In general guitarists always stand out, specially when they get solos left and right like these two. Bass and drums always play a supportive role, so I understand the lack of appreciation that they get, regardless, this band wouldnt work if Haruna and Miho werent top tier musicians just like Miyako and Midori.

Lovebites really do make it hard to listen to other bands because they set the bar so high. But do know that they also do play lots of chords. You can see it when Miyako will chord while Midori solos, and then they trade off and Midori will chord while Miyako solos. They also will frequently arpeggiate their chords which look like solos to the average viewers when they are actually the individual notes of a chord played in rapid succession. Miyako and Midori are probably the best guitar duo on the planet at this point in time. And welcome back to Cindy!
love your guys reactions. those 2 songs are classics from lovebites. shadowmaker was one of the first songs i heard from them and that guitar solo never gets old. if you really love shadowmaker you really need to see "When Destinies Align". They take everything to the next level and its an amazing song and you wont regret hearing that one
My all time favorite pair of guitarists. Sensational ability. When the Shadowmaker video was made the band was just starting out. They were amazing then, and now they are even more so, phenomenal!! Their newest music video "Nameless Warrior" shows highlights of the band's journey from its inception all the way to today. Just FYI, Burden of Time isn't a regular music videos, it's from a livestream concert they did. They went into their studio and played their entire first album live(they couldn't play in front of an audience due to pandemic stuff), then they released it on DVD. There's not an audience, but Burden of Time is very much a live video.
A word in defense of Dany: Lovebites and The Warning are trying to achieve different things. While it is true that Dany is not as virtuosic on guitar as Midori and Miyako, she plays a style (and the whole band is oriented towards a style) where she didn't have to train for it: hard rock with a slight alternative/punkish touch versus classic heavy metal. Consider that at the same time as she plays guitar, she is also the lead singer. If you ever watch The Warning again, pay attention to Ale, the bassist. I would put her up with Miho (ex-bassist of Lovebites) any day. Again, that is due for both to the role they have to fill. Miho has to be a good, fast, nimble bassist because heavy metal. Ale has to be a good, fast, nimble bassist because The Warning have only one guitar that doesn't play eye-bleeding stuff, so she has to fill out the sound. It's all due to requirements. That said, Japanese musicians are more likely to be completely fanatical about practising, I guess.

Thank you for this double-header (what happened to the first part of Shadowmaker?) A lot of fans say just watch the lives, but their MVs are spectacular too. Shadowmaker was the one that broke them to the world (second official MV they posted) and caused a lot of jaw dislocations. Midori's cocky grin while during her shred solo is legendary.

As much as I like M&M (the twin guitars) and their solos: All 5 of them stand out! You should listen to your wife more often... ;-) Bass and drums lay the groundwork for those excellent guitars, they keep the story running. Haruna (dr) is one of the best of her kind, she's relentlessly powering the machine. Such a tiny person (1.45, 4'9") has the power and stamina (and the technique to let it look effortless). Miho (ba) has exceptional skills as well, and she was founder and leader of the group, and she wrote most of the songs (in cooperation with other band members). She had personal reasons to change her life, that made it impossible for her to go on, so she left the band in Aug 2021. The band tried to make it work, but eventually, it wasn't possible. (possible reasons: Covid and death of the father.) LOVEBITES invited hundreds of bass players all over the world (no restrictions on gender, age, or nationality) to find a replacement. Only few players could even play the backlog of the group the way, it has to be done. Up to Oct 2022, they found two outstanding women and chose Fami in the end, a 20 (now 21) year young bassist with experience, a solo album, and a RUclips channel with 600 K followers (6 times the count for the group). Fans were sceptical, but I think, she's a more than equal replacement for poor Miho. On the "new" album "Judgement Day" (Feb 2023), you can see, that Fami has already contributed to a slightly different approach, that looks very promising! As for Miyako, she may play guitar, piano, keyboard, keytar (and sometimes drums for fun) and probably 100 other instruments, but it can't be overstated, that she is kind of a musical genius, responsible for most of the best musik played by LOVEBITES. Every member has already written song(s), even Haruna (Bravehearted), but the music and arrangements by Miyako are outstanding. Asami said "every band should have a Miyako" (I hope, that's correct). Which takes us to Asami: Not every song suits her vocals, so that she can shine, it's complicated with songs, in which the instrumentals blow her voice away, and she has an uphill battle. But she does her best, has an outstanding voice and extremely good technique and vibrato. I've seen some reactions from vocal coaches who know better than me, they were all impressed. She's taking risks, but hits high notes almost certain. Her stage presence is enormous, and her ballet and R&B upcomings help a lot to fit the role she is playing. Her pronounciation makes her english sometimes unintelligible, but I'm fine with subtitles. They are singing in english, damn, that's not her native language. Also her (and also Miyakos) english has improved a lot over time (also in the hiatus). Fans like Asamis voice a lot, who cares, if you understand it. BTW: Sometimes, this pronounciation helps the melody! That was a lot of details, maybe you can try to restart your voyage with new material (new album) and a new bass player... ;-)

I definitely get it.. you like guitars..who doesn't like sick guitar solos from the most technically sic'nlegit guitarists in the world without peer. That said; opinions are subjective and I respect yours. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate from a lot of people especially guitarists for this. To be literal it's the bassist Who provides the intercession of drums to guitars. Miho has to take the percussion, convert to string then ship it to guitar.. Asami make mistake not a problem Midori Miyako make a mistake again not an issue most won't even catch it. IFF There is an earthquake or other disaster And Haruna does make a glitch, Miho fills it (well) before she sends it. Being live. They have one shot and the rub. If she makes a mistake during their stellar flawless riffs it would feel like a railroad spike jammed in your ear. And The solo transitions would be a train wreck. But she won't .. you pick a bassist and I'd lay 8-5 on Miho 24/7 TOS. ASAMI; enchantress. a gliding siren. Prancing around WRK'n the crowd. Like a Japanese Stevie Nicks. HARUNA RELENTLESS Machine. Except you lost the first half of Shadow Maker. I love Burden of Time and it's Southern Rock feel. Luckily Cindy caught Miyako playing the keyboard and guitar at the same time. Pay more attention my dude. Shadow Maker was the first song I heard, and still my favorite. I love the early years of the band. They seem more into the music back then.
Great reaction to two very good songs. The thing that constantly strikes me is that they are as precise and perfect live where they have no opportunity for retakes. There must be many hundreds of hours of practice behind this. Haruna on drums is like a robot, or a metronome, she never misses a beat and her fills are intricate and perfect. They are very accomplished musicians all of them. Guitar wise they are special, though, i'd have to agree... The difference in style makes them a perfect pairing too.
For decades I've followed Megadeth as my No1 band. Seen them live, brought the merch, have signed autographs and a picture with Mustaine and Kiko. The Strange thing is...Lovebites are stealing my heart and very soul away from Mustaine and Co. Sort of feels like I'm cheating on my wife...Maybe the answer is Polygamy and I can love them both equally.

Lovebites = Metal / Hard Rock......The Warning = Classic Rock / Hard Rock. You reacted to "The Warnings" TEDx talk. The Guitar player was 16 yo, the drummer was 14 yo and the bass player was 12 yo. You simply cannot compare them. Lovebite members are in their late 20s / early 30s. You should listen to some of the new songs of The warning, they have evolved. Nevertheless Lovebites is my favourite metal band, while The Warning is my favourite Rock Band.
I can't compare Lovebites and The Warning because to me they are completely different bands. I agree that Midori and Miyako are elite guitarists but I believe that Dany is "evolving" into a great guitarist before our eyes too, not that I'm comparing them lol!
Ohhhh .... difficult to compare Lovebites and The Warning. The Warning is masters in power trio rock. They sound so big and are so catchy. Very good song writing and Daniela do some magic with her guitar to make it sound bigger than life. They also have an extremely good audience connection and they also have three good singers. Lovebites IS some notches more technical (even though pau is no slouch). No one can cover a Lovebites song accurately. They have to find some musicians that do not exist. Its as simple as that. But, I doubt they can play a The Warning song as good as The Warning.

Oh dear. “Carrying this band”. Whilst it’s without question that Miyako and Midori are arguably two of the best guitarists playing today, which together makes them THE best lead duo on earth, they do not carry this band. The reason Lovebites are so good is because they have an almost serendipitous alignment of the best at what each does in one band. Find me a better vocalist (for this genre) than Asami, who can belt out lyrically challenging vocals for two hours straight…pitch perfect. Find a drummer that would be as good as Haruna because her style is unmistakably hers… and it’s crucial to Lovebites sound. Like Asami, she plays at full stretch for two hours. And yes, Miho as ex bassist will be a hard act to follow. She is on a par with her hero, Steve Harris. Again, flat out for two hours The Lovebites sound is unique, partly because of the guitar duo, but mainly because in their case, 1+1+1+1+1 = 100. They are the best metal band I’ve heard in my 62 years on this planet BECAUSE of the unique combination that is better than the sum of its already impressive parts. Sorry, Cindy is right (and I like her…..😎)

Well I guess some already mentioned, but the video with Burden of time is NOT music video, it is studio play LIVE. Its actually a real live performance, just not on stage with audience but in studio and broadcasted online. Covid... 🐺Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, and began writing songs on a keyboard at fourteen.
Haruna is the smallest (4 '9 ") and the youngest of the ladies, but appearances are deceiving. When Haruna sits down at the drums, this is the "small Nuclear Reactor." She is one of the best drummers in Japan.

🐺Midori (blonde hair) started to learn piano at around two years of age and electric organ at eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist! She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar.
Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka is an international music school , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA.
🐺Miyako (black hair) has played classical piano since she was three and guitar at the age of 18. A pianist of the highest level, playing classical pieces with ease. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the group, she wrote over 50% of the music.
* Miyako and Mi-Ya are the same lady. On the debut EP "The Lovebites" ( May, 2017) and on the first album "Awakening from Abyss"(October, 2017) , her name was written as Mi-Ya , on the following albums - Miyako.
* One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same group is a crime!😊
🐺Asami comes from a R&B and soul music background . Starting at the age of two, she performed classical ballet for about 16 years (notice how her hands move) before moving to America after high school to study jazz and hip-hop dance. Plays the piano.
Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the group's songs. She speaks English, albeit with a Japanese accent. All songs LOVEBITES are written in English.

In general guitarists always stand out, specially when they get solos left and right like these two. Bass and drums always play a supportive role, so I understand the lack of appreciation that they get, regardless, this band wouldnt work if Haruna and Miho werent top tier musicians just like Miyako and Midori.

Lovebites really do make it hard to listen to other bands because they set the bar so high. But do know that they also do play lots of chords. You can see it when Miyako will chord while Midori solos, and then they trade off and Midori will chord while Miyako solos. They also will frequently arpeggiate their chords which look like solos to the average viewers when they are actually the individual notes of a chord played in rapid succession. Miyako and Midori are probably the best guitar duo on the planet at this point in time. And welcome back to Cindy!
Haruna is the unsung (by most) heroine of Lovebites. She steers the juggernaut whilst the others provide the power.

love your guys reactions. those 2 songs are classics from lovebites. shadowmaker was one of the first songs i heard from them and that guitar solo never gets old. if you really love shadowmaker you really need to see "When Destinies Align". They take everything to the next level and its an amazing song and you wont regret hearing that one
My all time favorite pair of guitarists. Sensational ability. When the Shadowmaker video was made the band was just starting out. They were amazing then, and now they are even more so, phenomenal!! Their newest music video "Nameless Warrior" shows highlights of the band's journey from its inception all the way to today. There is a 3D billboard in Tokyo and their video plays on it, above the city.

Just FYI, Burden of Time isn't a regular music videos, it's from a livestream concert they did. They went into their studio and played their entire first album live(they couldn't play in front of an audience due to pandemic stuff), then they released it on DVD. There's not an audience, but Burden of Time is very much a live video.
A word in defense of Dany: Lovebites and The Warning are trying to achieve different things. While it is true that Dany is not as virtuosic on guitar as Midori and Miyako, she plays a style (and the whole band is oriented towards a style) where she didn't have to train for it: hard rock with a slight alternative/punkish touch versus classic heavy metal. Consider that at the same time as she plays guitar, she is also the lead singer.
If you ever watch The Warning again, pay attention to Ale, the bassist. I would put her up with Miho (ex-bassist of Lovebites) any day. Again, that is due for both to the role they have to fill. Miho has to be a good, fast, nimble bassist because heavy metal. Ale has to be a good, fast, nimble bassist because The Warning have only one guitar that doesn't play eye-bleeding stuff, so she has to fill out the sound. It's all due to requirements.
That said, Japanese musicians are more likely to be completely fanatical about practising, I guess.
That should be the new mantra.... "they're good but they're not Lovebites good!"

Thank you for this double-header (what happened to the first part of Shadowmaker?) A lot of fans say just watch the lives, but their MVs are spectacular too. Shadowmaker was the one that broke them to the world (second official MV they posted) and caused a lot of jaw dislocations. Midori's cocky grin while during her shred solo is legendary.

Perhaps both of you should see Lovebites cover of Eagles Fly Free and see the bassist and drummer get some solos.
One of my favorite songs of theirs is Liar and there's a video of them performing that song live in the studio just like the Burden of Time video.
Haruna and Miho are the backbone of this band.
100% There is a special chemistry that exists between drummers and bassists. Finding a bassist that can click with HARUNA will be key.

As much as I like M&M (the twin guitars) and their solos: All 5 of them stand out! You should listen to your wife more often... ;-)
Bass and drums lay the groundwork for those excellent guitars, they keep the story running.
Haruna (dr) is one of the best of her kind, she's relentlessly powering the machine. Such a tiny person (1.45, 4'9") has the power and stamina (and the technique to let it look effortless).
Miho (ba) has exceptional skills as well, and she was founder and leader of the group, and she wrote most of the songs (in cooperation with other band members).
She had personal reasons to change her life, that made it impossible for her to go on, so she left the band in Aug 2021. The band tried to make it work, but eventually, it wasn't possible.
(possible reasons: Covid and death of the father.) LOVEBITES invited hundreds of bass players all over the world (no restrictions on gender, age, or nationality) to find a replacement.
Only few players could even play the backlog of the group the way, it has to be done. Up to Oct 2022, they found two outstanding women and chose Fami in the end, a 20 (now 21) year young bassist with experience, a solo album, and a RUclips channel with 600 K followers (6 times the count for the group). Fans were sceptical, but I think, she's a more than equal replacement for poor Miho.
On the "new" album "Judgement Day" (Feb 2023), you can see, that Fami has already contributed to a slightly different approach, that looks very promising!
As for Miyako, she may play guitar, piano, keyboard, keytar (and sometimes drums for fun) and probably 100 other instruments, but it can't be overstated, that she is kind of a musical genius, responsible for most of the best musik played by LOVEBITES. Every member has already written song(s), even Haruna (Bravehearted), but the music and arrangements by Miyako are outstanding.
Asami said "every band should have a Miyako" (I hope, that's correct). Which takes us to Asami: Not every song suits her vocals, so that she can shine, it's complicated with songs, in which the
instrumentals blow her voice away, and she has an uphill battle. But she does her best, has an outstanding voice and extremely good technique and vibrato. I've seen some reactions from vocal coaches who know better than me, they were all impressed. She's taking risks, but hits high notes almost certain. Her stage presence is enormous, and her ballet and R&B upcomings help a lot
to fit the role she is playing. Her pronounciation makes her english sometimes unintelligible, but I'm fine with subtitles. They are singing in english, damn, that's not her native language. Also her
(and also Miyakos) english has improved a lot over time (also in the hiatus). Fans like Asamis voice a lot, who cares, if you understand it. BTW: Sometimes, this pronounciation helps the melody!
That was a lot of details, maybe you can try to restart your voyage with new material (new album) and a new bass player... ;-)

Drummer Haruna is relentless like a metronome, both Miho and Fami master their bass (for Fami's capabilities, you should visit "Alien Alien" from my list, it's in her RUclips channel will almost 700K subscribers), the dual guitars M&M (for Midori and Miyako) is most certainly the best duo for trading guitar solos and harmonizing, and Asami's voice is stellar with big range, powerful belt and good vibrato. I definitely get it.. you like guitars..who doesn't like sick guitar solos from the most technically sic'nlegit guitarists in the world without peer. That said; opinions are subjective and I respect yours. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate from a lot of people especially guitarists for this. To be literal it's the bassist Who provides the intercession of drums to guitars. Miho has to take the percussion, convert to string then ship it to guitar.. Asami make mistake not a problem
Midori Miyako make a mistake again not an issue most won't even catch it. IFF There is an earthquake or other disaster And Haruna does make a glitch, Miho fills it (well) before she sends it.
Being live. They have one shot and the rub.
If she makes a mistake during their stellar flawless riffs it would feel like a railroad spike jammed in your ear. And The solo transitions would be a train wreck. But she won't .. you pick a bassist and I'd lay 8-5 on Miho 24/7 TOS.

Except you lost the first half of Shadow Maker. I love Burden of Time and it's Southern Rock feel. Luckily Cindy caught Miyako playing the keyboard and guitar at the same time. Pay more attention my dude. Shadow Maker was the first song I heard, and still my favorite. I love the early years of the band. They seem more into the music back then.

Great reaction to two very good songs. The thing that constantly strikes me is that they are as precise and perfect live where they have no opportunity for retakes. There must be many hundreds of hours of practice behind this. Haruna on drums is like a robot, or a metronome, she never misses a beat and her fills are intricate and perfect. They are very accomplished musicians all of them. Guitar wise they are special, though, i'd have to agree... The difference in style makes them a perfect pairing too.

For decades I've followed Megadeth as my No1 band. Seen them live, brought the merch, have signed autographs and a picture with Mustaine and Kiko. The Strange thing is...Lovebites are stealing my heart and very soul away from Mustaine and Co. Sort of feels like I'm cheating on my wife...Maybe the answer is Polygamy and I can love them both equally.

Lovebites = Metal / Hard Rock......The Warning = Classic Rock / Hard Rock. You reacted to "The Warnings" TEDx talk. The Guitar player was 16 yo, the drummer was 14 yo and the bass player was 12 yo. You simply cannot compare them. Lovebite members are in their late 20s / early 30s. You should listen to some of the new songs of The warning, they have evolved.
Nevertheless Lovebites is my favourite metal band, while The Warning is my favourite Rock Band.
I can't compare Lovebites and The Warning because to me they are completely different bands. I agree that Midori and Miyako are elite guitarists but I believe that Dany is "evolving" into a great guitarist before our eyes too, not that I'm comparing them lol!

Ohhhh .... difficult to compare Lovebites and The Warning.
The Warning is masters in power trio rock. They sound so big and are so catchy. Very good song writing and Daniela do some magic with her guitar to make it sound bigger than life. They also have an extremely good audience connection and they also have three good singers.
Lovebites IS some notches more technical (even though pau is no slouch). No one can cover a Lovebites song accurately. They have to find some musicians that do not exist. Its as simple as that. But, I doubt they can play a The Warning song as good as The Warning.

Well since you like awesome guitarists, you should check out Nemophila, pronounced Ne-mo-fee-la. They are an all-female Japanese metal band and they also have two lead guitarists. React to their song Revive please.
Oh dear. “Carrying this band”. Whilst it’s without question that Miyako and Midori are arguably two of the best guitarists playing today, which together makes them THE best lead duo on earth, they do not carry this band. The reason Lovebites are so good is because they have an almost serendipitous alignment of the best at what each does in one band. Find me a better vocalist (for this genre) than Asami, who can belt out lyrically challenging vocals for two hours straight…pitch perfect. Find a drummer that would be as good as Haruna because her style is unmistakably hers… and it’s crucial to Lovebites sound. Like Asami, she plays at full stretch for two hours. And yes, Miho as ex bassist will be a hard act to follow. She is on a par with her hero, Steve Harris. Again, flat out for two hours The Lovebites sound is unique, partly because of the guitar duo, but mainly because in their case, 1+1+1+1+1 = 100. They are the best metal band I’ve heard in my 62 years on this planet BECAUSE of the unique combination that is better than the sum of its already impressive parts. Sorry, Cindy is right (and I like her…..😎)
Could not agree more. This rhythm section is a very rare alignment of stylistic synergy and ASAMI's operatic vocals and command of the stage completes this titan of a band 🤘🐺🤘
