I was taught to let go of the bike so there is less chance of ending up as the filling in a bike/wall sandwich. You also stop faster if you aren't hanging onto a big lump of metal.

The amount of riders on big bikes that aren't experienced scares me. When I first started riding we used to stick an experienced guy at the front and one at the back. We would run as fast as we could on straight roads and someone would stop at junctions until the rear caught up so they knew which way to turn. I think this is common practice for riding groups in Britain but I might be wrong.
Here's your reminder to let go of the bike when you crash. It has a lot more momentum than you- if you're wearing leathers they are made to slow you down quickly on asphalt and reduce slide time. Let go of the damn bike.

I was riding from Jersey to California. The worst fear ever was when my headlight burned out on my new bike at night. I was on a black two-lane road in the country, with an 18-wheeler pushing me to go faster & within 10 feet of me, I couldn't see far enough ahead; I took a deep breath, & pulled off on the shoulder, just hoping there wasn't a road sign in my path.

I am 72 yrs been riding since 14 I have 3 Ducati Monsters and still ride a lot, you are right about young men buying fast machines that they don't have the experience to ride they are thinking with there genitals and not there brains, also I have friends that have raced super bikes and they have said that they would not have a super bike to just ride on the road, you cannot use the power of these machines and they are painful to ride any distance.
2:44 TURN!!! Listen everyone, I know you see videos of people low sideing but the BIKE WILL TURN, FAR MORE THAN MOST OF YOU EXPECT, EVEN IN RAIN!!! Just make sure you don't accelerate hard especially with a 4cylinder, but a V-twin usually will maintain traction due to 4 stroke engine with only 2 power stokes meaning its like ABS brake in reverse. And stay off the rear brake, that is a guaranteed low side, believe it or not most riders don't even realize they grazed that rear brake in a turn, especially focused on body position. Finally, you go where you look, so look where you wana go. Been riding sport since 1994, first bike 92' GSXR750

i am a car driver and 40years. i even was one of the "best" driverss by prove of performance. but riding a bike is so dangerous, that i am VERY VERY HAPPY to see this video. it really keeps people from driving these STUNTS.

I suspect that's probably true. He didn't like remotely bothered by me getting off the bike; he just went about his business.
I started on a 250 for 3 years, then a 500 for 5. Good increments for a new rider at the time.
I did 2 years on a 250 to 1 year on a 1200 (blew the engine) and currently 3 years on a 600.
I started on a 250. On a 650 now but I miss the hell out of my 250. So much more fun to ride.

I am 72 yrs been riding since 14 I have 3 Ducati Monsters and still ride a lot, you are right about young men buying fast machines that they don't have the experience to ride they are thinking with there genitals and not there brains, also I have friends that have raced super bikes and they have said that they would not have a super bike to just ride on the road, you cannot use the power of these machines and they are painful to ride any distance.
2:44 TURN!!! Listen everyone, I know you see videos of people low sideing but the BIKE WILL TURN, FAR MORE THAN MOST OF YOU EXPECT, EVEN IN RAIN!!! Just make sure you don't accelerate hard especially with a 4cylinder, but a V-twin usually will maintain traction due to 4 stroke engine with only 2 power stokes meaning its like ABS brake in reverse. And stay off the rear brake, that is a guaranteed low side, believe it or not most riders don't even realize they grazed that rear brake in a turn, especially focused on body position. Finally, you go where you look, so look where you wana go. Been riding sport since 1994, first bike 92' GSXR750

Amazing how some people are not aware of the need to run in new tyres. They are greasy for about the first hundred km’s and will not reach grip efficiency until that period has passed.
