I have just recently found out about you and your videos. Honestly, I was quite shocked on how well, nice and on the end honestly have desribed Croatia and Croats. I was really happy to hear your opinion. My first few videos I have watched from you were related mostly for Dalmatia (which is great) but I did slightly resent you didn't spoke about inner Croatia but now, I am quite pleased you have also decided to give some time to inner Croatia (yes, I am from inner Croatia). Great work and videos, hope you continue having good life here with us, it is hard, but it is worthy at the end 🎉😊

I'm glad you included my hometown Osijek 9:11. I posted recently a video on my channel of a walking tour in Osijek. I wanted to say that this part of Croatia is unfairly neglected when it comes to tourism since mostly all we see online are videos of our coast, islands (which is all very beautiful, no doubt whatsoever about it), but I think this area has much potential to attract more tourists. Greetings!
Thanks, Paul for making a video about the beauty of Slavonia, and including my home town of Slavonski Brod. Much love and respect to you from Hamilton, Ontario.
Hi Paul, I lived in Strizivojna from when I was born, for 26 years, before I move to Zagreb (p.s. I accidently find this video :) ).. so just to assure you about that story, there is no museum build because that story. We local people (I'm sure not all lol) herd about that story, but there's just not museum for that there :) In a twin village Vrpolje, just next to Stizivojna, there's a museum Ivan Meštrović, one of the famous sculptor in Croatia

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that you mentioned Bucijada 😄. When the event first started a while back, I wasn't too optimistic that it would gain much attention, but over the years, it has become a really big event. In the past couple of years, a lot of tourists have been visiting, and I am sure that after watching your video, a few more might plan a visit. Anyways, I loved your video and content! It's always great to see what non-Croats living in our country think about us and our beautiful land, even though you have been here for so long, we could say that you are one of us now 😄. If you ever plan on visiting Bucijada (again?), let me know and I'm buying you a pumpkin beer 😉.
Nice to see videos like these. It is understandable you don't have the time to explore every single bit and put it in a video so I hope you don't mind a few things that came to my mind which are not included. 1st - The roads are made out of wine - Continental Croatia has events called "Wine roads" when multiple wineries open their doors or organise events for visitors. Sleeping outdoors is not unheard of. 2nd - Tread the path of Suleyman - In the place of called Kopačevo, the entrance to Kopački rit nature preserve, there is a small replica of a bridge Sultan Suleyman made to cross over the swamps and surprise Hungarian defenders. Kopački rit is also one of the biggest hotspots for bird watching in Europe. 3rd - Little Vienna - There are quite a few towns in the continent clinging to the name Little Vienna due to their secessionist architecture inspired by Vienna some of them being Varaždin and Osijek. 4th - The Franken castle - Castle Prandau Normann in Valpovo has a rarely seen blend of architecture, because the owners probably were to lazy to tear down the old parts of the castle they just built the new next to the old. So one part of the castle contains a 14th century feudal tower and walls connecting to renesanse structure and walls leading to a baroque palace. 5th - Unhealthy tourism - If you like biking you can bike all the way from Varaždin to Erdut (border with Serbia) with some of the trails going trough nature park Mura-Drava where you can see eagles, hawks, deer ... and enjoy the local cuisine and bring back all the calories you have burnt. 6th - The getaway of a rich nobleman - Forest park Jankovac hidden in the only high ground in Slavonia, area called Papuk, was the summer getaway of an earl. Since slavonians are basically accustomed to lowlands and flatlands the Forest park Jankovac is one of the most untouched forest regions in Croatia. 7th - Croats still like going medieval - Jankovac, Orahovica and Ivanovac organise medieval fairs where visitors can shoot bows, eat thematic cuisine and watch as knights fight the Ottomans. 8th - Croats turned dining into a treasure hunt - Every major city has restaurants that are easily accessible but the best ones, ones that make traditional delicacies using local seasonal groceries, are out in the rural areas. Take restaurants Kormoran and Josić for example, to get to them you will pass through one of the most rural areas of continental Croatia.
Thanks very much for this, some very interesting stuff I did not know - will research and investigate. Agree with you on the wine - there are lots more videos coming if you want to subscribe - here is one we did on Ilocki Podrumi - ruclips.net/video/NhFvlJ1Jm98/видео.html

Chapeau! P.S. Nadam se da razumiješ Hrvatski, lol 🙂
@@PaulBradbury agree. every once in a while I take a train trip from Zabok (Croatian Zagorje) to Varazdin to visit my uncle...it's a great scenic hour and a half long ride and track is actually in pretty good condition...I ride 80 km/h most of the times.
I've spent 8 years in Croatian Elementry school and 4 years in Croatian high school and I've learned more about Croatia now in American College and through videos like this. Sad. P.s. Did you maybe think about making a "visit map" from Vinkovci to Dubrovnik route and places to stop. (I know it's sad that as a Croatian I need to ask a non-Croatian to potentially do it)
Nemojte nikada doći u Slavoniji npr. park prirode Jankovac nad Velikom ( Požega) jer kad vidite koliko je lijepo pitat ćete se zašto trošiti puno novaca kada za jako malo možete doživjeti " mikro Plitvice" u Slavoniji. Isto vrijedi za Kopački rit u Barnji , Park prirode Lonjsko polje itd itd...
@@PaulBradbury Benny Hill was not funny indeed. My all time favourites were/are: 1. Pythons (watched absolutely everything numerous times) 2. Only Fools and Horses 3. Ricky Gervais Extras (his stand up is great too )
Thanks, cool representation of what Slavonia and Podravina area have to offer along with its rich and long recorded history. Krapina is north of Zagreb though, not west, and both Krapina and Trakoscan are in Zagorje, so area around capital Zagreb to its north, and generaly that norther part of Croatia like Varaždin you mentioned, that I hope you cover in one of your next videos. Seems like, or I probably get the wrong feeling that you don't find my hometown Zagreb interesting since it is a capital, as it is an urban centre of the country, so not that many weird rural folk stuff to cover, hehe, just joking. Zagreb has a rich and interesting history, and was always acting as sort of one of the important centers of western world frontier bulwark against outside threats from eastern and southeastern invaders, like when Mongols invaded, burning it surroundings and laying siege to Kaptol and Gradec in 13th century, etc, or the fact Zagreb being 3 centuries or more long frontier capital to protect from Ottoman invasions deeper or further into mainland central Europe, and as a place for refuge for rest of conquered parts of Croatia areas through its history... Anyway, thanks for your work good sir, cheers.

Haha, the person who manages to please everyone in this region will be a genius indeed. Have a big vid on Croatia and the Balkans looking at the various claims coming soon.
haha, thanks, but it has nothing to do with me. Not sure we need HTZ at all. My vote is to make Nikola Tesla Minister of Tourism - he wouldn't take a salary, there would be the same number of tourists, and at least he would be a brand.
Good thing I came across this so I know to avoid. I don't even have to see the video, with so many reasons to stay away I just know not to bother when so many other places get fine recommendations.
Paul, have you ever noticed in Zagreb that the culture seems to be dominated by women? I went to downtown Zagreb for the first time today and I felt like I was in the twilight zone. The men were dressed down in sweatpants and very docile and the women were dressed up in business attire and walked faster than the men. The masculine energy of the women here is something I’ve never seen before. In America the men are the ones dressing up, playing the masculine role. In Zagreb it’s the total opposite. What’s up with that?
Zagreb ladies are very stylish and confident. As i am officially the worst dressed person in Croatia, I look to the guys for style tips. They seem ok to me.
Yes but that was on the coast in Rijeka - lots more coming on inventions if you want to subscribe - there is a taster - www.total-croatia.com/croatian-inventions
Treba imati malo više vijuga u mozgu, da bi skužio da čovjek ustvari hvali kontinentalnu hrvatsku i u svojim spotovima je učinio više za Hr, nego svi uhljebi iz TZH ikada.
Now that workers are coming from Nepal, Bangladesh..., maybe it's time to import "women workers" from Thailand, Vietnam... I think they would improve tourism, and local men wouldn't mind? One "worker" would have more visits than Vučedol and Ilok combined.
That Neanderthal museum is located in Krapina, Krapina-Zagorje county. It's the only town in the world where you can see the Neanderthals standing in the museum and walking down the street.

Born and raised in Zagreb, I have never heard of the crap in a jug joke before. I though you were going to say something like the English call Krapina "shitty innit" but this was even better. Thank you for the good laugh, kind words, and a new joke I can tell my mates. Cheers!
Hello! Like your video! And what do you in Croatia? What’s is your job?
Yes, in Zagreb. Lots more coming if you want to subscribe. I run Total Croatia News
Let me throw this in Paul: I visited Djakovo in ‘19 and the cathedral and museum were closed from noon to three. Go figure! Ajme!
Haha. I have no idea what the opening times are - it has always been open when I have visited.
😂 Ajme killed me.
Krapina jug = "Crap in a jug"
Dude, I almost fell off my chair laughing like crazy 😂
haha, glad you enjoyed
We just got back from Croatia. We loved:Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar, Plitvice Lakes, Rovinj and Pula. But Rovinj......OMG, Rovinj.....that was as close to perfection as anywhere I have ever been; it was like walking around in a piece of art.
That sounds like quite a trip
Amazing video. Hi from Osijek, Croatia
Thanks! Lots more coming if you want to subscribe.
You should make a video about lifejacket from the Titanic that is in museum in the city of Rijeka
Will get to at some point but there are so many things to do.
You rock dude cheers from Australia
Osijek have just a church, cathedral is 38 km south, in Đakovo.
I really do not know if anyone else spoted but at the end (maybe even before and I did not notice) he just said and i quote "We have this wonderful story about" ... from that you can really tell that he really is one of us no mather what he or anyone else thinks ... Now, now...
Hey Paul!
P.S. Nadam se da razumiješ Hrvatski, lol 🙂

I was born in Varaždin thanks for including it :)
It is a great place. I lived there for 5 years.
@@PaulBradbury agree. every once in a while I take a train trip from Zabok (Croatian Zagorje) to Varazdin to visit my uncle...it's a great scenic hour and a half long ride and track is actually in pretty good condition...I ride 80 km/h most of the times.
No chatedral in Osijek , its in Đakovo.
I've spent 8 years in Croatian Elementry school and 4 years in Croatian high school and I've learned more about Croatia now in American College and through videos like this. Sad.
P.s. Did you maybe think about making a "visit map" from Vinkovci to Dubrovnik route and places to stop. (I know it's sad that as a Croatian I need to ask a non-Croatian to potentially do it)
No but we have lots more destination vids coming if you want to subscribe

Thank you Paul
You are welcome. Re HTZ, I couldn't possibly comment.
Nemojte nikada doći u Slavoniji npr. park prirode Jankovac nad Velikom ( Požega) jer kad vidite koliko je lijepo pitat ćete se zašto trošiti puno novaca kada za jako malo možete doživjeti " mikro Plitvice" u Slavoniji.
Isto vrijedi za Kopački rit u Barnji , Park prirode Lonjsko polje itd itd...
haha true story
thanks paul.....british humor was always one of the best in the world! (benny hill, only fools and horses, monty python, etc)
haha, i never got why people here think benny hill was so funny - only fools and horses were the kings though

Cockfest!😂Yeap....Continental Croatia is great.I am from Kutina, region called Moslavina.
Haha, yes it is a great region, and I learn more with each visit. Love Moslavina. Viva Skrlet!
I am so happy you enjoy croatia ❤
It is a great place
Lots coming on Zagreb if you want to subscribe

I see you are promoting Purgers, and you are gossiping about Dalmatia - are you serious or zajebaješ?! Btw, who taught the purgers to read and write, if not us Dalmatians?! Bilo kako bilo, nema Splita do Splita..,
Tesla was from kingom of croatia slavonia and dalmatia not austrohungarian front. This is think some serbs try to push so they can say that there was no croatia back than. Type Nikola Tesla passport and you are going to came accros nikola teslas name under the coat of arms of croatian kingdom which used to be a state inside hasburg monarchy.
