  • Flush with victory from the battle of Jericho, the Israelites were ready to continue conquering the Promised Land, but pride and sin caused them to flee before their enemies. In this message, we learn that we must constantly rely on God's power instead of our own strength if we want to be successful in our Christian walk.
This teaching is from our series 06 Joshua - 2017 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Albuquerque.

The account of Achan shows that nothing escapes God’s attention - He is omnipresent (all present) , omnipotent (all powerful) and omniscient (all knowing). This should give us comfort and assurance in this world of uncertainty and danger that we live in. To those who are victims of crime - know that nobody gets away with anything that God doesn’t know about. God bless.

To God be the glory! When I take just a little chunk from Proverb 3:5-6, even just a little bit and put even just a little pride in me instead of trusting in the Lord with everything in me with all of my being…
    Here comes chastisement, my
Daddy always taught us to search our hearts when things happens not in our favor, search our hearts , repent and just cling to the Lord and pray without ceasing which is a way of life, and in all things give thanks and never question God.

Pastor Skip, To God be the glory for you are such a blessing!
I’m in Joshua 8 this morning. After this, I’m streamlining your retreat at the Cove and will worship with y’all at 0930. Thank you so much for expounding Romans 8 one of my favorite Chapter. Praise the Lord for leading me to this retreat the very day that y’all started . It was already filled when I tried to register so I just registered for the streamline. Thank you Lord for this precious retreat that had fed my spirit. To You Lord we give all the honor and glory!

what Physics was applied at the falling of walls of Jericho? There must be something about the weight of the more than 2 million people marching around the portress and then the blaring of the trumpets.

Wow! Maybe their enemies didn't want to roll over and die. What did the people that lived there before Israel do to deserve God's wrath other then to be in Joshua's way? Should we not only ask why God wants us to win, but also ask why do the people we are taking something from deserve to lose (in this case both their land and their lives)?

You really should study the bible or watch the commentary from the beginning, not just watch a random chapter. It's explained why. They were absolute scum of the earth, they sacrificed their babies by burning them alive. They practiced just about every sin imaginable and they had hundreds of years to repent. According to Genesis 15:16 God waited until their sin reached it's full measure before destroying them. And it's not because Israel was good that god destroyed them, it's because THEY were evil. Likewise, later in the bible, Israel turns to idol worship and sin. And just like their enemies, God starts to destroy Israel until they repent.
