- @metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career. The band's fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding "big four" bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Metallica's current lineup comprises founding members and primary songwriters Hetfield and Ulrich, longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo. Guitarist Dave Mustaine (who formed Megadeth after being fired from the band) and bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted are former members of the band.

Thinking about how long they have been doing this, this is simply just remarkable. Absolutely love it. I remember being a young teenager, listening to them on a cassette in a boombox, sitting with my best friend and trying to figure out the riffs on a guitar. No RUclips, no guitar teacher, just sitting and trying to replicate James and Kirk and being confused, dumbfounded and inspired.
I'm pumped about this album so far. I know a lot of people hate these new songs and that's fine. To each their own. I'll enjoy it

Tell me what you want, but when James comes up with a riff, is always something legendary that sticks to your ears, no matter how intricated or simple. Combined with his voice is what keeps Metallica alive owning charts, stadiums, sales and world media. MetalGod!!

I'm glad to see positive reactions. Some fans think it's thrash or it's trash and that's not true. Good sound and writing can come in many different forms. I'm stoked for this album.
a lot of ppl complain that they needed to cut some of the repetitive parts but i still think its leagues better than the other two they released

Liked and subbed, very insightful analysis. I think this song feels like a fusion of Industrial and Thrash metal. It's my favorite of the 3 singles so far. Can't wait to see them live in August!

Sorry to interrupt your delusions but the song is preety shitty objectively, and lacks the qualities of a good metal song. It is how it is tbh, your favourite band can write a bad song, you do not have to praise everything they do. The song has literally nothing interesting to offer and it's sad but true. I feel like some people actually force themselves to liking it.

Good to see people who understand MetallicA & the fact they're gonna do what they want; nor do they care what the haters and new "fans" think. I'm not a fan. I like James Hetfield's voice, his story as I relate to it, and his music. James is MetallicA. They didn't have a song until hardwired I didn't like, not a one

This song sounds alot like the song "Confusion" from their last album Hardwired... Something about it reminds me of late 80- early 90's Slayer. Something about the main riff

It sounds really good; the three done songs have good sound, and riffs. Remember Kirk lose thousand of riffs before Hardwire came out and if he had them now we maybe have a different new album

If there a any doubts about Metallica. Ok listen their older as your Parents... So , f*** off ...and shut up. Go and play Seattle 89 blackened and you'll will get a relegious experience.
This song is really solid and Metallica doing what they do best. Lars mixing it up really helps keep the mid tempo interesting too. James and Rob are top notch as usual, and the vocals fit the music perfectly.
As for the solo, Kirk plays cool licks but Bob Rock helped him arrange/construct solos for years. The studio clips show that. Without a maestro Kirk kind of strings together random licks every so many bars. It’s alright but could’ve made the song even better with something more crafted like Fuel.
All in all though they’ve written a memorable, grooving song here and I’m happy to see them still doing their thing and doing it well. Cheers.
They should've changed the lyrics from temptation to repetitions. Album name from 72 Seasons to 72 Repetitions.
I think so far the songs have been ok, but just that. I'm sure they can do better, age is not a factor because if you look to the other bands from the same era, they're doing some interesting and solid works. I'm going to get some much hate for this but i think Megadeth's new album is more solid

Like the song even though it's the same replicated chug riff that has been used but is definitely not classic Metallica they were a thrash band and get tired of hearing well they are older testament are around the same age their latest album is in your face thrash same as Overkill Exodus etc but is a damn catchy song that will be played on the radio would just love to be able to know what the Ride the lightning age Metallica would say about this song if they heard it then🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Song needed to be edited to short intro riff, transition to temptation riff to be the main riff, and a small transition bridge to chorus riff, fade with chorus riff without lyrics and then the song would be killer

It's a good song. Oh.. its Basic. But if you do Basic better than anyone? It's ehh Metallica.. well...yeah It's Metallica.. why should they be different? You guys do a good review.
Not only does Metallica have to compete with their own legacy with each and every release but they are held to such a ridiculous standard.
Loved Lux Aeterna but was not a fan of Screaming Suicide, but absolutely loved this one.
One of the complaints is it's too long and repetitive. Holy f*** imagine if AJFA was released now the crap that would get thrown at them lol They simply cannot win with some people.
Now, that being said, I'm still not being blown away by Kirk's solo's. It's not that I'm asking for 80's Kirk, 90's Kirk. Heck, even Death Magnetic Kirk was badass. But since Hardwired and so far what i've heard from this album I'm still waiting for Kirk to deliver. There were bits and pieces from this solo that were good, especially near the end, but overall the bendy, sustained wah-notes are becoming too repetitive in all his solos now.
Hopefully we get one more single release before the album drops but if not then just gonna have to wait for 4/12

Nothing wrong with the new Metallica. Not their best, not their worst. It's just music.
As a lifetime Metallica fan, I am grateful for new music though I do feel it's a couple degrees better than Load. The singles they have released so far has all the Metallica bare bones, missing the great interludes, transitions, unforgettable solos and outros. It's almost like they got one or two riffs and put them in a loop and duck taped it together with an improvised solo. Still I will listen to this album more than I would listen to Load.

However anyone that feels this is a great song, I challenge them to revisit it 1year, 2years, 3 years from now and see how many times you have listened to this song compared to the rest of Metallica's song catalog. By the way I like this song, just stating facts.

look, Metallica put thrash on the map, abd rhe created the greatest thrash albums ever made... and then they evolved psdt that and went on to make spectacular music by ina variety of metal/rock styles, and thats why they're the greatest of all time

I don't get how anybody with working ears can LOVE these songs..when i'm listening to them I feel let down honestly.. Nothing about them is even close to what they did on Hardwired even..
So far this new album is gonna make Hardwired look 10x better (I like a lot of Hardwired)
Kirk should just leave the band or start doing ANYTHING remotely considered listenable..anybody who has ever touched a guitar or knows anything about music should realize how insanely dumb his solos are, he keeps using the same scale, same notes, same licks, same everything.. it has no structure or should I say, very random structure with no real meaning...
James' voice is good and I love him for still putting in the effort (His lyrics though...very amateur and cringe worthy. The theme of the lyrics is great, but the writing is not.)
Only good things remaining in this band are Rob's bass and James' voice..
Only good signs from these songs are that James is showing that he still has some vocal creativity and I hope for a better future for them
And beware, this is coming from a lifelong Metallica ultra fan..
(I will say though that this is the best out of the 3 released so far)
It's boring, 2 minutes longer than needed
This 🎉song was the laziest written song they have ever done. The Rhythm is taken from parts of earlier songs. The lead is a part of song from the last album. There are no real verses in the entire song. It’s all bridge style and chorus, then it repeats over and over and over. Extremely boring poor written song. I’m sick of people kissing their ass just because they are a legendary band. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love these guys but this is bad. I have a signed friend that met James back stage with other artist. He was joking that they could crap in a box and it would go platinum. C’mon guys try a little bit. I blame the people that surround them that didn’t be completely honest with them. You guys need to open your ears. This entire song was just previously regurgitated partial riffs.

Right away those drums gave me St. Anger vibes. It's not a good song IMO. Please just admit that. It's lazy writing at its purest. James rhymed fire with desire 😂 The drums are so basic and boring. The guitar riff is so repetitive and useless. The only part worth listening to is the end riff. Metallica is DONE. Stop lying to yourselves y'all. Metallica has not evolved at all. Again, my opinion and I'm sure this is sacrilegious in all but I loved them up until now. The amount of money they charge their "fans" to see them live is absolutely ridiculous.

This song definitely has the worst solo I have ever heard Kirk play. This song drags on for way too long and is super repetitive. Only cool part was the riff before the solo. Best thing about this song is James's vocals which I honestly love. Rest of the song just falls flat to me.
