MIKKO Lito It came from sports. Calf-high socks are popular with people who play sports and I guess the style just translated to casual life. I think it may have also been influenced by skate culture.
While I personally don't wear socks like that, has it ever occurred to you that someone should wear whatever the fuck they want?
The high socks with shorts is indicative of the skateboard culture in the United States. I'm from California, and it's common to see this fashion trend. Skateboard legend Tony Hawk wears high socks with shorts. He may have started the trend.

"If you are looking for a serious surf spot on Baja Sud check out Boca La Soledad, just North of Adolfo Lopez Mateos, just North of Magdalena Bay.
The bottom runs up from about 30 feet to about 10 feet over 1 mile, so you get really long gentle breaks, big enough to surf a 30 foot boat for 0.5 mile.
There is a break there because over the years so much sand has come down from inland there is a big semi circular plateau of sand off the inlet, the break is well offshore, something like 2 miles.
With a support boat this is no problem and there are plenty of them available as there is a lot of whale watching tourism is based at the local dock.
With your drone you could could go and scout out the break with a 2 mile flight before committing to renting a boat and running 8 miles out and 8 back, anyway there would be a story there for the telling."

Back in the late 80s and early 90s I was based at Adolfo Lopez Mateos whale watching for up to 7 weeks a year and taking the 5 metre RIB out to the break was the only entertainment in town.
