David you’re doing much better thank you! If the DPO ( dreaded previous owner) was complaining of overcharging, most certainly it’s not because of the positive connection and less the positive connection to the solenoid was in the wrong place or one of the other wires😳😳 Or worst-case scenario, the alternator is having issues, or on the verge of going out . You’re absolutely have to have a positive connection to the battery or the charging circuit won’t charge to begin with😳😳! Or, perhaps, even the battery could’ve been the issue. You’re actually doing a lot better keep it up 👏👏
What you’re experiencing with that zinc mounting screw to the solenoid, is the very reason why I don’t use old screws like that. I replace them with either stainless steel or with a small socket, hex head or even something requiring an Allen key with a washer. little upgrades like that won’t hurt the value of the vehicle, increases service ability in the future.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it's the alternator, which is non-original. That's a problem for "future David"!
