I've had mine for over ten years, now. I still like it very much! When I first bought the pedal, I had no idea that it is from Digitech and that it was Made in the U.S.A.
@@mattgilbert7347 I stopped using the BB due to the constant noise on the overdrive channels. I now use an EVH LBX-1 into a Bluguitar 1×12 and a Line 6 helix for FX and overdrives.
This overview/demo is top notch. Very, very thorough. I really like this pedal. It seems to live somewhere between a traditional distortion and traditional overdrive. Definitely on my short list. Thanks for the terrific video.
I have the SC-2 and a telecaster too, it's a great mix believe me!!! I can do all and for heavier sounds it works very well if boosted by another pedal!
man, I've been lurking around these distortion pedal demos on youtube, looking for a decent one, almost decided to get a much more expensive dirtbox, but this video definitely got me thinking of buying an SC-2 really, nice tone, put a smile on my face when you played the first distorted chord :) subscribed
Just bought mine 2 days ago. If you like to have a warm sounding classic rock affordable distortion this is one to go with. When I played with it my Boss DS2 went straight to e-bay :)
@NeoSoft..Ive been using this pedal for about a year and Its amazing. To boost my leads Ive been using the BBE Boosta Grande. Nice Clean 20db boost for about 80 bucks.
I can't decide between this and the CM-2.. My goal is 80's heavy metal, like Iron Maiden, and I feel like this pedal is a bit more powerful than the CM-2. But it's also more nasal, and I prefer the tone of the CM-2, I'm just afraid the latter won't push the sound enough. Also, take a shot for everytime I wrote CM-2
@MyEverConstantSmile No, I usually use this pedal with maximun gain, bass set to 1:00 and high set to 11 (like this: ( /) (\ ) ) and with a "clean playing" (well muting the stings that don't have to sound) the answer is wonderfull! I also use a to boost the sc2 with another peda for solos to get extra gain! Ceck my last video to hear the sc2 in action!!!
Burgurman, you did us all a great service by posting this video. An excellent job! Do you think if I used this pedal in front of my Roland Cube 20X, that it would be redundant? The 20X has some decent sounding distortion models on its' own, namely "Metal Stack" and "Metal" models. Is this pedal only for tube amps?
@classic005465 i just wanted to say, i have a cube 20x. i was initially really happy with all the different sounds it gave me, when i became more sensitive to different sound textures (after 6 years or so) i began to realise how horrible those distortion modes sounded. i actually prefer a distortion pedal on the clean channel than the built-in distortion and i have more overdrive/distortion pedals than anything else. redundant? only if it doesn't make you sound better.
@VictorC53 :3 Speaking of the Grunge pedal, and I don't know if this is true or not, but I have heard the EXH Metal Muff is based around the DOD / Digitech Grunge pedal...
It a "harmonic slide" - like for normal harmonics (pick squeal) you lightly touch the string with your right hand edge or the side of your right thumb - well lightly cover all the strings with the edge of your left hand so you get harmonics and slide. You need a lot of gain, of course - there's probably videos showing how to do it, but mess around - it's not that hard with a bit of practice. Best I can explain, hope it helps!
I'd be interested to see a clip of your gig board. It would be nice to see which of these many pedals 'made the cut'! ;-) Cool videos - the Hardwires sound pretty great!
I promest myself never to by a digitec product again, with the fear of it sounding to digital(dont get me wrong there are digitec products that I love just perhaps not the destorsions) but I realy like this!! awsam vid
I find that these Hardwire pedals are extremely loud in the 12 o clock setting. when i dial in my amp on clean and a tad quiter then i want the vol to be and then swicth on the cm-2 or tl-2 the room starts to explode. srsly its just way louder then I think its supposed to be. ny thoughts on that? my problem is that if you roll down the vol on the pedal too much, it ucks away the effect itself..
@bingefeller agreed. i owned the grunge, that being said i wonder who the deaf mute was that was in charge of the r and d department at digitech during its development........
@lewisismad Oh my God, the fact that you would ask such thing makes me question your sexuality. The Boss Metal Zone is the biggest waste of money on God's green Earth. Go with this :)
+mike swann Why is it always those that are wrong make the most "factual" yet incorrect sounding statements with the most arrogance. It takes all of 30 seconds to confirm the Hardwire CM-2 and SC-2 are *analog*. Or in your world does anything that has the name 'digi' mean it *has* to be digital? Assumptions and all that... "Sorry but it's not it's digital." No need to be sorry, other than for your lack of research and knowledge.
It's not a digital pedal. It's analog. I know the company is Digitech, and it leads you to think that they only do digital, but it's not true. This is an analog pedal.
Hello ! Thanks for you demo. i hesitate between Hardwire sc 2 and tc electronic dark matter, your opinion can help me (i cant really try them). I use now a ETX east river drive whit nux boost for sweet drive but i'm looking for stronger distortion to play S Lukather, little shred for exemple. My amps is a H&K tubemeister 18 head. I play on strato (sss) and French Lag (double coils pickup guitar) thanks for your opinion!
I have both, and the Hardwire is much more fluid and natural sounding. Enough so that I have 2 of them. It has become my goto distortion along with the Fulltone GT500.
@nintendoor1 check the video ''Andertons Xmas Stocking Fillers Part 1'' if you haven't already, they test them both. I watched it and I decided that the sc2 would do for me. Though burgerman666 did a great job, it sounds much better in person imho. Soft and smooth, its high gain is just enough for me. Hope it works for you.
@bingefeller - Digitech gets too much undeserved flak... but yeah, I totally agree about the pile of poo that was the Grunge pedal. LOL This Hardwire series is killer.
Alessandro Longoni Okay if you say so but at the music store where they sell them and where I buy all my gear they've always told me, and I've inquired several times, that all Hardwire pedals are digital but if it makes you happy I'll say that they're analog.
Mike Swann I said it is analog because I remembered I read it on a description in a website saying that all overdrive and distortions in the Hardwire line are analog circuits. I wrote to Digitech asking about it, let's see what they have to say. I'll comment here their reply if I ever get one.
I found that this pedal sucks (literally) with humbuckers. A total tone-suck. Just start listening at 4:28 until he turns on the pedal. The pedal cuts out all midrange. If this had a mid knob maybe it'd be more versatile. But IMO it just cuts the balls off of a humbucker guitar.
This is probably the best review for this pedal on RUclips, it seems like a really nice pedal, very versatile
I've had mine for over ten years, now. I still like it very much! When I first bought the pedal, I had no idea that it is from Digitech and that it was Made in the U.S.A.
The crunch with the tele sounded heavenly!
I'm still using this pedal as my Marshall 80's rock sound with the saturation switch engaged (boosted by a Boss od-1), into a fender Bassbreaker 15.
Same! SD-1 instead of an OD-1 but otherwise, same.
How do you like the BB15? I am thinking of swapping out the speaker. Maybe a Creamback...65

Great review - exactly what we wanted, lots of playing! So impressed I just bought one online. Thanks!
This is a great pedal and a perfect match for a Tele. Can’t wait to get mine back from the repair shop

Lol. I think I'm gonna get one of these. I've never been a big fan of Boss(Roland's) dist./O.D. pedals.
It depends on the type of music you play but I think this one is more versatile than Boss
i use this pedal too in crunch mode..it's really amazing!
You have the best reviews on RUclips!
Keep on posting!
I still have mine. Great sounding distortion. Too bad they discontinued the Hardwire line. They were pretty decent pedals.
Mike Lowrey The cm-2 is my go to drive.
@@nicolausteslaus how does the orange sound w/o the pedal? :)

i like the picking sensibility of this pedal its realy cool!
Great vid, I have this pedal and love it, but it sounds so much better whenyou use it, thanks for the ideas

@bingefeller The Grunge pedal is awesome if you're playing the right stuff. I use it with my Gibson SG and I love it.
very nice demo - thanks!
there's no conflict. if you prefer the valve amp sound, either will sound better with a valve amp than a solid state amp.
