    Thank you for taking me up on my suggestion to visit Sainte-Agnes. You both demonstrated incredible courage. And Elton was superb! We're glad that you enjoyed lunch at Le St. Yves. We actually stayed there for a week back in 2018, in one of their new rooms. It was quite adequate, and the meals were wonderful (especially the frites!!). We took the bus up and down the mountain to and from Menton (although sometimes we walked down to Menton on the road). That sign you saw along the road near Peille? That signs honors 2 Canadian and 3 American soldiers who lost their lives there in 1944. We found it while walking along the road one day. Aren't the ruins of the chateau something? Quite a climb, but well worth it. Enjoy the week ahead! Best video yet! Looking forward to next week. :-) Bye! Carol (NY)
    Oh, by the way, the Logman From Alcatraz? That's Georges, the owner of Le St. Yves, where you had lunch.

    We love your trips & sending hugs , but please orientate Elton when you arrive at a charging point to save on extension leads & don’t leave connection outside the car so no one can interfere. It’s all divine so please keep doing it , 🤩 hugs

    • @MeandMonAmi
      @MeandMonAmi  2 года назад

      To be honest we use extension because putting its own cable back in the hole is such a pain in the butt. But we have figured out putting the extension socket inside the car (also in the hole!) Are extensions bad?

    I think those little square holes in the stone walls of the chateau were not for shooting arrows. They were for inserting scaffolding beams for the workers to stand on as they built up the walls. That was explained on another RUclips video where a nice young Dutchman is fixing up two very old stone houses in the Italian alps somewhere. Another question about Elton: once you were at the top, was it really necessary to charge Elton? Wouldn't the regenerative braking on the long way down the mountain have restored a lot of the original charge?

    I keep thinking of the notorious stretches on Colorado’s fabled Independence Pass - not for the faint of heart! There are no guardrails on the ascent snd descent on the eastward side of the mountain and after the summit on the westward side, a one lane stretch of road with no guardrails - for a few miles! The D22 is notorious for being the narrowest mountain road in France if not the world. Elton was like born to navigate it because of the compact nature of the vehicle. Fully charging an EV is not usually a good idea at the top of a mountain because it leaves no room in the battery for allowing the regeneration to be collected. Did you find that your brakes got a bit hot while going going back down the mountain, Tim?

    • @MeandMonAmi
      @MeandMonAmi  2 года назад

      I didn’t know that. Luckily there was a bit of up and down on the way back so no harm done, hopefully! I didn’t notice the brakes getting hot but round here is so hilly I imagine they will need replacing more often than usual? What is usual?

    • @blownb310
      @blownb310 2 года назад

      @@MeandMonAmi I'm sure that there wasn't any harm done. I don't know if you can feel the regeneration [regen] in an Ami when going downhill or coasting. It feels a bit like a gas car being put into a lower gear and 'holding back' a bit. This is when the car is recapturing the energy that would normally be lost by the friction brakes and recharging the battery a bit. On most EVs, if the battery is fully charged and you go down a hill, the regen is temporarily turned off because the battery is already full. You will then not have that feeling of slowing itself down while coasting and will need to step on the brake pedal more than usual until some power has been used from the battery.

    Quite! fitted on your garage wall they cost around £1000 pounds and sit there analysing your entire driving life. Round here there are lots of wet muddy roads to drive on with a few rough bits. I will have to drive carefully. It does turn heads around here though. Incidentally my other car is my beloved Pluriel Amelie. 17 years old now and still in fair condition. I didn't see any in your videos, are there any still around in your part of France? Kevin.

  • @kevinlawley7830
    @kevinlawley7830 Год назад

    No, unfortunately they've fitted with a large cumbersome black pistol style plug. I have been on to the Ami helpline and they have found two possible chargers both way out of town, no cafe's near so I'll have to read a book while I wait. Only 19% autonomy left now. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Suppose I can't send a photo on this site? Kevin.
