- It's common for people to recommend simply throwing a jacket on over their CCW.
Sometimes, it's not quite that simple.
There are other, more accessible and versatile options that are worth considering.

Would be nice to have a follow up video on what to look for in a vest; different styles and seasons, etc..
From a 55yo lady watching this video, as you stated, "There are some circumstances where an untucked button-up is not a good look, like when you're wearing a sports jacket..." and my immediate thought was "unless you are Don Johnson". I always enjoy your videos. My fav gun is the Kel-tec P32 ultra concealable. I own 2. Would buy a 3rd, but they are so hard to find. The 10rd ext magazine must have been discontinued, as these are nowhere to be found!
I like the vest as an additional cover. When I went to a class in a non-permissive environment, I wore a Columbia fleece vest whenever I wasn't sitting at my desk. It didn't look out of place because it was winter and it helped to cover up any printing from the large for my size gun + mag I was concealing in a sidecar holster. Vests like what you're wearing can dress up an outfit and break up printing.
If you can pull that off in the Houston area heat and humidity, more power to you. I would quickly resemble a drowning victim. And vests are so uncommon that the first thing I would think was - concealing a gun. In the "winter" here - maybe.
Honestly, I've had soft shells and fleece vests pass the oh so important wife test as far as aesthetics, to the point where I've received a puffer vest for a family photo op. It hasn't quite cooled down enough for me to start using them except in the early mornings, but it's probably something I'm going to look at doing as it cools off.
Damn, very timely video! One shoulder was a reverse joint replacement and the other one just got “scraped/cleaned/and posted” so I can’t really rely on any movement past 3 o’clock. Although a zip up hoodie is ok down here in SEMO/EBFE, in St Louis I can see a vest becoming a great cover garment!
And I second the request for what to look forward in a vest or waist coat. And what I could wear with it. Short sleeves? T shirt? I’m 55, so want to look classy yet stylish. LOL
I'll add it to the list!
Hope you heal up quickly
Shirt jackets/chore coats may have potential
I’m wondering if this would work with 4 o’clock inside the waist band? That’s my preferred carry location.
Do you think the waistcoat or suit vest could be made to work with a shoulder holster?
