No it isn’t the best version of no man’s sky but it’s definitely one of the best ways to play it when you consider it’s portability aspect and the form factor of the switch and it’s definitely one of the most impressive versions technically when you think it’s running on the switch which at this point is outdated 2016 mobile hardware.
as someone who doesn't care about multiplayer, it's worth it. i usually play games in story mode or offline mode, so it's not a deal breaker for me. and it's understandable to why they didn't include multiplayer, probably because the game size would be larger and they had to downgrade the game more to fit multiplayer mode.
Worth it if you like this developer. Personally I love that they have continued to support this game and bring the features. They promised the fact that the fit the whole game on the switch and didn’t leave things out is huge. I will happily pay full price to support these guys and their efforts.

I'd still go with the switch. Its been a lot of fun so far and portability when you have a family is essential. The steam deck is good in theory but the battery life in comparison, the OLED just wins.

The stutter whilst it happens isn’t as bad as you think still honestly playable on mine, forza horizon 5 returals and need for speed unbound are quite unplayable due to the stutters on the deck though.
I think it might be worth picking it up (at least digitally) especially if I were to game share with another console (my older and younger brother share a Switch). This essentially makes the price $30 for each console (total $60).

i mean most people dont have or havent heard of a steam deck compared to switch so the main minuses are the price and no multiplayer for switch... for now. its a great pickup imo, especially if you find it on sale later on.
Definitely not the best version but still an incredible feat. Render distance took a big hit. Lots of mining delays. Glitching here and there, but nothing game breaking so far. I’m amazed that I’m able to play this game on my Switch. I never thought it would happen. Now I just need RDR2.
I got the game physically for £32 Inc postage,that's a good price for a switch game And I can play,keep and use that cart on the multiple switch consoles my family have as we do share all the game carts,it can be re sold if no one plays it I'm amazed by it,we can't afford steam deck and it's too early to buy into the deck right now anyway for me The only gripe is online mode,I would really want to play with at least 1 friend online from time to time,we live in 2022 for goodness sake so I hope the game sells well and the developers give us some type of multiplayer
I totally agree I am an old gamer been game playing for the past 45yrs or more playing things from tabletop games to video games on the Switch which is the only console I could afford, got a PC but it's not a gaming PC. A steam deck or any similar consoles are out of my price range.
I only have two major issues with the switch version. 1. Base items take too long to load in. I can stand inside my Base for almost 30 seconds before anything loads. 2. Multiplayer is missing.
I got the game for £34 in the UK ($37). Essentially half price. And that was as a physical cartridge. Also I do think that comparing it to playing on a Steam Deck is a bit silly. Considering how you have to manually optimise the game yourself, and even then still suffer crashes and stuttering. Also, the Steam deck, Series X and PS5 are double the price of the standard Switch. Sure, the game costs more to download. But it balances out.

Sure the storage is slightly faster on the more expensive models, but if you look at comparisons in performance there is only a negligible difference in framerates.
@@mist1373 Nah, you are sort of limiting how well you can run it, I have to switch shader cache off due to the amount of storage it takes on the 64gb model and even then I don’t have a lot of storage left like 8gb due to steam redistributables.
I don't think most Switch multiplatform games are the best version, nor do I think people expect them to be, but that's not what makes them worth it either. What makes Switch ports so special is that you get a fully portable version of a game without having to buy something like a Steam Deck if you don't own one.
I've had no man's sky on Nintendo Switch since it's release It's a really Good Game. the only thing I would like better is for the game to be 4K or 1080p. If you are playing No Man's Sky for the first time the multiple player will not ruin the game because there is plenty of Single play Content and weekly single player modes online.
I agree it's your opinion that it's probably not worth it on Switch but think what it's doing to younger people who haven't got all the mid to high end Pcs and xbox or play stations to play on, and they only have a Nintendo Switch. It's putting hell of a pressure on parents when their kids are saying that they want a more powerful device PC or xbox to play No Man's Sky on. Personally I have this game on Switch since launch and put around 15hrs or so into it and found it a decent port also have Cities Skylines which some say "not a good port for the Switch, need to play it on a PC or console for better graphics etc." a better comment should have been if the Switch is the only device you have then it's not a bad port. Think about the younger people who watch your RUclips videos and the parents. Rant over.
Mine has had a really bad problem with crashing. I got to 25 hours of gameplay and it won’t even boot up for more than a minute before crashing. I created another profile and the same happened after 3 hours. I’ve contacted Nintendo support and went through everything with them and it’s still happening. I’m just curious if it’s a widespread problem or if I have terrible luck
Multiplayer is a dealbreaker for me. I may still get it when it’s on sale but I really want it to be able to play with friends. Never played it before but I’ve always enjoyed it when friends play it.
I think the game is worth it but as someone who already plays this game on PS4. I’m just going to wait for a price drop before getting it on my switch.

It is the best way to play no man's sky for a reason: a moddable switch is an overclockable switch (switch natively runs underclocked). Steam deck? That thing id crappy and shitty
Switch version is really good and it's portable. Obviously the textures ain't as good but whatever. I can play this on a train and didn't have to drop my life savings on a steamer deck.
@@ryanisright3559 Search for channel "Switch 60 FPS Handheld". He is uploading like many games incl. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 running with no issue at 60FPS. The Switch Tegra X1 is downclocked. So in theory you dont overclock it, but kinda reverse the frequency to factory. :) Games run super than.
By cheat do you mean modding your switch. And it’s incredibly difficult to mod oleds currently and not worth it because of the risk of being banned which will f over and needed patches or updates that games will require.

I actually kind of like the fact theres no multiplayer- you’re not gonna start a new character then get gifted 55 Billion credits by some anon in the anomaly completely ruining any kind of meaningful, natural progression. Only thing stopping me is the price is way too high for something that i can play at a higher quality for free,

Series X is probably the best platform. It's on Game Pass (for now), and supports Quick Resume, even despite it's online functionality. I'll probably still buy a Switch copy at some point. I also have a PS4 copy (I've never played).

I love the switch and great that this game is on it, but of course steam deck is better, and if you get a dock you can play it in higher resolutions and with mouse and keyboard if you want. And, of course, you also have the option to continue your cloud save on a full beef gaming PC and VR. So steam wins easily.
We don’t need background on this game, everyone knows the story. No one clicked on the video because of how the game was in the past, we clicked because of how the award winning game is at present. No one in their right mind is thinking the Switch is the best place to play this. If you have a console,pc or steam deck, those are the best places to play. The Switch version is for folks who only have a Switch as their console or Switch as their only handheld.
No they didnt. I have been playing it for about 6 hours and its a fantastic port. I have it for PC and Console but I can play it on Switch in my recliner while the wife watches TV. Perfect.

I set the UMA buffer to 4Gb in the Steam Deck Bios and it massively reduced the amount of stutters I had.
Lack of large settlements is a bummer but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it so far.
