  • Which of these planes do you like more? Write it in the comments. In addition to that please tell me which planes I should compare next. You decide !!
    It` s time for another "versus" video. This time I would like to know if you prefere the Airbus A380 or the Boeing 747. This is my 10th comparison and this time I decided to compare the biggest passengar planes, the A380 with the B747.
    The first Boeing 747 entered service in February 1971. A total of 2000 planes have been built within the past 45 years.
    The first Airbus A380 was delivered in 2007 to Singapore Airlines. Until today 187 planes have been bulit and Airbus is currently thinking about producing an Airbus A380neo which will be more fuel efficient.

    I flew on both models and I prefer the A380. The A380 have more room and a cozy feeling that the 747-8 does not have. The 747 felt more packed compared to the A380. A380 hands down the best airline for the passenger.

    Why is the A380 better that the 747? Can someone explain?
    The 747 started its carrier 50 years ago in 1969, and up to this day it's still not discontinued. The a380 came out in 2007, and will be discontinued in the next couple of years. Boeing sold more than 1500 747’s, for an airplane that size that is an incredible amount, especially compared to the A380 which sold 500 (mainly because of Emirates because they have bought 250 planes. The intercontinental version of the -8 isn’t sold much and the A380 is (compared to the 747-8). The reason is that Boeing was to late in producing it, it came after the A380. Big plane’s like these 2 are not efficient enough to compare to the a350 and 787, so airlines would buy these if the were looking for new aircrafts. The airlines that still wanted a big plane bought the A380 because the -8 wasn’t released. This is why airlines like emirates have the a380.
    And we haven’t even begun about the 747 as a freighter, it's by far the best freighter. It uses a hugo door in the front, this makes in possible to fly around long objects which wouldn't fit thru the door of other planes. The -8 might not be a very much sold intercontinental but as a freighter its still by far the best plane.
    So can someone please explain why the A380 is better?
    This is based off an interview with Marc Allen at Boeing (president of boeing, embraer and group operations) that I did for a school project.

    • @DaveMiller2
      @DaveMiller2 5 лет назад

      The A380 isn't better. It's a project to stroke the ego of the EU. The A380 is never going to even begin to pay for it's 25 billion Euro development cost. It is expensive to buy, inefficient to operate, tricky and expensive to maintain, being retired years early by every airline flying it, is being discontinued, and too big for most airports. The 747 is more efficient, has a slightly longer range, changed aviation, and made a fortune for Boeing, in addition to your points. Not to mention the 747 is a beautiful and majestic plane and the most recognized plane in the world. The A380 is butt ugly.

    • @Cargospotter
      @Cargospotter  8 лет назад +11

      no, there isn' t. They planned to built a cargo A380 but the costs were too high.

    • @chadmeyer9500
      @chadmeyer9500 8 лет назад +6

      That's strange since freighters are actually cheaper. Which is pretty obvious given their lack of seats, galleys, lavatories, entertainment systems, passenger oxygen systems, luggage storage, etc etc etc. The A380F only became "too expensive" when no one wanted it. Which isn't surprising since it wasn't the cost of the airplane that was the killer, it was the fact that it's not compatible with existing cargo operations that use single-deck aircraft.
      After all, the cargo companies would expect to be able to put freight on both decks, whereas Airbus seems to have been thinking about bigger pallets on the lower deck. So if you're talking about overall expense to operate the planes, I guess you're right. But it wouldn't have cost Airbus any more.
      I seriously doubt Airbus ever even really considered a freighter version. That's one of those little enticements aircraft manufacturers and CEOs and lenders to go for buying new airplanes. The old "residual value when we're done with it" ploy.
      Since even the largest passenger airports have had to make changes for the WhaleJet, and most cargo carriers fly out of their terminals and smaller regional airports whenever possible, it wasn't going to happen. Just like all the b.s. about night clubs and showers and gyms was just put out to get those rich mid-east oil countries to buy them for their national carriers and depreciate them out in 5 years so the Saudi princes and other camel jockeys could buy them cheap used and turn them into flying palaces.
      Now the way it looks, they're going to have to fly them into the ground since they're only supposed to have about a 20-year life cycle and most of them will be worn out before Airbus even finishes deliveries. That's why Emirates is still pushing Airbus to build its planes ASAP even though Airbus would probably love to just cancel the damn thing. The day Airbus announces they're axing the A380, every one built will be pretty much worthless.
      Airbus should really just give up its ridiculous fantasy of "competing" with Boeing. They just don't get that Boeing is going to do whatever it needs to do to stay in business. Ultimately, Boeing doesn't care if they're building more planes than Airbus because they're not in business to build more planes than Airbus. They're in business to build airplanes PERIOD.
      Two entirely different countries on different continents with different histories and significantly different business models, corporate visions and mission statements are NOT going to EVER be in direct, actual competition.
      Europeans simply do not understand capitalism and free markets and it doesn't appear that Airbus will ever figure out that if you build only ONE THING and build it very well and sell it at a fair price, that is enough. Later, as you become more profitable, you can expand your product line and capitalize on the results of that initial success.
      But when it takes you almost 15 years to build your first airplane and you're stuck on some "compete with Boeing" kick so you keep bringing out new planes when you can't even deliver what you promised years ago, eventually even all the government subsidies in the world aren't going to keep you in business.

      D S That's basically down to the added weight and complexity implications of a system like that. Carrying all that around during flight would be really uneconomical. Also the energy that goes into spinning up the wheels through contact with the runway helps slow the aircraft down, which takes some of the load off the brakes
