose the 2nd matchup, but this two time facing off within the same 4 team group can be avoided regardless of which teams played it this edition.

Umti is a bit underrated. He been kick'n it in LCK for years before LCS, playing against some of the best junglers ever, week in week out. It's probably the only position TL matches up well vs TES. Just my two cents.

Regarding the Perkz opinions out there. It is so weird to me when people hate on aging or decline goats. I see it in hockey all the time and in some other sports too and it just makes no sense to me. But i guess they are the same people who cannot praise one streamer/caster without bashing someone else, because in their head they can only think one person is good at a time.
The problem with those Goats is generally they still believe they are the best and normally harm their teams… like Perkz for the last 3 years has spent all his time smacktalking everyone whilst simultaneously running it down nearly every game and still trying to claim he is the best

The reason flyquest lost. They need the extra two hours they get in Na to practice the match ups. Bwipo lost a trade and lost the game and lost his mind.
I have been saying this for so long tian is just a worse penaut, both dirty inter from time to time and both can carry, but peanut is much more consistent in domestic, and tian is a dirty inter in domestic as well a lot of the time
I feel like Tian can have higher peaks but it's not worth the inconsistency

I think Monte is massively underplaying Canna to KC. At worst he'll be 4th best top in LEC (after BB Photon Irrelevant). If he just plays on his average level he'll probably be the best or second best easily. The thing is, he doesn't have to be Renekton/Ksante/Gnar bot in LEC. He can hard force Yone/Jayce/TF/Rumble etc and just shit on EU toplaners.
This doesn’t happen anymore. Imports don’t go to major regions and just destroy other players in lane. Everyone is good, everyone can hang. The team play is where the eastern regions have the upper hand.

As much as geng choke in the past 2 years with Chovy, peanut/Doran was on that roster everytime as well and they also underperform a lot in those series. This is finally his chance to not choke now that geng actually have a different roster. If he choke again, I’m afraid he can’t be the international allegation no more.

The gap is so insanely huge nowadays, I really can’t listen to much more EU and NA cope. Current western ambitions should be to play any LCK / LPL team 2-3, just make it to 5 games once.
