You have taught me to buy quality rather than quantity. I’m now investing in makeup rather than buying every new thing that comes out. The brush tips are fantastic. THANKYOU from Australia 🇦🇺
I don’t usually comment on your videos but I just feel like I have to. I’ve honestly fallen in love with the types of videos you create because you take a different approach to makeup that you’re a gem in the beauty community!! You’re style of approaching and doing makeup is flawless and you give your viewers that opportunity to breath, I love your style and the way you approach makeup and beauty
I love this. This is a great way to include all. The young girls who dont have much money, the busy moms who dont have much time (and possibly much money), the mature ladies who likes a few luxurious products but dont want to get overwhelmed by choices etc. And also its SO much more environmentally friendly if people adopt a mindset of owning what they utilize and not collect to excess. As more and more brands go cruelty free and organic and vegan and so on, there will be market competition to create the better options that will satisfy peoples wish for efficency and ethics and not only the wish for affordability and ability to buy lots and lots of stuff.
Yessss! I have learned less is always more. RUclips made me buy sooo many things and spend so much money on it. I thought I would need all of this, but I'm happier with good basic products. It's like breathing
Same, I discovered makeup a couple of years ago and was blindly following everyone's recommandations on yt cause I didn't know what to buy back then, and most of them I really didn't liked that much or couldn't make it work cause they were all about full coverage and bold eyeshadow and I prefer barely there makeup
Since I'm a trucker I can relate to keeping my travel makeup minimal. I love this video and would love to see you apply your whole face showing us using the minimal brushes you showed 😁
I agree 100! You should ya what we need. Now show us to apply g/f 🙂🙂! Great video Shelby! I’ve been wanting a minimum makeup routine like this. I’ve been using Burts bee makeup. I LOVE it. It’s like 5 products I use.
Love love love loveee! My goal is to have a minimal makeup collection that I will use over and over rather than hoarding products I’ll use once every or couple months 💕 thank you!!!!!
I actually just use my hands and fingers to apply my bb cream, concealer and cream blush. I know it's not the most sanitary way but hey it works and I find they look better on my skin that way.
I actually find fingers and hands much more sanitary than brushes (although I love brushes). We can just wash our hands quickly before makeup while brushes.. I don’t wash them after every single time I use them and I bet most people don’t too.
The best recommendation I got from youtube in 2019 is Real Techniques Setting Brush. $3 in target. Not only can do full face makeup with it, also easy to wash clean after each use and dry out quickly for next use. I have one in office, one at home, one in Gym bag. Thank you for that video. By the way, I use lipsticks as stick blush.
The Fenty Matchstix are my ABSOLUTE favorite!!! I have 4 total that I use for a full face of makeup (foundation, contour, eyeshadow & highlight). but on a normal no foundation day I use only 2 for quick eyeshadow and highlight. They're awesome!
After seeing Tati's Blendiful I am seriously considering purchasing to see if it would be a good substitute for my complexion brushes, especially for travel. I love your no nonsense, non Instagram approach to makeup.
It’s like you were reading my mind. I am in the process of simplifying everything in my life, including makeup. And it’s not an easy journey because I have been a cosmetics junkie for decades. Love this content, Shelby. You inspire me in every video.
I usually have those make -up remover wipes around. They work great to swipe clean brushes between shades of color. I pull one out, and keep it handy as I apply my make-up. Keeps my brushes cleaner until I have time do a complete swish and dry overnight routine. Tip: any shampoo works to clean brushes. No need for costly brush cleaners.
I so feel this! I love having a minimalist set for busy mornings where I don’t need to think about but can trust to give me a nice put together look for the day.
I love all makeup but am never the type to switch up my actual routine. I like what I like and what works for me. I wear the same makeup every single day. It is a rare occasion that I change it so I try not to buy makeup too often because I know it will just collect dust. I like your videos because if I am open to a change when one of my products runs out, I will consider your recommendations because your taste is always up my alley. 👌😁 Plus, I trust your opinions. You're very thorough with your explanations of what a product is like and how it performs. I appreciate that!
100% yesss!! I couldn’t agree more and this is exactly what I’ve done over the past year! I’m so much happier with the products I have found! I’ve gone like 90% cream based products and 95% of those are clean! I use the RT foundation brush for me whole base and face! Everything but the eyes and I love how simple and flawless it is👏 love this video and the whole philosophy behind it!👍
Oh Yeah my focus this year is to downsize and organize my small space where we live. I just retired and realized the makeup looks you create are up my ally🤓 I have purchased several of your recommendations like brushes, Neutrogena foundation. Do you ever share your entire makeup collection? I plan to start with putting aside anything I have not used since I retired and create my POD and in 3 mos review stuff I set aside and start decluttering 💕 Thanks and please share more easy makeup tutorials- Just love you have a simple but classy look, don’t always want to see latest release but use what we have in fresh and different ways❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yesssss!!!! I looove RUclips and beauty vids but what I hate is that I constantly am looking for my good products. I like trying new things, but I think that I've enjoyed trying new things so much because I haven't found my favorites. This video speaks to my soul! My goal this year is to really nail down my go-to makeup routine.
I love your approach to Minimalist makeup - definitely doable. I've been concentrating on finding the least amount of products that I can use for my entire face, perfect for everyday and travel! Thanks Shelbey.
I bought a 4-in-1 Transforming Super Shadow and Liner brush.on the one end, the brush can be set to smudge, crease and all over level. On the other, it’s for the liner! Cool! Thank you for sharing super makeup tips!
What I’d like is a signature day casual look and when I have loads of products I reach for this look or that look which takes so much longer. I thought I was looking for what I liked best but from one morning to the next I couldn’t remember every detail and started on sub-category B. Omg I’m sick of it. I want to simplify! I’m definitely going to banish the realm! Thank you. Too much just isn’t fun anymore.
Loved this video I’m all about saving room, I would love to have a huge makeup, skincare collection which will never happen, lol but anyway I’m always looking for easier and quicker ways to get ready in the morning before work and I think I can use some of your tips!!❤️
Hello pretty girl! What eye shadow do you have on this video please? This look, looks beautiful on you! Thank you for your time! Much love from Kentucky.
one of my new years’ resolutions is to downsize my makeup collection and transition to a minimal collection, so this video came at the right time! thank you so much ☺️
What I did to decrease the amount of base products I had was actually get a full coverage foundation that I can sheer down whenever I need to. I even use it as concealer since I don't really like my undereye to be lighter than the rest of my face.
My boyfriend and I both study and live in different cities (only a couple hours apart by train), thus I noticed that I mostly use my travel friendly makeup products! This is such a great video, so refreshing!
Thanks so much for this video. I'm not an everyday make-up person. I go out maybe twice a week. Brig disabled makes it hard, but I do like a simple routine. You've definitely given some great ideas!
I have started condensing down a lot of my eyeshadow palettes. There is just no use for them all. I don't really get the opportunity to wear a lot of makeup. I am also loving the more natural look these days. Thank you for all of your recommendations. I have gotten so much inspiration from your channel xo
I'm so happy to have come across your channel again! I have followed you years back and somehow I couldn't find you, but then RUclips recommended you and now i'm here haha. You have made me view makeup differently and I thank you for that. Makeup is a tool to be used, not to collect and I'm not sure how I got to the part having so much because I rarely use any makeup.
Yes absolutely I have tons of makeup I mean it's wonderfuland I love it all but I do lately have been trying to create a minimalist makeup bag that I can just grab or just go to on my days I'm in a time crunch
I have combination/oily skin and have found that primers make my oil worse. My base products hold quite well with proper moisturizer and light powder. Also, I layer products for a more full coverage look: tinted bb cream followed by a tinted mineral setting powdergive me a nice medium coverage. I can use them alone or together. Great video!
Enjoyed this video. Very enlightening for an older women trying to get my overwhelming products whittled down. Traveling can be a nightmare when deciding what to take. But minimizing overall for everyday will make this a streamline process now.. Thanks
I'm trying to remember that the word "minimalist" is relative and doesn't denote a set number of products you must own. My goal is to curate a makeup collection that contains the right number of products for me, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how much makeup that actually is. I've never owned loads of makeup or been a maximalist by anyone's definition. But over the past few years, my collection has slowly grown to the point where it's beginning to overwhelm me, even though it's still modest. Part of me enjoys some variety, but another part also craves simplicity and fewer options. If a person can be just as happy with less, why not have less?
Love love love! Thank you for this! Finally someone who isn’t pushing every product under the sun! I appreciate the approach and tips. So practical for everyday. Thank you ♥️
I love that makeup bag that you have your stick shadows in. I've been searching for a clear bag and just can''t find one. Where did you get it? I so wish you could do my makeup. You always look fantastic!
Thank you, Shelbey! I’ve realized that I only use about 5% of the makeup I own. 😲 Not good! I want to downsize and this video is just in time. As always, you’re amazing! 💗💗
At first I really hated that mac concealer pot and was ready to throw it out cause it really didn't work for me but after seeing you rave about it in like every video I gave it another chance, using it on top of the mac face and body and it gave me that perfect healthy look and now it's my favorite! But I wish it came in a different shade cause it's a bit too light and the darker shade is way too dark
I picked up the caviar sticks holiday set last month and love how little room they take up. I do have a question on continued use of them - would using cream stick shadows over time create crepe-y saggy lids? Maybe I’m still learning to blend them, but I feel like I’m blending and tugging much harder with the caviar sticks than I do with powder shadows.
Yes to you trying Trinnys stacks. I have been super intrigued by her products and I would love to hear your thoughts on the brand.😃 I'm now a cream product fan, mainly due to you and the fact that I'm now 46 and my "face"is changing slightly.
Another insightful video, thank you! 💕 I love your approach to make up. I have learned a lot from you...Watching your videos helped me curate what products work for me. The tips/recommendations that you share are meant to help the viewers/consumers buy wisely and be practical. You are teaching us smart ways on what make up to use and how. Most of us viewers are consumers who can’t afford to get all the latest releases in make up. Please know that your channel is very special and unique. It’s like it’s tailored for the everyday woman who has very little or no time to do elaborate/instagram make up (not that , that’s wrong). Will always be one of your loyal subs. Looking forward for more upcoming vids... 💕🙌
Love this video! I am 57 and am minimizing my makeup, basically to what this video is about. I use a CC cream which is buildable, a liquid concealer, 4 cream eye sticks, a few sheer lip colors and OMG I bought the Daniel Sandler Watercolor Blush Kit the BEST blush I have ever used- it looks so natural and worth the $! Also a brow kit and a pressed powder that I use for setting my concealer and when I just go “natural” with my eyes- just on my lids. I literally have a useless makeup case because of minimizing my “war paint”- I just throw my make up in a clear quart sized travel bag and still have room for my skin care products when traveling!
Honesty I’m glad to see this as I thought I was the only one. I see so many others out there having so much of the same product. like 10 mascaras!! 10 foundations!! I’m glad I never did this and I have only one foundation that does it all. One mascara, one eyeshadow palette, 5 lipsticks, and like two brushes and a beauty blender. Less is more!!!
I actually fantasize about having a small collection like that, where I'm able to get use out of all or most of the products I own on a daily basis. Yeah, so one item in each category, and maybe a few extra lipsticks ;) Maybe one day. Ironically, the sad thing is the beauty community has made me value makeup LESS because I see it as more disposable now. The encouragement of rampant consumerism and overall excess of the beauty world is one of my least favorite things about it.
I started mixing my Revlon photo ready candid foundation with moisturizer to make it sheerer. Also I method to use to have a more versatile foundation.
Shelbey you make everything so easy to follow. You are definitely inspiring me to buy and try stick and cream products. If you had to get any four caviar sticks from Laura Mercier which four? I have hazel eyes that are not hooded, and brown hair if that matters at all. Would love some recommendations 😊😉. Thanks so much. Really enjoyed this. Plus already got two of your brush recommendations!!!
I linked a set that's $35 for 4 shades in the info box - the shades it includes are nice! My 4 picks would be Cocoa + Metallic Taupe and Plum + Amethyst (or Intense Amethyst) If you're not into shimmer then Cocoa + Au Naturale and Plum + Fog
Great video! I really struggle with the amount of makeup brushes I have. Once I week I say well today I am going to Marie condo my brush collection. And nothing ever changes. I can’t seem to do it. I did get two of the RT setting brushes and I love them! Use them everyday.
Just to add to your thoughts on primer, if I’m remembering right, it seems like primer really was only created years ago for texture, enlarged pores, oily skin, etc. I feel like brands kind of jumped on primers for dry skin just to have another product to sell 🤷♀️
I'm surprised you didn't mention Bobbie Brown that much. That line was an innovator of the stick foundation, and blush/lip color sticks as well as their eyeshadow sticks. Great review.
Awesome video as always! I know this isn't super related, but I would love to see you do a review of Beauty Pie, and more specifically their cream eyeshadow sticks! They seem like the sort of brand you would like, and I know you're always looking for more affordable caviar stick dupes, so I would be interested in seeing your opinions on them!
Hey Shelbey! I love this YT and want to simplify my makeup game. What light coverage base (and primer) do you recommend for us oily girls? I work long hours with no breaks and don't want to look like the Exxon Valdez at the end of the day. Thanks for such great content!
Do you find that the fenty contour stix break you out? I didnt enjoy the foundation for that reason but I would love to try those! I checked the ingredients and they were v different but did contain a wax of some sort... thanks for your awesome content:)
It doesn’t matter how much makeup I purchase, I always gravitate to the same things. My only variances are foundation and that changes between spring/summer and fall/winter. That’s it! Everything else is the same ALL year.
thx for that video!! i have to pack my bags in a month and i'll be gone for 5 weeks or more, so its really hard to pack - and not too much!! so i ordered tatis new blendiful to reduce the amount of brushes. will you make a review of that tool?? greets from germany!
You should really review the tati blendiful. When it came out i thought of you for some reason. It seems to me that it might be something you might like. Im really thinking about getting it.
Hey Shelley, love your videos so much. Totally bought the RT brush because of you. Best thing I ever bought. Wondering if you've tried the new burt's bees goodness glows tinted moisturizer yet.
I ve seen your wear some sheer and natural lip looks a few times, is that one particular brand or line of lippies? Its so helpful to see a list of your look in the description on every video and much appreciated :)
Great video. I've been getting rid of pretty much all don't wear on my make up collection. I have a good foundation, a good and easy to apply concealer, a basic eyeshadow trio (got rid of palettes), one blush and a nice mascara. I rather invest in skincare and tinted sunscreen, and I have one red lipstick. If I apply sunscreen under my foundation no primer is needed. What else do you need really?
Listening to you these last few months had me re-evaluating my makeup. Your videos and many stick products stomp on the notion that makeup is a delivery form of pigment. It all led me to RCMA, which makes highly concentrated foundations and blushes. I've tried and now ordered the foundation; I'm waiting for their blush palette. Powdered blush on my older, drier skin just seems to sit on top. We'll see how this goes. If you try it, you have to break down the pigment before application (much like you do with the Daniel Sandler blushes), and it really must be set. Oddly, their no color powder seems to melt into the foundation and skin and sets imperceptibly -- I think. One irony and maybe good thing about aging is that you do look different -- but your close-up vision is so awful that you can't see it, LOL! Thank you, as ever, for the advice!
You have taught me to buy quality rather than quantity. I’m now investing in makeup rather than buying every new thing that comes out. The brush tips are fantastic. THANKYOU from Australia 🇦🇺
Amazing!!! Also sending love!

Aw - thanks so much for taking the time to comment! That means a lot! I'm glad you enjoy the videos! xo
My entire makeup routine has changed thanks to your wonderful detailed explanations and techniques. I love your videos!
So glad to see this!! xo
Yessss! I have learned less is always more. RUclips made me buy sooo many things and spend so much money on it. I thought I would need all of this, but I'm happier with good basic products. It's like breathing

Yesss👐
your fingers are very sanitary, you just wash them before touching your products
I actually find fingers and hands much more sanitary than brushes (although I love brushes). We can just wash our hands quickly before makeup while brushes.. I don’t wash them after every single time I use them and I bet most people don’t too.
Yep,same
I own a fluffy brush which I almost never use and is usually missing😂😂
That Fenty Concealer actually makes an AMAZING foundation when sheered our over the face! Try it!
That's how I use it :)
I prefer it over there actual foundation, I have a perfect shade match in it too!
I have a “minimal makeup collection”..... because I’m poor. 😅
ikr my clothing stole is: broke
makeup collection: broke
diet: broke
house design: broke
i’m one of the more impressive minimalists and dieters😂😂
Just so mascara .... and u will be ok
Patricia Vandevelde yaas can’t live without mascara!
Mascara mascara.....
Same my makeup collection was minimal for 10 years until I finnalt made dollar.
The best recommendation I got from youtube in 2019 is Real Techniques Setting Brush. $3 in target. Lipstick as blush is a game changer for me in making my collection smaller and better quality.
Wow the setting brush is at least 10-14€ here in Europe, even when bought in a set. It’s quite outrageous in my opinion ☹️
I dunno, brushes are easy to wash while travelling and dry faster than the blendiful would
le lo tati said it dries in less than a minute
me too, tati blendiful can do a lot. im going to ask my dad if i can get it.
I just want to thank you for single handedly being my inspiration for getting into makeup due to your talent and minimalist natural approach!
Great tips and excellent makeup philosophy. Thanks Shelbey. You are totally smashing it with your content xx
It’s like you were reading my mind. I am in the process of simplifying everything in my life, including makeup. And it’s not an easy journey because I have been a cosmetics junkie for decades. Love this content, Shelby. You inspire me in every video.

🥰LOVE- Sooooo helpful! How did I miss this 2 years ago when I needed it so badly! Off to declutter and minimize my makeup life!
you consistently have some of the best makeup content on youtube, and I’ve been around since the OG Michele phan days.
I‘m so happy I bought the real techniques brush you first showed! 😍 I really love their brushes in general
I love all makeup but am never the type to switch up my actual routine. I like what I like and what works for me. I wear the same makeup every single day. My two fav brushes that I use every time I am doing my makeup, is the RT setting brush, blush brush, and a 217 look alike. 😆
shelbey pixi came out with eyeshadow sticks as well and i think you may like kiko milano eyw shadow sticks
I legit use bite lipstick for eyes, lips and cheeks... Constantly. Chai is my fav and you best believe it goes everywhere.
Your makeup style is by far my favorite
Wow! A great minimum list for travel as well as a simpler daily makeup routine.

11:16 yes those gently beauty sticks are AMAZING. I use the rum shade I love it.
I love the lipstick you are wearing! Which brand/ colour is it?
Thank you, Shelbey! I’ve realized that I only use about 5% of the makeup I own. 😲 Not good! I want to downsize and this video is just in time. As always, you’re amazing! 💗💗
Glad to help!!! :)
YES on trinny London I’ve been so curious about that brand bc Harry Makes it Up loves the eyeshadows.
I purchased the Real Techniques Setting Brush upon your recommendation and I love it! 😊
Great video!
I love those real techniques brushes too! Saw u use them a while back and ran out to get them - especially love it for blush!
At first I really hated that mac concealer pot and was ready to throw it out cause it really didn't work for me but after seeing you rave about it in like every video I gave it another chance, using it on top of the mac face and body and it gave me that perfect healthy look and now it's my favorite! You can create a concealer duo on MAC's website with two shades and mix them!

Today I got my hands on 2 Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop eyeshadow sticks, they now don’t carry it on the Sephora site, I’m excited to try them out 🤗
I love Trinny London. I am a cream shadow girl and her products are great!
Thank you!!! 😘💓
Great video! I really struggle with the amount of makeup brushes I have. Once I week I say well today I am going to Marie condo my brush collection. And nothing ever changes. I can’t seem to do it. I did get two of the RT setting brushes and I love them! Use them everyday.
Shelbey, Great video! Would love to see your collection for shadow sticks. Thanks again for your contents!
Obsessed and binging on all your vids last 2 days ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just to add to your thoughts on primer, if I’m remembering right, it seems like primer really was only created years ago for texture, enlarged pores, oily skin, etc. I feel like brands kind of jumped on primers for dry skin just to have another product to sell 🤷♀️
YEP!!!! 100%
Yes, completely agree!!!
Yes - less is more! Love your videos - I'm hooked on the Neutrogena Hydro Boost tint.
LOL... I just love you so much! I need your humor in my life please thank you so much 😘❤️
I'm surprised you didn't mention Bobbie Brown that much. That line was an innovator of the stick foundation, and blush/lip color sticks as well as their eyeshadow sticks. Great review.
My first stick foundation was the Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation! However, I just haven’t dove into BB in a while.
Love this video. Just trying to organize all my makeup. What are you wearing on your eyes, beautiful ❤️
Ulta cream shadow in game over - saw her reply to another comment
Awesome video as always! I know this isn't super related, but I would love to see you do a review of Beauty Pie, and more specifically their cream eyeshadow sticks! They seem like the sort of brand you would like, and I know you're always looking for more affordable caviar stick dupes, so I would be interested in seeing your opinions on them!
I have two of the RT setting brushes. One for setting under eyes and nose and the other for highlighter.
I’d love to know where that makeup bag is from, it looks so cute and exactly what I’ve been looking for
Great video Shelby, always enjoy watching your content! I totally agree with the Real Techniques setting brush, it completely changed my makeup game!
I love the whole idea behind this. Thank you for sharing!
Oh gosh you're from Nashville! I should have guessed from the dialect lol. It's a pretty decent city to live in. :)
Hey Shelbey! I love this YT and want to simplify my makeup game. What light coverage base (and primer) do you recommend for us oily girls? I work long hours with no breaks and don't want to look like the Exxon Valdez at the end of the day. Thanks for such great content!
Please update on the em cosmetics brow gel! I love boy brow but blonde is a little too warm for me, and I’m really interested in the smaller brush!
I love this video because I am always looking to minimize my routine for travel reasons.
What lip and eye are you wearing in this vid, its gorgeous?
Do you find that the fenty contour stix break you out? I didnt enjoy the foundation for that reason but I would love to try those! I checked the ingredients and they were v different but did contain a wax of some sort... thanks for your awesome content:)
That eyeshadow you demonstrated, the grey with the grey (and black?) liner was beautiful! Do you do a full demo somewhere?
It doesn’t matter how much makeup I purchase, I always gravitate to the same things. My only variances are foundation and that changes between spring/summer and fall/winter. That’s it! Everything else is the same ALL year.
thx for that video!!
i have to pack my bags in a month and i'll be gone for 5 weeks or more, so its really hard to pack - and not too much!!
so i ordered tatis new blendiful to reduce the amount of brushes. will you make a review of that tool??
greets from germany!
Your content just keeps getting better! 2020 is going to be a good year for you!
Which shadow sticks are you wearing in this video? Love the look!
I'm always trying to minimize my makeup collection so thanks for the ideas!
You are brilliant!
Great video! What are you wearing on your eyes in this video? I love how fresh it looks.
Loved this video. It was just what I was looking for. Perfect for starting fresh in January.
Your makeup is soooo pretty🤩😍
I have those two first brushes!!! I use them for highlighter and powder though!😁
