Hi John. The foreign coin is 20 Kopeken, from the russian Kaiserreich, Kaiser Nikolaus II. 50% silver. The whole world was gathering on your field😊 Congrats. You find more coins on one tour than me in 6 month.
John was basically right when he guessed Finland, unfortunately we were part of Russia during that time (Finland became independent 1917) and we find those coins (kopecks) quite often.
🤣Got to love Simon John! He doesn't know what he has till you tell him! Like a new puppy and deffinitly a lifelong companion!! BRILLIANT!! Love these videos! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I hope you are all okay after this storm!! If you have days you can’t detect (assuming everything is okay) could we please have videos of all the “thingies” from the past that you may have learned any more information on? Like the lead tokens, and the markings on your silver ingots etc? Please take care!
Just an other great video John, keep going please. The dynamic duo on the fields.😊 Can you tell which program u use for the cross fading in the videos? Just for hobby purposes.,
Hi John… I had commented a couple weeks ago as my mum was born and raised in Falkirk, directly across the street from a park that hosted the great Battle of Falkirk,. I was too young to remember but I played in that park when I was just 4 years old. Boy John, would I love to get a coil over that soil! But mum not doing so well, she zones out just staring ahead. But… on Xmas we together watched one of your videos and she was excited and fully engaged the whole time, asking questions and making comments. Thank you for posting the great content, believe me, it is thoroughly appreciated. Greetings frae Ohio.
Hello John. I really enjoy watching your channel! Thanks for creating such interesting and entertaining content. I have a question about permissions and the treasure laws in the UK. First, what is the deciding factor on whether you have to report a treasure find? Is it purely a certain age like 200 years or older, or is it value? It seems like a relatively modern gold coin wouldn't be particularly historically significant from an archaeological standpoint, so do you have to turn those in? Also, when detecting on a permission, is there a standard agreement between you and the landowner as to who gets what? It seems like a bummer if you have to fork over all the best finds:)
12:37 I feel your excitement in my living room. You coins, maybe a little green, but I think I’m a little green with envy too, glad you had a great day.
First back after the vid… 38:39 I believe that’s a Russian empire silver 20 kopeks 1915 it was minted 2 years it’s 50% silver the obverse has double headed imperial eagle the writing is Cyrillic the ruler at the time was nikolai II. Great hunt bummer Simon lost (gotta root for the underdog lol) thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼 p.s. unless you forget your brush and poker in which case I won’t watch lol
What an eventful day lots of amazing finds and fun with double D Dominguez he never ceases to amaze. I honestly cant believe he walked away from a 26 on the nox tho thats a silver signal all day lol he should be digging any repeatable signals no matter the vdi. Like you always john if in doubt dig it out!! Great video as always John thanks for sharing keep up the hard work mate 👍
He doesn’t take a telling!! I was out with him today and he got a signal and said he’d just leave it, I then scanned and say, no you should dig that! He gets a musket ball and says ‘I think I should read the manual’ 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I also noticed it said there's a giveaway already up but I haven't noticed how to enter 😮 I've watched videos till the end up until this one have I missed the opportunity?
Well John I did say the other day I hope you find your pot of silver this coming year … well this is just the taster my friend …I said this is going to be your year … and I’ll stick by that … watch this space … you deserve it my friend !!
Well done again John, glad to see you let Simon keep the florin! Your videos are great entertainment packed with good finds and history to boot. All best wishes for 2024.
Brilliant day, John. I think you and Simon bring each other luck. I'm not the guy to give you history lessons. But I think the Brits pulled out in 1921, and the Republic of Ireland was established in 1922. But it was a quasi independence where they were still in the Commonwealth and accepted the Monarch. Their Civil War continued well into 1923 and the U.K. did not recognize Ireland's total independence until 1949. I may not have it totally correct, but it was something like that. Cheers.
The Free State was approved in 1922. The Irish Constitution of 1937 declared Irish independence, which as mentioned was ratified by the United Kingdom in 1949 when Ireland withdrew from the commonwealth.
Sitting down at the computer with an adult beverage at hand to watch The Scottish Detectorist and friends is always a good time! Thank you for bringing us along. Much appreciated!
Blessings, my Scottish Detectorist friend, from this old man in Tennessee. One more day of brilliant Silver Detectorist finds. Buying another Mount, for your DeussII, is a good idea…in the meantime, try a little cyanoacrylate (superglue) on that little plastic bit. I still think that Simon brings you good luck.
Well done. Nothing better to start the day than a silver surprise. When the ground freezes, I would very much enjoy a look back at finds that you took to the museum and what the museum had to say about the artifacts. The token systems of local currency was fascinating. The flax seals stories were also fascinating. You are so good at telling stories and that seems to do retail with your other business tour guiding. I would also be interested in deeper, or more general information about flax growing in PERTHSHIRE. Was there a golden age of flax growing. Was flax part of the industrial weaving boom? Or did cotton imports replace local flax? How did agricultural focus change during WWII blockades? Thank you for making interesting perspectives from the tiny tangibles. And thank you for the adventure, surprise and sharing of the joy of discovery.
Many thanks Eileen. I’m definitely going to do best of videos first chance I get! And I’ll definitely expand on the flax when I can! The flax wasn’t grown here but was imported most from Russia and the Baltic and the industry fell apart largely by ww2. Thanks for all the kind words and have a fantastic new year! John
Happy New Year, John - keep the silver and gold coming in 2024! I totally enjoy all the history you provide on the coins and relics, so "thanks" to you and the guys (Simon especially) for all the great detecting adventures. You've quickly become one of my favorite channels on the tube.
Another fantastic silver day and what an enjoyable video with the humour between you 😍 Looking forward to next year to see you increase your finds on those rich Perthshire fields! 😊 Are you going to consider selling those brilliant blue SD coin boxes as I’d love one - in fact it would need to be two as me and ouzalghost John would fight over it 😂😂
Hi John. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year to you. Thank you for all your videos over the past year, they have really helped me understand my detector more. I have entered for the giveaway! Fingers crossed I get something and your luck and Simons luck rubs off on me😁
Brilliant again John. Happy days, lots of laughs for you and Simon. That’s what it’s about and to find silver a plenty is a bonus. Watched all your videos now. Keeps me going whilst ploughing the fields of Auldearnshire.🤣
Have been watching the horrific storms on the news (yes, we've heard all about it as far away as Australia!) I hope everyone is safe and warm. Season's greetings and wishing you fabulously successful detecting in 2024. 🤓🎄
I wish you, and Simon and Marty a very productive New Year. May all your finds be treasure. Your videos are addictive. Looking forward to seeing more in 2024.
Silver galore! You are getting spoiled John. Finishing out the old year with a great day out with Simon, so lots of fun, lots of silver, other coins and a nice bottle. 🥰💕❤️👍👍
John, love to watch your videos. You've had a silver year for sure. How many total silver coins in 2023 ??? ❤❤ Keep up the good work. Watching from Seattle Washington State USA....if I wasn't so darn old, i'd ❤❤❤get myself a Regerton dectector and look around. I'll be 76 on January 28th !!!!
Hi John, at 17:46. You can fix the control box slide mount with a quality cyanoacrylate super glue. Make sure it is the liquid type and the professional grade glue not the watered down cheap stuff. Not the Gel stuff either! Will last a few digs until you get the new fitting
Happy new year!! Great times seeing you two finding treasures!! Love your comraderie John and big Simon!!😄 Looking forward to all your hunts in the new year John, thanks for sharing and all your knowledge, love it!!👍🪙💖

We believe in you, Simon! Hang in there and some day you'll make him jealous yet! 🙂On another note... I would love to see a collab between the Scottish Detectorist and The Scottish Isle. But maybe the man himself over there wants to do the honors someday. Who knows...
....sorry my spaniel decided to jump my lap! Can't understand why your pals never seem to be around?!? Thats good land you have & would be happy to join you from time to time, not far away & can manage my time easily, spend a lot of time detecting my permition anyway😂

Though most of the coins were Gorgeous George, who complains about silver! Will be interesting for see what the other foreign coin turnes out to be. Nice relics too. Great years end video, if it is. Cheers from Texas, John and Simon.
Hi john, happy new year when it comes. I used the Nox 800 for 3 years before my manticore and the deus 2 on Scottish soil. You're right about the origin but Nicolas II was the last Russian Czar. In 1917 he was killed by the Bolsewics together with his whole family.
I guessed Russian by the font
John was basically right when he guessed Finland, unfortunately we were part of Russia during that time (Finland became independent 1917) and we find those coins (kopecks) quite often.

Lifelong?!? You mean I’ve got to be his friend forever?!? 😮 I didn’t sign up for this Ray 🤣
I hope you are all okay after this storm!! I could probably watch DAYS of all the “stuff” you’ve found plus a roundup of everything else you’ve found prior to RUclips!
Just an other great video John, keep going please.
The dynamic duo on the fields.😊

I used the Nox 800 for 3 years before my manticore and the deus 2 on Scottish soil.
