I was considering changing my Visible SIM card to a T-Mobile on our MOFI. To my surprise yesterday at the T-Mobile store they also said I had to get a data SIM card only. Which of course is more per month!!! We have our MOFI on our RV and only a few times per month. Now if we switch it will become more expensive. I guess we’ll stay with Visible for now.
So T mobile is now advertising internet service at 60$ a month I got a thing in mail a few days ago. Did you think about exploring that? If it works great if not use their sim for your mofi!!
The only way around NAT3 on any cellular network (especially AT&T) is to use a VPN. If you want use a VPN on your game console, you can set your VPN up within your router settings...assuming your router supports it. T-MOBILE has NAT type 2 so no worries there.
I dont recommend the AT&T plan anymore because they are using tactics that mess with your connection and force you to reboot your device at random. It's very annoying....you HAVE TO USE A VPN to get around it. For some people that is unusable
When I moved out to rural area 5 months ago. I had att phones. So I changed to the unlimited 100g plan. And added a bring your own tablet sim card that went into the mofi. This is the first month that I know they cut our speed. Only have a couple of days left before it should go back. But as luck would have it . It happened the evening I decided to up grade the mofi firmware and play around with external antennas. Ughh. I thought the firmware had hosed everything up. But then I realized the data was slow on my phones also. I tried a vpn trial and sure enough. Speed went up. So it was throttle. I had bought a verizon sim to try out. From cell mapper I see there is verizon tower closer than an att one. But now sounds like that wont work either. If I can get an over the air antenna to work . That should help with data because we are watching via fire. Always something. But great info gets generated here. Thank you

John, Hello sir. I looked all over for my previous comments and your replies, but cant locate what specific video it was from or the specific thread. My apologies! My son continues to work on his Mofi performance. He was taking your suggestion to dial in the parabolic antenna. He is about 6 miles from the only tower around his remote area in Wisconsin. His path to the tower is completely covered with trees and has an elevation difference of about 100 feet where is house is higher than the tower land elevation. He dialed in his antennas which appears to be at least 20 degrees off what he knows to be the tower line. His Current Numbers: 150+ Ping, 15mbps Download, and 0.5 Upload. QQ: Would you recommend tuning the Parabolic without the secondary antenna? Then add the secondary to improve on the parabolic performance?
I would recommend he has the parabolic slightly elevated or angled upward the hill see if that improves or has the thing raised as high as possible. Secondly, yes, a second antenna is always a better options to stabilize your signal. Is he using a gaming router or AC personal router that is Ethernet connected to the mofi? If not he’s losing mega mega speeds. Lastly, is he using a sim 4 combo or sim 7 combo mofi? A sim 7 doesn’t allow carrier aggregation or advanced band lock. If he could get CA he would enhance speeds by locking on multiple bands under the advanced band lock feature. Hope all this helps. The secondary antenna doesn’t have to necessary be a parabolic I’d say a Log periodic would work. Just make sure he gets an FME male connector to N Male to convert it
