Billie Joe's playing style of the early mid 90s could never be mimicked. How he played so hard and strummed so fast amazing how he didnt break strings one after another. The way he hung that Fernandez strat really low, and just the way he made blue sound blows my mind. just 3 of them and the music sounds so great like there's more guitars. Such a tight band. I miss that singing voice bj used to have. Lol so unique, god old green day is awesome
I mean...to be honest it's not that hard to mimick what he's doing - that attacking thing where he's bringing his whole upper arm and shoulder - but for me, if anyone DOES try to play like this they just 100% come across as ripping him off - no one can do it without looking like they're just copying him. I wish he still played like that, it's completely unique and it just gives off this insane energy! Love it
I was at this show. Amazing. Tickets were $10, no bs fees. They JUST started blowing up so took their small guitar stack Amps and plugged in to a 20 000 fan arena. Pansy Division opened. They were both awesome.
The absolute best green day era...matured but still young to be raw and pure w out all the lame stage shit like fire fancy back grounds, they never needed anything by the 3 of them, their guitars, and the same exact gear set up every show for years. Billie was such a pro so young, such an entertainer, every teenage boy green day fan wanted to be bj during dookie era. Even Mike was a beast back then look at him what energy and love for playing , they are the most perfect players for each other. I'm so happy beyond words that I got to experience this as a teen. So much fun to watch back then. I thought nirvana had me hooked, but this band blew Nirvana outta my cd rack
Whoever put this together, you did an epic job!! Really awesome document of that time period. It's basically like getting a sequel to Jaded In Chicago. Thanks so much
I’m amazed at the size of these venues they were playing, it’s a testament to the songwriting early on. Dookie could easily have come & gone on MTV’s 120 minutes with nobody but underground fans appreciating it, it’s really a miracle what happened.
i believe this was the first Arena show they did..and after seeing them in clubs in 93-94 i was blown away and didn't think they could pull it off..ha boy was i wrong..stadium show, again, this summer ha

i bet you also met the band and they bought you a nice big juicy steak before kissing you on the mouth. unless of course, you're just lying on the internet. cause you're irish, and not in NY lol
The crowd is absolutely awesome here....Love the singing during Longview and I can't remember ever hearing people sing along during Burnout. That's insane. What an awesome time. I'm glad I got to see them around this time, but in the UK they were playing much smaller venues, which is a blessing, but we never had the same singalong vibe, just not enough people in the crowd haha
it is and probably will remain the only time, unless they play at the ubs arena. they ain't playing at the new coliseum that things a joke. its sad cause i only live like 10 mins away from here
...as per usual, during 'Paper Lanterns', the not-so-obvious one is 'Resolution' by Fifteen--a great Berkeley punk band on Lookout Records...the actual lyric is: So you got a problem--and you want a solution You're gonna find it now in a resolution
Jesus effin Christ if I went there at 12 I would have had a panic attack! I was obsesseddddd w green day wow! This is coliseum right by my town. I saw pantera there but shit green day in 94 any day !
In 94 when I was 12 I cut my old pair of chucks into low tops making them black like Billie's lol. This is like the exact show they played at jaded in chicago
@h̸b̸o̸y̸p̸l̸a̸y̸z̸1 They all did. They were high as fuck all the time. Even name green day is about weed and they have some songs about drugs for ex. geek stink breath is about meth.
Think you can upload the video file for this onto google drive or some other place so we don’t have to watch this with RUclips’s compression? I literally watch this like once a month at least sometimes more cause it’s the closest Green Day ever performed to me and it was in their prime too and I would wonder what this would look like without any compression
I'm confused this show was after jaded in Chicago which aired Nov 22 1994. Bj didn't have those single dreds at jades in Chicago . I guess this date is wrong?
It’s so funny to see how lofi the lights are. I mean it looks like zero budget. There’s no set design. And now their tour design is Complicated. They sound as great now as they did then.
Lol did tim Armstrong and his buddy on the side really need to slap hands after he came off like yeaa bro that was awesome dude killer lollllol so stupid

Ernie Ball strings.

Amazing shit dude I was there too
you guys should post some pics/video!!
oh wait... you're lying... damn....
51:39 this has to be the first time in history that a performers mom just whips out her fun bags in the crowd.

It's likely they're on speed
This performance is so Greenday. The packed arena/colliseum, the agressive playing, the audio echoing through the room.
Whoever put this together, you did an epic job!! Really awesome document of that time period. It's basically like getting a sequel to Jaded In Chicago. Thanks so much
56:54 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He always used to fucking loose it during the intro of “She” 😂

Tim Armstrong and Billie singing together, awesome
I was there and completely unaware of Rancid at the time. This is awesome to watch...my first show as a 13 year old kid.
That dude and that gorgeous bad ass fuckin strat made me want to play. Bj made it seem like it could sound bad ass and still be simple chords.

I STILL REMEMBER!
i bet you also met the band and they bought you a nice big juicy steak before kissing you on the mouth.
unless of course, you're just lying on the internet. cause you're irish, and not in NY lol
What I would give to be at a Green Day concert in the 90s, shit looks like so much fun
I can‘t believe how many good shows and bands you were capturing. Taper legend! Keep it up! The quality is always bad ass.
thanks JM!!!
These fucking tapers, not living in the moment......waving their phones about....and the phones were huge in those days....
Thank you for putting it back up!! This concert is great ❤️

Wow! Tim Armstrong in Knowledge. Fucking AMAZING!
5:22 even on drugs he cared about his fans. Best band ever
Whos here watching this in 2024? 🤘🤘
Of all the times Green Day played in New York I think this is still the only time they’ve played in Long Island.
it is and probably will remain the only time, unless they play at the ubs arena. they ain't playing at the new coliseum that things a joke. its sad cause i only live like 10 mins away from here
Just saw them in Detroit - Comerica Park baseball stadium, sold out, 40,000 people. Always brilliant.
Just found green Day and I love this shit
fuck yeah!
