      Hey! I'm 28 work in finance right now but want to pursue a creative career. I've always been bursting with ideas and love drawing, and Ive always been fascinated by animation. I stayed in my work for safety and comfort over COVID, but I think now it's time to get going on my passion and at least give it a go. I'm frightened because I already feel too old like I've missed the boat, but I know that just isn't true because I see your video and don't feel like for you. I'm feeling, go on girl you can do this you can do anything!!
      And therefore... So can I. So a bit of healing this year, gentle encouragement and positive thinking around my ability will guide me ❤️
      Thank you for sharing your vulnerability, subscribed xx

      @katethompson8182 Heya Kate! Thanks so much for sharing your story. I sense energy & excitement in your message. I hope to live until im 80 if lucky, that's 44 years away. I think about how much I've grown and learnt in the 35 years, so, 44 years is alot! So with that in mind, it's never too late to change. We have our transferable skills from old jobs. At least, this way, there's no 'what if's' and even if something doesn't work out it'll add to our experience ms and learnt from it! As long as it's not hurting others or a life/death situation, why not give it ago? But that's a question only you can decide! Thanks for being interested enough to subscribe, but what really gets me is hearing your story! Thanks so much for sharing and wish you all the best in the journey. Id love to hear how it goes 🫶

      @@SpottedJournal this is so true about how much time we actually truly have, and how really our lives have just begin a new chapter and this can happen whenever we are ready to!
      It's very encouraging to think this way I find.
      I was out for dinner with friend who is a writer but working in a job she doensnt tlike too, and I laughed and said 'this is but a smidge in time for us, we have so much life left to live. And if we keep that light burning we are certainly going in the right direction. We will look back in ten years and wonder what we were stressing about.'
      This is nice to connect to you, and thank you for taking the time to reply. Social media can ironically disconnect us with how triggering, shocking, fast paced it can be, but these are the moments that matter.
      Thank you for restoring my faith in the internet, and I'm excited to see how you progress :) ❤️ 🌹

    • @SpottedJournal
      @SpottedJournal  4 месяца назад +1

      "No idea what you're doing" and "terrified", that sounds about right, if it's any comfort at all, we all start the same. I realised maybe it's because the best way is our way, and we just don't know what that looks like yet which is pretty terrifying! Wish you all the best 🥳

    Such a lovely video Jenny, I love your editing style! It's a really interesting point about existing as a mother AND wanting/having a different title too - whether that's an artist or an author or otherwise. Motherhood is so all-encompassing but it's important to hone in on what you need too. I'm not there yet but I appreciate hearing your thoughts in this video! I'm excited to watch and follow along on your new chapter as you re-connect to who you are and your growth along the way ❤

      It's not easy! But it's one of the jobs I can think of swing whilst being a mum. How old are your little ones now? I have since got a part time job that doesn't dive too much into my creative well and helps with the bills. That way i still have creative energy and less pressure to make money outta my art as I need time to develop it! But everyone is different, if you can give it a go, why not? No regrets right!

    This was such a lovely video, I love the atmosphere and your honesty and I of course subscribed ❤ I just turned 37 and I’m a self taught illustrator. Around the time my son was born, I also had a couple of years in which I didn’t draw a lot. When I picked it back up, it felt so great to start again and I focused my attention on trying to become a picture book illustrator as well :) It happened (yay!) so definitely keep going on a pace that works for you. It will only get easier to have the needed time to yourself in my experience. I do work on my on pace, I don’t finish a book every 3 months, the delivery times in the picture book world can be crazy. I’m content if I can make a book every 1-2 years and just focus on passion projects and RUclips in between. I will check out your next video’s now ❤

    I've just started a youtube channel focused on art and i'm making time to improve my art skills. I have an 18-month-old and I'm also 32 weeks pregnant! Being a mother...can be all consuming. Children demand so much from us! I quit my full time job at the end of my maternity leave and only when my son was 14 months did i start working 2-3 days per week part time again elsewhere!
    I think its SOOO important to have time for yourself and your creativity, especially as a mum. Its so easy to lose yourself a bit when you have children! I go to a pottery studio 3 hours once a week and also devote nap times and evenings (when son is asleep) to getting better at art!
    Weirdly we have the same baby monitor! I'm also in the UK!
    Best of luck with your journey :) I've subbed!
