    I met Gerard Butler in Union Square in NYC, hands down one of the nicest person, let alone celebrity I've ever met. It all started when my backpack got stolen at Union Square. As I went around the park looking for it with my dog, he approached me and said, "nice pooch! mind if I say hello?" I told him in somewhat of an annoyed/upset tone and told him he could for a second because I need to go look for my backpack that just got stolen in the park. That's when he said, "you're bag got stole?" in his Scottish accent, and said, "well let's go look for it."
    This was around 9:30pm so it was dark, and didn't realize it was him until about 5 minutes into our search. I only realized it was him when we got to a well lit part of the park. He honestly walked around the park with me for a good 20 min. helping look for my bag, and playing with my pup at the same time.
    Hands down one of the most amazing down-to-earth guy I've ever met, let alone being a celebrity.

      it's cool when you catch them on good days. I know it's a first world problem kinda thing but it must be hard in that respect for celebs anyway. I know their lives are great by most standards but could you imagine having a bad day.. like we all do and hey, perhaps youre a bit grumpy and maybe you act like a little bit of a dick. We ALL have those days, all of us. I dont care who you are.
      Now, imagine you're famous and you have that day.. suddenly its videos. it's being talked about by everyone and you're the biggest asshole that ever walked the earth because of it.
      Everyones got an opinion about you, you're a spoilt asshole, you're this or that. Youve finally cracked under the pressure and now its everywhere.
      Fuck that. One part of their lives I absolutely do not envy. If I have a bad day.. I have a bad day. Thats about it. If they do, it's captured in time and theyre reminded of it for months afterwards.
      Either way, like I said.. cool you caught him on a good day. That was a really cool thing of him to do.

    • @DavidParker-cf2km
      @DavidParker-cf2km 6 лет назад +9

      I stand corrected. I skipped the briefing, all I wanted to see was how the F-16 performed and I missed the pilot saying he was going to pull 9 in a horizontal turn. I also missed Gerard Butler being fitted with a partial G-suit.
      From the '70s, the Blue Angels only pulled 3 Gs during their entire airshow and did not wear G-suits for a show. All I ever pulled was three Gs and was never issued a G-suit because I was not in a fighter squadron.
      But, that was a long time ago.

    These Navy, Marine and Air Force jet pilots are among the smartest people on earth. Hands down. Most of what they do is training, seat time BUT they have to be prepared at all times to make snap decisions when things do not go as planned or their training did not prepare them for,, therein lies their base intelligence. The ability to evaluate their circumstance, determine and execute decisions that will bring them back to Mother Earth - alive - hopefully with their billion dollar aircraft in one piece. I trained with 4 Marine pilots during my Artillery OBC in 1970. In those days it was a requirement pilots were to be cross trained as a familiarization with another branch of our military, this is where I really learned just how amazingly intelligent those pilots were and I have no reason to believe they are any less. Equipment has come a very long way since those times but so has the level of personnel mentally equipped to fly these magnificent aircraft.

    • @Jimmeh417
      @Jimmeh417 6 лет назад +2

      Plenty of pilots are taller than 6'4", it's all about the seated height. You can be 6'2" and be too tall to fly the same jet that a guy who's 6'6" can fly if he has long legs and you have a long torso.

The sweat on top of your head quickly hits your face, your shoulders feel like they weigh 200 lbs, and if you sustain it your feet start to feel swollen. For someone who's never done it before to hit 9.4 and not black out? Dude's a hardcore badass.

      What a lot of people don't know, unless you've gone through the training (For me, Tyndall AFB, 1997). The Oxygen system actually forces air into your lungs, which also doesn't make it easy. The Hick maneuver, isn't just to try and replenish your oxygen, but to also prevent too much of the air from building up in your lungs. You actually expel and take in about a gasp of air every 3 seconds. I remember during my initial training, as we sat in the pressure chamber wearing the masks, once 100% force was turned on and we had to say our names and try to talk normal, that was really difficult. Add to that the G-forces in flight, and it's a lot more. As your statement suggests, over time and training, your body adapts to the forces to allow you to speak. There are extremes, however, where you'll hear a pilot yelling because of the sustained G's or wild maneuvers.

    That salute and handshake maneuver at 10:30 was great. I always loved the synchronicity of the military, but ever since my dad had a military funeral and seeing the Marines up close, it gives me goosebumps to see them in tandem

    What the hell? The pilot is so calm. I grew up on AFB'S all over our great nation and never had such a great appreciation for these tremendously skilled pilots. You all rock! Thank you for what you do.

    Gerry, You’re fortunate to have been given the opportunity ... hat’s off for handling the ride so well! Not many people can keep their nerves under control, much less stay conscious!
