I thought he had already did this but I was wrong. But now it will exist. I love these Egyptian archetypes that aren't just, *YU-GI-OH NOSTALGIA BAIT ADDITION*
@@niero4201 archetypes usually from og yugioh. Like dark magician yes, but also, blue eyes (which isn't crazy Egyptian but hey) gravekeepers and the Egyptian gods. Most Egyptian concepts aren't being explored because it's involved with og yugioh. Though Ogdagic, nephthys and hieratic involve Egyptian concepts in interesting ways. This game inherently steeped in Egyptian lore so when the archetypes involving it is just *Oh boy dark magician gets more support ooooo* it disappoints me a little. We could be exploring things involving more of Egypt, it just seems that konami running out ways to do it without colliding with og yugioh.
I love how the Ogdoadic Archetype shares Design Aspects with the Hieratic's hinting at their mythological connection, Both wearing Gold Armor but with bodies seemingly being made of a type of Energy, Hieratic's being made of light of varying colors, while the Ogdoadic appear to be made of a similarly Dark Smoke or Shadow like substance (fittingly you cant have Shadows without light and Ogdoadic is a mix of Light and Dark Monsters) Both using tributes as a big part of their mechanics but with Hieratic's using Xyz playing at their grand and cosmic like nature and Ogdoadic using the grave to hint at their more dark and abyssal like nature.
Ogdoadics and Hieratics actually go together in their Secret Booster in Master Duel! Gods of Abyss and Arcadia is made up of Hieratic and Ogdoadic cards.
13:35 in Egyptian mythology the sky is the ocean you sailed across to arrive in the land of the dead Most notably, Ra is the god of the sun yes, but when he's no longer the king of the gods the role pases on to Osiris and Horus. Osiris is the god of the afterlife. And Horus the god of the sky, Horus also took over the duties of shepherding the sun across the sky. So if we linked this to Yu-Gi-Oh, since the hieratics clearly have a connection to Winged Dragon of Ra, once Ra is gone Heliopolis is both the overlord of the sun and sky. Overlord is also a pretty good descriptor for the king of the Ennead, because the Pharaoh as a living incarnation of divinity is the king of the terrestrial world, while Ra and his successors are the kings of everything, including the Pharaoh. Interesting then that the hieratic king carries the same name as the titular Pharaoh.
Hieratic Rulers are what got me into actually going to yugioh events. I have a huge soft spot for this archetype. From the ashes with dragon rulers was so nasty back then.
I would also appreciate if the video had showed the reasons why people don't often use Hieratic anymore. Like for the bricks (even with the search spell), for the lack of good low level monsters that can be easily special summoned and for the boss monster having way less versatility and representing way less threat than the other dragon boss monsters that can be summoned way easier in other archetypes such as Borreload Savege and Hot Red Dragon in Rokket decks, more specifically I'm Chaos and Dragonmaid variants.
There's also some other useful tech cards not mentioned in the video that work quite nicely. Monster Gate and Downbeat can function as additional copies of nebthet and su, while Artillery Catapult Turtle can fetch out either of the lvl5s. Galactic Spiral is an excellent card to summon with Atum, providing greater access to rank 8s. Gaia Dragon The Thunder Charger allows for a neat interaction with Atum and Creation, where you can summon it over Atum after using its effect, then use creation to make a second Atum. As for normal monsters, Wattail Dragon is a good choice as a non-tuner to complement Labradorite. Other builds of the deck can also make use of Saffira, Queen of Dragons, though you probably need to build the deck around her somewhat in order to get access to both it and the ritual spell. Finally, the number of 8s and 6s you run mean Celestial Observatory and Trade In can be quite helpful for unbricking your hand.
Honestly, even though I grew attached to these cards in high school…I’ve never heard of Sutekh until now. It was probably a high rarity card for the set since it was some kind of boss monster, but still. Also quick side note: YOU MISSED RABIDRAGON AGAIN!
Hieratic - is also a play on Heretic and Hierarchy. These dragons reference real life Egyptian gods and the in game Egyptian God Ra. I think they are meant to be False Gods in Yu-Gi-Oh lore like knock offs of the "real Sun God Dragon" Ra
As someone who once bought a bunch of cards for a game convention and never got another physical pack, and these were my best strategy... yeah blue eyes and rabidragon were some cards I had to put it in fulfill my rank 8 lineup since I didnt have any other xys besides dark mist... and these dragons arent making dark mist.
YO! I just made a Lair Of Darkness/Heiratic deck yesterday and it’s insanely fun. Was honestly thinking what other Heiratic cards I add so I’ll be paying attention this video!
They need lite-clothed priestesses that can become dragon-types. to either summon or add Hieratic cards from deck , GY or Banished to the field or hand.
Dude I would love to see you make a video about the superheavy samurai archetype. I just think they’re such a cool series, plus all their Japanese names are a play on words so that’s kind of right up your puntastic alley
I have played hieratics for going on 12 years now (God I'm old lol) but I have been enamored by their designs and capabilities ever since going to the galactic overlord sneak preview and winning the sneak preview with my makeshift mini hieratic deck. I still have that sneak preview mat to this day. I've evolved and built so many variants of the archetype, Synchro builds, xyz builds, guardragons, dragonmaid, chaos, lair of Darkness, albaz/branded, blue-eyes, red-eyes, galaxy/photon, odd-eyes, Dragon rulers, gishki, nekroz, saffira, and more I'm sure but that's all u can remember lol.
I really hope someday we get more Hieratic cards, simply because the archetype was so fun to play. I'm not entirely sure what you could do to make this deck type better besides maybe offering more protection or even a field spell to try and help out but I'd love any excuse to pick up what I affectionately referred to as Dragon Communism back when I played.
God this brings me back to when I used to play Hierarchic Red Eyes in like 2016, i miss that deck and using the claw of hermos for the red eyes sword for big ass otks
I'll be sleeping by the time this premieres but I'm so hyped for it!! Hieratics were one of the dumb decks i actually managed to win a few duels with so I'd love to see some info on cards I missed a chance at pulling and what the original game plan for them was
Omg I love Hieratics! I tried playing the deck when I first got into competitive Yu-Gi-Oh!. Never did well tho. Honestly wish the Selection 10/Ghosts From the Past support was better, tho… Also, you should have said which Enaed god each on is when you went over it… And with Sun Dragon Overlord become Sky Dragon Overlord, that because Ra and Hours become one and become Ra-Horakhty, ruler of all that is in the sky. And we should get new support that expands beyond the Enneads to their kids (like Thoth and Khnum).
I actually have this deck most of my opponents hate when I use it because I start teaching Egyptian mythology with the deck plus I know Egyptian too well
Y'know, I'm just glad there was no "Sutehk Deez Nuts" joke somewhere in there. I mean, look at them! The joke is literally floating right there in the Deck!
I love these type of monsters that have plasma/neon energy-like bodies or wings especially. Are there any other archetypes besides galaxy-eyes that also have this aesthetic? I'd love to play it. (Some prank kids cards look like that too but I know about those too)
I would love to know how this theme stacks up against the Egyptian God cards in terms of their Egyptian lore. The first time I ever saw that card I read it as “Rabbi Dragon” and I’ve never been able to see it differently.
Even in Duel Links, Hieratic is my deck of choice. I just find so much fun in xyz spamming my opponent.
Even at x1 of the box they can surprise many opponents.

Is a very competent deck, konami new support was a nice boost, if they keep doing support the deck might see some tops at locals or regionals.
