Aerith is the more forthcoming one, openly flirting with Cloud. Tifa is the shy one, hence often keeping her distance. Aerith is seemingly more confident vs Tifa is more unsure of herself. Their different personalities can also be reflected during the gold saucer date where Aerith says what's on her mind without much hesitation, despite the delicate topic ("Cloud, I'm searching for you"), whereas Tifa has trouble expressing herself (Cloud...? I... ... ..."). She even says: "Aerith would be able to just come out and say it probably..." so yeah.
So long as they don't suddenly make Aerith and Tifa hate each other out of sheer jealousy and instead keep them as friends like they did in the original, the love triangle being expanded upon is ok
Oh yeah I don’t think they’re going to make it competitive, I just want them to show these characters maturing as the game goes on. I love subtle character evolution like that.
Since Cloud had such a terrible childhood and was a loner/not popular, left out of a group growing up, he deserves a harem of women and men as an adult!
FutureCloud I think that was more of a case of “paying” his men. In fact, when you meet him again, he had kidnapped Yuffie and Elien(sp?) and end up deciding to take both of them for himself.
That's one of my favorite parts of the new trailer. Aeriths and Tifas personalities. They seem very much intact from the original, where Aerith DGAF and Tifa being more shy and or distant. And it is crazy how well they came through in 97 to think how well it will be come march 2020. Now I will continue to wake up every day hoping for a demo lol.
Nice analysis, I’d spotted some of those interaction things in the trailers too (Tifa being a bit more reserved while Aerith is more openly flirty). One thing other people have said though, and I agree with on closer inspection - the scene with Tifa standing and Cloud on the bed is probably not the Shinra tower cell as we originally thought, but maybe just a room in 7th Heaven. The reason is the wooden floor and the tatty walls, which don’t look much like corporate Shinra. Shortly after that they show the scene of Cloud and Tifa coming out of the building with the Watchmen of Fate swirling round. While not everything is chronological in the trailers it looks like these scenes could be one after another.
Well I looked at side by side screenshots, the areas are super similar. The bed is attached to the wall, the floor has the straight line separators between the planks, and the scene is almost reversed entirely. Tifa is the one standing and Cloud is the one on the bed. That’s why I think it’s the Shinra HQ
I believe Cloud and Aerith had instant chemistry and he felt deeply for her but I don’t know that it was love. Then again, I’m a die-hard Cloud and Tifa shipper, and I always play to boost Tifa’s affection rating because she was ALWAYS there for him and was trying to protect him the whole time. Besides, Aerith and Zack forever!
I agree. I'm also biased cause I prefer Tifa x Cloud to Aerith x Cloud but I think both work. I've played various playthroughs boosting both but I prefer the Tifa route. Although even then I'm slightly biased cause my first playthrough I boosted tifa's relationship pretty much to the max without even realizing I was doing it. I just gravitated to her character more and I always related to cloud be introverted and socially awkward but hiding it by not speaking unless it means something or is important. So I know how much a character/ person like Cloud needs someone like Tifa who always has his back and has similar issues opening up to him so that she understands him and gets him to open up and be more social. Granted Aerith also gets him to open up but I always felt that she didn't understand as much or as right off the back as Tifa did. Part of that is probably cause of them being childhood friends (kinda). Edit: Also I love the Zack and Aerith pairing so much more than her and Cloud. So I'm really biased. I do hope they keep the relationship system in place though just cause I feel like it was one of the best parts of the original and made replays so fun. I probably did 30 replays just to see the changes in the story and when I was messing around picking things at random I got the Barett date at the Golden Saucer and just about died laughing at how awkward it was.
This is something I'm actually excited to see. The fact they're fleshing out Jessie more even adds to the mix regardless of...you know. I'm really hyped to see how characters react with one another in this game. So far, it seems brilliant.
Not at all. All she talked about with Cloud is if he had friends in SOLDIER and that she was in love with someone in SOLDIER. It's very apparent that she loves Zack and wants to be around Cloud because he reminds her of him in some way (Mako eyes, Buster Sword, SOLDIER status, etc). She even tells him (and herself) that it's not real. In the Remake, the devs have definitely made it very clear who Cloud's clear choice is and it's very mutual.

As a completely new player that never played the original game I can safely say it’s clear as day that the only couple being pushed in the Remake is Cloud and Aerith. There’s a multitude of evidence throughout, with only 2 instances in the Remake where Cloud and Tifa could potentially be seen as romantic.
Yeah I’m thinking that might be the case as well. When Nomura revealed that, I was like ok, I like the sound of that, but we haven’t seen any of that yet. So unfortunately I have to play it by sight.

I thought the most romantic scene in the trailer was when Cloud and Tifa were desperately reaching for each other in slow-mo. They even had the logo appear right after lol. I was actually surprised how importantly they framed it. That's when I thought they might be going Cloti way pretty strong, not that I'm complaining ;)

Cloud joined soldier because he wanted to impress Tifa. His meeting with Aerith was turning point because up until then he didn’t really care about the planet however in order to reach this point, he certainly had to join Soldier first. FFVII’s story is about human race coming to terms with the planet, creating consciousness, killing Sephiroth because he’s an asshole who doesn’t care about the planet (just like Cloud before meeting Aerith) in order to avoid mass extinction. Not some shallow romantic soap opera. Cloud’s relationship with Aerith and with Tifa are both important for character development, not because he’s desperately and madly in love with neither whose only purpose is to get the girl. That’s why the love triangle is real and up to debate still. What bothers me is the fact that people are so desperate to make it conclusive based on their own personal passions that they can’t even come to terms with the fact that Cloud’s affection for both women and viceversa are essential for the the story to develop.
I hope the remake will emphasize a bit Cloud's feelings and emotional responses. At least visually. In the original game i've always thought Cloud was acting more cold than shy to the ladies, and that make an odd romantic plot.
I always felt in the original that there was distance between Cloud and Tifa. I got the impression Tifa really liked Cloud but was too shy to ever really be honest about it. In their adulthood, I never got the impression that Cloud liked Tifa. It seemed like she was a comfort and friend to him but not a love interest. Even the trailer and what we see in the remake so far shows the same awkward distance. The flirtation between Cloud and Aeris however was so warm and obvious in the original. It will be interesting to see how the remake fleshes things out and what they will add or change.
I don’t get it that shippers say that Cloud can only date one person during his life and that’s it. I think he loved both. I think initially he dated Aerith and after her death, at the end of AC he moved on after deaths of his friends and started to date Tifa. Same with Aerith, she used to date Zack until he disappeared...In real life, we have multiple relationships and partners at different times of our lives...and not everyone ends up marrying and loving one person until end of life. Then again, it’s up to the player who chooses the partner for Cloud and everyone is free to interpret the story in their own way. I just don’t like how shippers fight between each other instead of discussing and approving that everyone has their own view of the story. Anyway I’m very excited for the remake and need to finish FF7 before release!
I don’t know about you, but I always favored Aerith. And the expanded universe kinda kills it, but the original game made it seem like Cloud super favored Aerith. Like originally Zach, in Aerith’s eyes just left and ghosted her. Having Cloud should be it’s own thing. I feel like the fan love for Tifa affected the storyline decisions and it was retconned from their original vision. Tifa could always tell Cloud likes Aerith more, and it showed in her actions before and after her death. It’s honestly what I’m scared of the most is the remake flubbing this. Tifa is shy but so supportive, Cloud’s loss of his first love allows he and Tifa to become a thing.
Actually, if you look at the trailers, they are pretty pro Aerith. Tifa doesn’t get as much screen time with him. They originally planned for their scene under the highwind to be way more revealing, but decided against it for ratings purposes. Or what they deemed, “too extreme”. From what I can tell, it’s still pretty heavily focused as a love triangle, which was their original intentions.
Ya weren’t they supposed to come out of the chocoholic stable in the high wind together. I love how they put that in there. I remember in my first playthru, my friend who was playing at the same time got ahead of me and was like “Tifa and Cloud bang!” And I got to that point and told him he’s crazy. Come to find out years later the script of that scene differs depending on your rating with Tifa. So awesome

Great video! Just a heads up. That is not the prison cell of ShinRa HQ. It is the room above Beginner's Hall across the street from the 7th Heaven bar. It is the same room Cloud hits his sword on in the door way and the same room Tifa and Cloud run out of when the watchers of fate are attacking Avalanche in the remake.
Appreciate it. I looked at side by side comparisons of the Shinra HQ and this scene and they look really close. Even the two being in the room alone together is oddly reminiscent. I’m never afraid to admit I’m wrong, so if this is really the case, then you’re right.

That awkward moment near the end of the game when Cloud rescues Tifa and then talks about meeting Aerith. It’s gonna be even more awkward in the Remake lol..
It's sad that the terrible OG mistranslations still permeate players to this day. He doesn't talk about meeting Aerith in the OG at the end. He says that he believes they can all meet those they lost in the Promised Land one day, and Tifa agrees. There is no mention of Aerith or the pronoun "her." The OG game had so many awful errors in English (source: native speaker).
@@jenniferchough He talks about Aerith as confirmed in Ultimania. The scene was retraslated in Remeniscence of FF and it was pretty much the same. I understand there is a lot of bad blood in the shipping war, but there is no need to lie.
I’m willing to bet that the devs will make choices to win affection between Tifa, Aerith and even Yuffie in the second installment on the remake series. I assume that the Gold Saucer will be around by then. I hope the devs still honor the original and allow a date with Barrett.

The reason why Im Team Tifa are because A. she covered for Cloud knowing that he had distorted memories. THAT is a true ride or die chick; She always had his back. B. Aeris or Aerith is just rebounding off of Zack, hence why I was never fond of it. C. Also, Tifa is less selfish than Aerith, for example if you dont get chosen as Corneo’s date if you tell aeris “we have to help tifa”, you lose points with her, whereas if you tell Tifa “we have to help aeris” you GAIN points with her, and lose points if you answer with “you alright?”. That says to me shes not insecure and a little more likeable.
I’m playing through the original again and I’ve just finished the temple of the ancients and my heart sank for two reasons - Cait Sith mk I’s passing and Tifa was in my party when CS gave the last fortune, I felt so bad for Tifa being in the room for that one.
Honestly I cant pick between them. What an incredible story this is!... I honestly feel that FF7 will become like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter in the realm of fantasy story telling as one of the all time classics.

Cloud being 5'7 (or 5'8, depending on the source material), and seeing most characters are wearing thick footwear, making sole height almost irrelevant. I prefer Zack and Aerith & Cloud and Tifa to be couples, but i have noticed something, at the time of Crisis Core, Cloud was a cheerful person until his village burn, he got a mental trauma when his best friend died (Zack), that's why in order to save himself from the severe mental depression, he copied what he sees in Zack, he didn't absorb Zack's memories using Jenova Cells, that would be dumb, he copied what he think Zack will be, in order to fill up his shoes and in order to be the living legacy that Zack wants Cloud to be. If you recall what you have learned in school, friends influence one another, thats what happened to Cloud. And that's why in the time of FF7, Cloud changed a lot, he is now a lot more serious and cool... because thats what he thinks Zack will be if he is still alive Now does Cloud love Tifa or Aerith? In the time of FF7 (main game), Cloud loves Aerith, not romantically, but emotionally, if you have played the Remake, in the time that the Avalanche was celebrating, Cloud was alone and sad, he was hurt because he didn't feel that he was a part of anything, until Aerith showed and support him all the way, Cloud appreciates it and they form a strong bond, until you know.... SPOILERS AHEAD Aerith died, Cloud got depressed again, and he wants to see Aerith in the promised land... So Cloud didn't love Tifa? No Tifa is Cloud's true love and same goes for Tifa, they don't know how to interact to each other because they are both shy to tell their feelings, not like Aerith. In Advent Children, Cloud felt like it was his fault for failing to save Aerith, that's why he wants to see and say sorry to her. Cloud was not in the mood for relationship in Advent Children, though he was living with Tifa, Cloud is a very serious but a happy person in AC since he was able to pull off a joke at that time, we don't know if they are a couple at that time since AC focuses on Sephiroth's return. In AC cloud was a Serious but Happy person, he already have friends and he is not alone anymore as he stated.*
I've always been team Tifa, but I've always loved the love triangle. Two unrelated things, if Cloud buys a flower in the cinematic will we finally get to see exactly what a gil looks like?! That, and now with the HD graphics I'm finally wondering if Cloud keeps his sword strapped to his back with that metal bit. I always just assumed he used magic, however maybe just a super powerful magnet???
I think Aerith was Cloud's first love and Tifa was, not his seccod choise, but his seccond chance (at love), just like Zack was Aerith's first love and Cloud her seccond chance. It's a shame to me that it is boiled down to just another shipping war as I think it has something very beautiful to say about how ones first love doesn't have to be the last, and how love can be real and sincere without lasting forever.
This is something I really look forward to. I never understand why some people get really bent out of shape in one way or another with the love triangle. If someone thinks the story clearly stated which of the 2 Cloud was more in love with then I think they missed the point. That said I'm really looking forward to them incorporating more Jessie into that mess.
i think we're going to see something there between cloud and jessie, and this is going to set tifa off (running away). i feel this will be a much deeper reveal than their previous conversations.
We, old fans, know that Cloud will come to care for both girls but *from these trailers alone* I feel it leans heavily pro-Tifa. I repeat, just based on trailers. Because, aside from the Wall Market scene which was just meant to showcase Aerith to audience and which had a surprised-looking Cloud, all Cloud & Aerith scenes have her being super clingy and grabbing him while Cloud keeps backing away and trying to pull away or free his hand; meanwhile all Cloud & Tifa scenes, aside from the 2 hand reachs, have Tifa distancing herself while Cloud is the one who tries to get closer and break the ice.
Aerith held onto him playfully (as did tifa) in the trailer once and offers a flower. That’s far from clingy. I’m confused as to how you see Cloud is trying to get closer to Tifa in the trailers? Wallmarket shows more than just Aerith’s outfit, it shows Cloud’s reaction to her outfit. Tifa will most likely get a similar trailer reveal for her dress.
@@vnssalsst1 Playfulness and clinginess are not mutually exclusive and clingy is not inherently bad but that's how she comes off in the trailer. We see her hanging onto his hand more than once while he tries to physically move away (I don't want to use the word 'recoil' because that sounds too negative, but it does look like it), as for the flower scene we see her literally block his path a couple of times even though he keeps moving around her to get on with his business and she keeps running after him and in the end gives him the flower. At the Wall Market we only see split second of a shocked-looking Cloud and the rest is showing off Aertih's dress to the audience, including the close-up look into the camera. I know we'll get Tifa's reveal as well, but that will be in the game, the same way there will be scenes where Cloud will warm up to Aerith, but that's why I mentioned I was only talking about the trailers, I'm not saying they define what will happen in the game itself. Now about Cloud and Tifa. In the bar scene we have Tifa taking the furthest seat from him and being pensive, looking in her glass while Cloud is the one looking at her, the one who tries to cross the bringe and starts the conversation and asks her about her worries. This is already a deeper and more intimate scene than all that they've shown of Cloud and Aerith. Then there's a scene in Cloud's bedroom where Tifa again puts the distance between them and doesn't look at him while he's staring intently at her and trying to catch her eye - based on dialogue it seems like another deep conversation. Then we have battle where he literally sends Aerith away and calls Tifa and moves physically closer to her - this isn't something to look deep into tbh, knowing the context and this being a battle, but again we're talking about trailers here and first looks for newcomers and that is how it looks on the surface, on paper. Not to mention the 2 times they're desperately reaching for each other's hands, one of those being framed by the epic music and followed by logo appearance a la Squall and Rinoa, and Cloud once more calling for Tifa. Sorry for rambling so much lol but I just want to repeat myself and say that this is *only based on trailers* and is not a reflection of what will happen in the game later on.
Nin A after all his relationship with Tifa is longer and has more depth to it..it’s not like Tifa is avoiding him, the reason is just I think the long time they’ve been apart... Also yeah, Cloud is definitely not interested when he first meets Aerith but she insists on it!
Nin A Oh I never said the two were the same I just don’t really see her actions as clingy when she’s trying to brighten someone’s day who looks obviously unhappy and in the other instance she’s scared and is seeking his help from the “ghosts” swarming her. I would hope Cloud reaches for Tifa’s hand in that scene as she’s in danger and about to fall and get really hurt! Cutting it there gave the trailer a nice dramatic touch. I loved the emphasis on the distance between Cloud and Tifa since it really shows how unsure/shy she is and also the real truth behind their friendship. The scenes with Aerith emphasized her friendly, flirty and honest personality nicely. I’m glad they’re really sticking to how these characters were portrayed in the OG. I’m excited to see how Aerith affects Cloud and really gets him out of his shell.

If a bunch of pixels and polygons back in 97 could make that scene such a lasting impression and still got people talking UNTIL NOW, imagine what it’s gonna be when it was done with all the glorious visual of modern day.
I think he will go off with Aerith cuz they seem to just have this chemistry and they seem so cute together and I think cloud loves Tifa in a sister way since she's always been there for him he thinks of her as a caring loving sister maybe that's just my opinion 😅
You know, I'm ashamed to admit this but I hadn't even considered how the newer better graphics would impact or could even potentially challenge our interpretations of some of these scenes and relationships of the characters through subtle facial expressions or slight tells through body language. The new war between team Aerith and team Tifa is going to rage much worse than before. The casualties will be enormous. Lol
But he does love Tifa. It may not always be in a romantic way all the time, but it’s a Love Triangle because there are feelings coming from and coming to cloud to/from the two girls. It’s not directly obvious all the time, but it’s there throughout the story in places.

I agree with what some people said on the other comments, maybe Jessie will be part of this love triangle on this first part o the game. We'll have to wait and see, but it seems so. I really like the relationship between Cloud and Tifa, specially on the book On the Way to a Smile, we can see Cloud has feelings for her but he's always struggling with the feelings for Aerith. Maybe Jessie will be on the way, too. That'd be interesting for this first part of the game, as we can't choose between Yuffie and Barret just yet for the Golden Saucer date. First time playing the game I got Aerith. Second time I got Tifa, this is when I found out about the date system. Then I got Yuffie on the third time playing, and finally the best date out there, Barret! LOL
I don't want to start a fight, but I'm honestly curious about what do you mean when you said in that you like their relationship in On the way to smile, because to me, what I have read of it, was proof of how poor their relationship is, Tifa doesn't understand Cloud, (yelling to him for drinking alone after visiting Aerith's grave, forcing herself into Cloud's idea of Aerith bringing Denzel to him) at one point she has to force herself to just talk to Cloud, because Marline noticed "Tifa and Cloud aren't getting along." :'D

I think the relationship between Cloud and Tifa is always like that, distant but strong, in a way. Deep, maybe. But distant, and sometimes/somehow close.
I personally saw it more like a mother and son relationship in the novels. Cloud is obviously struggling to understand both his place and his feelings, he's kind of like a teenager. He hides things from her because he's scared of her reaction. He have feeling for Tifa without a doubt, but he don't really understand their nature. Tifa sometimes loses patience over him, but she wants to help him, she encourages him, push him to find his way. Like a mother.

Yes, we have. It was a very minor one, but from the TGS gameplay demo where they revealed Classic mode for the game they also let us see Cloud setting up the bomb on the #1 Reactor and we could choose between a 20 minute or a 30 minute timer before the explosion. As I said, that is indeed a very minor thing, but it's obviously a little teaser of what they got planned for the rest of the game, much like the original.
Aerith is the new and the interesting one to date or to love. She's funny and cloud is cold, they complete each other. I don't care if Tifa is the end game or not, it doesn't matter when his heart sticks with other girl, he wanted to see Aerith in the lifestream. Why would he if he loves Tifa? Tifa is just his best friend or someone close to him because of their childhood relationship,not more. I support clerith 100% forever.
I've always seen cloud and Tifa as Harry Potter and Hermione, they're so close to each others and always together ,but each of them married another people.

I think we can definitely do it. We’ve already got under 3K subs to go and it’s not even the end of the month yet. I think if enough people get behind sharing this channel, and I keep making content, we can do it. Just gotta believe it can happen. I’m very goal oriented with this. It never occurred to me that they could expand on cloud's hallucinations beyond just seeing things related to sephiroth. What you said about the fireworks is a really cool idea. I assume they're expanding walmarket to have some kind of festival for Don Corneo's "choosing" of a bride but it could be in Cloud's head.
I really hope people know that the love triangle ended as soon as they all died except Tifa also cuz of clouds relationship with Tifa if u played the game...so

On the contrary, in FFVII Remake, the devs have put a lot of effort into minimizing the whole Love Triangle thing. They took out a lot of scenes that would give the player a seemingly pro-Aerith feel and also took some player choice away compared to the OG. With a lot of subtle as well as very in-your-face scenes/items, the devs are streamlining who they believe is the end goal (even though this is merely a minimal part of the game itself). And now, with the new Ultimania and novel about both Aerith and Tifa, it's very clear that Square Enix and Nojima (the writer of FFVII) wants to end this tired Love Triangle issue.
Given that Jessie’s character is definitely getting fleshed out (and her infatuation with Cloud is obvious in the original), maybe “love pyramid” is a more appropriate term than “love triangle,” at least for a good chunk of this episode.
Well, I thought about that, but it’s going to be so brief, that it’s likely not going to matter. The reason it’s a triangle is because of the two main girls. Jessie just doesn’t compare to Tifa and Aerith and that will still remain the same. Regardless of expansion.
I'm definitely CloudxNobody. He has strong feelings for Aerith, but that possibility leaves when she goes "full penetration" with Sephiroth. He completely friend zoned Tifa as an adult, just as he was always left out as a a child. And he remains oblivious, or at least unreceptive to Jessie, up until the point she meets her true "crush." So Cloud ends up romantically alone. As it should be and was always intended.
It's certainly not the main bar of 7th heaven, but I do think it's Sector 7. It seems odd to have a widescreen TV in a prison cell. I noticed that there's a gap at the bottom of the wall behind Tifa. This could be a redesign of the cell with a cubical surrounding the toilet.
I don’t see that happening. Aerith needs to die to make the Holy spell work, and the lifestream fight back against meteor. Her death is actually one of the most important moments of the game, even though it’s one of the saddest.

As I said before this game isn't my top favorite but when the remake hits it's definatly going to have more fighting power with the added content and texture. So many feels will be had. So many uproarious laugher moments. And so much adrenaline spent while sitting down. Lol I just hope it doesn't go the way of star wars and make us wait 5 or so years for each sequel to drop. Well I wondered that myself, but the setup of the room itself lines up really well. And if you look at the two rooms side by side comparatively, they look really similar. The floor even has the same line patterns.

I don't give a fuck about the Aerith Cloud connection because I believe it's a meaningless red herring brought on by the Ghost of Zack, it's Zack who likes Aerith, and Zack is what draws Aerith to Cloud. As soon as Cloud gets his memories in order he becomes noticeably more nerdy and he seems 100% interested in Tifa, she's literally his entire motivation prior to becoming Zack Cloud, and is his main interest as soon as he stops being Zack Cloud, so for me there really isn't any love triangle in the overall story, just a momentary diversion. That having been said, I HATE what the remake did to Tifa so even thought I've historically always been team Tifa during FFVII, I kinda prefer Aerith this time. But then again, I also REALLY prefer Zack over Cloud so.
The English version really distorts the love triangle. With fully fleshed voice acting and advanced animations, I'm really excited to see how this plays out. In the Japanese it is made very clear: Aerith loved Cloud as more than a friend Whereas Tifa doesn't want Cloud anymore as a friend, but is still sexually attracted to them (hence sex in the Northern Crator). Problem with Tifa too, is that I feel she took too long to make her move and Cloud is over her.

Aerith is the more forthcoming one, openly flirting with Cloud. Tifa is the shy one, hence often keeping her distance. Aerith is seemingly more confident vs Tifa is more unsure of herself. Their different personalities can also be reflected during the gold saucer date where Aerith says what's on her mind without much hesitation, despite the delicate topic ("Cloud, I'm searching for you"), whereas Tifa has trouble expressing herself (Cloud...? I... ... ..."). She even says: "Aerith would be able to just come out and say it probably..." so yeah.

FutureCloud I think that was more of a case of “paying” his men. In fact, when you meet him again, he had kidnapped Yuffie and Elien(sp?) and end up deciding to take both of them for himself.
That's one of my favorite parts of the new trailer. Aeriths and Tifas personalities. They seem very much intact from the original, where Aerith DGAF and Tifa being more shy and or distant. And it is crazy how well they came through in 97 to think how well it will be come march 2020.

Nice analysis, I’d spotted some of those interaction things in the trailers too (Tifa being a bit more reserved while Aerith is more openly flirty). One thing other people have said though, and I agree with on closer inspection - the scene with Tifa standing and Cloud on the bed is probably not the Shinra tower cell as we originally thought, but maybe just a room in 7th Heaven. The reason is the wooden floor and the tatty walls, which don’t look much like corporate Shinra. Shortly after that they show the scene of Cloud and Tifa coming out of the building with the Watchmen of Fate swirling round. While not everything is chronological in the trailers it looks like these scenes could be one after another.
I’m wrong about the order the scenes are shown in the trailer actually, but still think those two scenes could be sequential.
Well I looked at side by side screenshots, the areas are super similar. The bed is attached to the wall, the floor has the straight line separators between the planks, and the scene is almost reversed entirely. Tifa is the one standing and Cloud is the one on the bed. That’s why I think it’s the Shinra HQ
I believe Cloud and Aerith had instant chemistry and he felt deeply for her but I don’t know that it was love. Then again, I’m a die-hard Cloud and Tifa shipper, and I always play to boost Tifa’s affection rating because she was ALWAYS there for him and was trying to protect him the whole time.

I agree. I'm also biased cause I prefer Tifa x Cloud to Aerith x Cloud but I think both work. I've played various playthroughs boosting both but I prefer the Tifa route. Although even then I'm slightly biased cause my first playthrough I boosted tifa's relationship pretty much to the max without even realizing I was doing it. I just gravitated to her character more and I always related to cloud be introverted and socially awkward but hiding it by not speaking unless it means something or is important. So I know how much a character/ person like Cloud needs someone like Tifa who always has his back and has similar issues opening up to him so that she understands him and gets him to open up and be more social. Granted Aerith also gets him to open up but I always felt that she didn't understand as much or as right off the back as Tifa did. Part of that is probably cause of them being childhood friends (kinda).
Edit: Also I love the Zack and Aerith pairing so much more than her and Cloud. So I'm really biased. I do hope they keep the relationship system in place though just cause I feel like it was one of the best parts of the original and made replays so fun. I probably did 30 replays just to see the changes in the story and when I was messing around picking things at random I got the Barett date at the Golden Saucer and just about died laughing at how awkward it was.

Not at all. All she talked about with Cloud is if he had friends in SOLDIER and that she was in love with someone in SOLDIER. It's very apparent that she loves Zack and wants to be around Cloud because he reminds her of him in some way (Mako eyes, Buster Sword, SOLDIER status, etc). She even tells him (and herself) that it's not real. In the Remake, the devs have definitely made it very clear who Cloud's clear choice is and it's very mutual.

As a completely new player that never played the original game I can safely say it’s clear as day that the only couple being pushed in the Remake is Cloud and Aerith.
There’s a multitude of evidence throughout, with only 2 instances in the Remake where Cloud and Tifa could potentially be seen as romantic.

Cloud joined soldier because he wanted to impress Tifa. His meeting with Aerith was turning point because up until then he didn’t really care about the planet however in order to reach this point, he certainly had to join Soldier first. FFVII’s story is about human race coming to terms with the planet, creating consciousness, killing Sephiroth because he’s an asshole who doesn’t care about the planet (just like Cloud before meeting Aerith) in order to avoid mass extinction. Not some shallow romantic soap opera. Cloud’s relationship with Aerith and with Tifa are both important for character development, not because he’s desperately and madly in love with neither whose only purpose is to get the girl. That’s why the love triangle is real and up to debate still. What bothers me is the fact that people are so desperate to make it conclusive based on their own personal passions that they can’t even come to terms with the fact that Cloud’s affection for both women and viceversa are essential for the the story to develop.
I hope the remake will emphasize a bit Cloud's feelings and emotional responses. At least visually. In the original game i've always thought Cloud was acting more cold than shy to the ladies, and that make an odd romantic plot.

I always felt in the original that there was distance between Cloud and Tifa. I got the impression Tifa really liked Cloud but was too shy to ever really be honest about it. In their adulthood, I never got the impression that Cloud liked Tifa. It seemed like she was a comfort and friend to him but not a love interest. Even the trailer and what we see in the remake so far shows the same awkward distance. The flirtation between Cloud and Aeris however was so warm and obvious in the original. It will be interesting to see how the remake fleshes things out and what they will add or change.
I’m excited to see all of these little details and find what other people find in it as well.
I don’t get it that shippers say that Cloud can only date one person during his life and that’s it. I think he loved both. I think initially he dated Aerith and after her death, at the end of AC he moved on after deaths of his friends and started to date Tifa. Same with Aerith, she used to date Zack until he disappeared...In real life, we have multiple relationships and partners at different times of our lives...and not everyone ends up marrying and loving one person until end of life. Then again, it’s up to the player who chooses the partner for Cloud and everyone is free to interpret the story in their own way. I just don’t like how shippers fight between each other instead of discussing and approving that everyone has their own view of the story. Anyway I’m very excited for the remake and need to finish FF7 before release!

I don’t know about you, but I always favored Aerith. And the expanded universe kinda kills it, but the original game made it seem like Cloud super favored Aerith. Like originally Zach, in Aerith’s eyes just left and ghosted her. Having Cloud should be it’s own thing. I feel like the fan love for Tifa affected the storyline decisions and it was retconned from their original vision. Tifa could always tell Cloud likes Aerith more, and it showed in her actions before and after her death. It’s honestly what I’m scared of the most is the remake flubbing this. Tifa is shy but so supportive, Cloud’s loss of his first love allows he and Tifa to become a thing.
Actually, if you look at the trailers, they are pretty pro Aerith. Tifa doesn’t get as much screen time with him. They originally planned for their scene under the highwind to be way more revealing, but decided against it for ratings purposes. Or what they deemed, “too extreme”. From what I can tell, it’s still pretty heavily focused as a love triangle, which was their original intentions.
Ya weren’t they supposed to come out of the chocoholic stable in the high wind together. I love how they put that in there. I remember in my first playthru, my friend who was playing at the same time got ahead of me and was like “Tifa and Cloud bang!” And I got to that point and told him he’s crazy. Come to find out years later the script of that scene differs depending on your rating with Tifa. So awesome

Great video! Just a heads up. That is not the prison cell of ShinRa HQ. It is the room above Beginner's Hall across the street from the 7th Heaven bar. It is the same room Cloud hits his sword on in the door way and the same room Tifa and Cloud run out of when the watchers of fate are attacking Avalanche in the remake.

It's sad that the terrible OG mistranslations still permeate players to this day. He doesn't talk about meeting Aerith in the OG at the end. He says that he believes they can all meet those they lost in the Promised Land one day, and Tifa agrees. There is no mention of Aerith or the pronoun "her." The OG game had so many awful errors in English (source: native speaker).

The reason why Im Team Tifa are because A. she covered for Cloud knowing that he had distorted memories. THAT is a true ride or die chick; She always had his back. B. Aeris or Aerith is just rebounding off of Zack, hence why I was never fond of it. C. Also, Tifa is less selfish than Aerith, for example if you dont get chosen as Corneo’s date if you tell aeris “we have to help tifa”, you lose points with her, whereas if you tell Tifa “we have to help aeris” you GAIN points with her, and lose points if you answer with “you alright?”. That says to me shes not insecure and a little more likeable.

: Makes me wonder, are the girls (and Miss Cloud) really that short? Cloud being 5'7 (or 5'8, depending on the source material), and seeing most characters are wearing thick footwear, making sole height almost irrelevant.
Pointers:
(1) The size of one's "cannons" does not make one more confident.
(2) Wearing a long dress does not make one less flirtatious.
(3) For a guy, Cloud is pretty.

I prefer Zack and Aerith & Cloud and Tifa to be couples, but i have noticed something, at the time of Crisis Core, Cloud was a cheerful person until his village burn, he got a mental trauma when his best friend died (Zack), that's why in order to save himself from the severe mental depression, he copied what he sees in Zack, he didn't absorb Zack's memories using Jenova Cells, that would be dumb, he copied what he think Zack will be, in order to fill up his shoes and in order to be the living legacy that Zack wants Cloud to be.
If you recall what you have learned in school, friends influence one another, thats what happened to Cloud.
And that's why in the time of FF7, Cloud changed a lot, he is now a lot more serious and cool... because thats what he thinks Zack will be if he is still alive

No Tifa is Cloud's true love and same goes for Tifa, they don't know how to interact to each other because they are both shy to tell their feelings, not like Aerith.
In Advent Children, Cloud felt like it was his fault for failing to save Aerith, that's why he wants to see and say sorry to her. Cloud was not in the mood for relationship in Advent Children, though he was living with Tifa, Cloud is a very serious but a happy person in AC since he was able to pull off a joke at that time, we don't know if they are a couple at that time since AC focuses on Sephiroth's return.

I've always been team Tifa, but I've always loved the love triangle. Two unrelated things, if Cloud buys a flower in the cinematic will we finally get to see exactly what a gil looks like?! I think Aerith was Cloud's first love and Tifa was, not his seccod choise, but his seccond chance (at love), just like Zack was Aerith's first love and Cloud her seccond chance.
It's a shame to me that it is boiled down to just another shipping war as I think it has something very beautiful to say about how ones first love doesn't have to be the last, and how love can be real and sincere without lasting forever.
This is something I really look forward to. I never understand why some people get really bent out of shape in one way or another with the love triangle. If someone thinks the story clearly stated which of the 2 Cloud was more in love with then I think they missed the point. That said I'm really looking forward to them incorporating more Jessie into that mess.

We, old fans, know that Cloud will come to care for both girls but *from these trailers alone* I feel it leans heavily pro-Tifa. I repeat, just based on trailers. Because, aside from the Wall Market scene which was just meant to showcase Aerith to audience and which had a surprised-looking Cloud, all Cloud & Aerith scenes have her being super clingy and grabbing him while Cloud keeps backing away and trying to pull away or free his hand; meanwhile all Cloud & Tifa scenes, aside from the 2 hand reachs, have Tifa distancing herself while Cloud is the one who tries to get closer and break the ice.

Aerith held onto him playfully (as did tifa) in the trailer once and offers a flower. That’s far from clingy. I’m confused as to how you see Cloud is trying to get closer to Tifa in the trailers? Wallmarket shows more than just Aerith’s outfit, it shows Cloud’s reaction to her outfit. Tifa will most likely get a similar trailer reveal for her dress.
@@vnssalsst1 Playfulness and clinginess are not mutually exclusive and clingy is not inherently bad but that's how she comes off in the trailer. We see her hanging onto his hand more than once while he tries to physically move away (I don't want to use the word 'recoil' because that sounds too negative, but it does look like it), as for the flower scene we see her literally block his path a couple of times even though he keeps moving around her to get on with his business and she keeps running after him and in the end gives him the flower. At the Wall Market we only see split second of a shocked-looking Cloud and the rest is showing off Aertih's dress to the audience, including the close-up look into the camera. I know we'll get Tifa's reveal as well, but that will be in the game, the same way there will be scenes where Cloud will warm up to Aerith, but that's why I mentioned I was only talking about the trailers, I'm not saying they define what will happen in the game itself.
Now about Cloud and Tifa. In the bar scene we have Tifa taking the furthest seat from him and being pensive, looking in her glass while Cloud is the one looking at her, the one who tries to cross the bringe and starts the conversation and asks her about her worries. This is already a deeper and more intimate scene than all that they've shown of Cloud and Aerith. Then there's a scene in Cloud's bedroom where Tifa again puts the distance between them and doesn't look at him while he's staring intently at her and trying to catch her eye - based on dialogue it seems like another deep conversation. Then we have battle where he literally sends Aerith away and calls Tifa and moves physically closer to her - this isn't something to look deep into tbh, knowing the context and this being a battle, but again we're talking about trailers here and first looks for newcomers and that is how it looks on the surface, on paper. Not to mention the 2 times they're desperately reaching for each other's hands, one of those being framed by the epic music and followed by logo appearance a la Squall and Rinoa, and Cloud once more calling for Tifa.
Sorry for rambling so much lol but I just want to repeat myself and say that this is *only based on trailers* and is not a reflection of what will happen in the game later on.

Also yeah, Cloud is definitely not interested when he first meets Aerith but she insists on it!
Nin A Oh I never said the two were the same I just don’t really see her actions as clingy when she’s trying to brighten someone’s day who looks obviously unhappy and in the other instance she’s scared and is seeking his help from the “ghosts” swarming her. I would hope Cloud reaches for Tifa’s hand in that scene as she’s in danger and about to fall and get really hurt! Cutting it there gave the trailer a nice dramatic touch.
I loved the emphasis on the distance between Cloud and Tifa since it really shows how unsure/shy she is and also the real truth behind their friendship. The scenes with Aerith emphasized her friendly, flirty and honest personality nicely. I’m glad they’re really sticking to how these characters were portrayed in the OG. I’m excited to see how Aerith affects Cloud and really gets him out of his shell.

But he does love Tifa. It may not always be in a romantic way all the time, but it’s a Love Triangle because there are feelings coming from and coming to cloud to/from the two girls. It’s not directly obvious all the time, but it’s there throughout the story in places.

I really like the relationship between Cloud and Tifa, specially on the book On the Way to a Smile, we can see Cloud has feelings for her but he's always struggling with the feelings for Aerith.
Maybe Jessie will be on the way, too. That'd be interesting for this first part of the game, as we can't choose between Yuffie and Barret just yet for the Golden Saucer date.
First time playing the game I got Aerith.
Second time I got Tifa, this is when I found out about the date system. Then I got Yuffie on the third time playing, and finally the best date out there, Barret! LOL
I don't want to start a fight, but I'm honestly curious about what do you mean when you said in that you like their relationship in On the way to smile, because to me, what I have read of it, was proof of how poor their relationship is, Tifa doesn't understand Cloud, (yelling to him for drinking alone after visiting Aerith's grave, forcing herself into Cloud's idea of Aerith bringing Denzel to him) at one point she has to force herself to just talk to Cloud, because Marline noticed "Tifa and Cloud aren't getting along." :'D

I think the relationship between Cloud and Tifa is always like that, distant but strong, in a way. Deep, maybe. But distant, and sometimes/somehow close.
I personally saw it more like a mother and son relationship in the novels.
Cloud is obviously struggling to understand both his place and his feelings, he's kind of like a teenager. He hides things from her because he's scared of her reaction.
He have feeling for Tifa without a doubt, but he don't really understand their nature.
Tifa sometimes loses patience over him, but she wants to help him, she encourages him, push him to find his way. Like a mother.

Well Nomura confirmed a few months back that the game would feature branching dialogue but wasn’t clear if they were options or situational.

It was a very minor one, but from the TGS gameplay demo where they revealed Classic mode for the game they also let us see Cloud setting up the bomb on the #1 Reactor and we could choose between a 20 minute or a 30 minute timer before the explosion.
As I said, that is indeed a very minor thing, but it's obviously a little teaser of what they got planned for the rest of the game, much like the original.

It never occurred to me that they could expand on cloud's hallucinations beyond just seeing things related to sephiroth. What you said about the fireworks is a really cool idea. I assume they're expanding walmarket to have some kind of festival for Don Corneo's "choosing" of a bride but it could be in Cloud's head.

"Love Triangle Returns"

On the contrary, in FFVII Remake, the devs have put a lot of effort into minimizing the whole Love Triangle thing. They took out a lot of scenes that would give the player a seemingly pro-Aerith feel and also took some player choice away compared to the OG. With a lot of subtle as well as very in-your-face scenes/items, the devs are streamlining who they believe is the end goal (even though this is merely a minimal part of the game itself). And now, with the new Ultimania and novel about both Aerith and Tifa, it's very clear that Square Enix and Nojima (the writer of FFVII) wants to end this tired Love Triangle issue.

Given that Jessie’s character is definitely getting fleshed out (and her infatuation with Cloud is obvious in the original), maybe “love pyramid” is a more appropriate term than “love triangle,” at least for a good chunk of this episode.

Well, I thought about that, but it’s going to be so brief, that it’s likely not going to matter. The reason it’s a triangle is because of the two main girls. Jessie just doesn’t compare to Tifa and Aerith and that will still remain the same. Regardless of expansion.
I'm definitely CloudxNobody. He has strong feelings for Aerith, but that possibility leaves when she goes "full penetration" with Sephiroth. He completely friend zoned Tifa as an adult, just as he was always left out as a a child. And he remains oblivious, or at least unreceptive to Jessie, up until the point she meets her true "crush." So Cloud ends up romantically alone. As it should be and was always intended.

It's certainly not the main bar of 7th heaven, but I do think it's Sector 7. It seems odd to have a widescreen TV in a prison cell. I noticed that there's a gap at the bottom of the wall behind Tifa. This could be a redesign of the cell with a cubical surrounding the toilet.

I don’t see that happening. Aerith needs to die to make the Holy spell work, and the lifestream fight back against meteor. Her death is actually one of the most important moments of the game, even though it’s one of the saddest.

Team Tifa all the way! But I do hope we get to see some of those back and forth moments with Aerith and Tifa. As I said before this game isn't my top favorite but when the remake hits it's definatly going to have more fighting power with the added content and texture. So many feels will be had. So many uproarious laugher moments. And so much adrenaline spent while sitting down. Lol I just hope it doesn't go the way of star wars and make us wait 5 or so years for each sequel to drop.
Hope we get more trailers in the future to keep the hype train rolling. Maybe get a glimpse of Rufus finally since we got to see the Turks.

Well I wondered that myself, but the setup of the room itself lines up really well. And if you look at the two rooms side by side comparatively, they look really similar. The floor even has the same line patterns.
All the floors in Shinra HQ are either metal or stone.. And yhe cell wouldnt have a flat screen TV

I don't give a fuck about the Aerith Cloud connection because I believe it's a meaningless red herring brought on by the Ghost of Zack, it's Zack who likes Aerith, and Zack is what draws Aerith to Cloud. As soon as Cloud gets his memories in order he becomes noticeably more nerdy and he seems 100% interested in Tifa, she's literally his entire motivation prior to becoming Zack Cloud, and is his main interest as soon as he stops being Zack Cloud, so for me there really isn't any love triangle in the overall story, just a momentary diversion.
That having been said, I HATE what the remake did to Tifa so even thought I've historically always been team Tifa during FFVII, I kinda prefer Aerith this time.
But then again, I also REALLY prefer Zack over Cloud so.

The English version really distorts the love triangle.
With fully fleshed voice acting and advanced animations, I'm really excited to see how this plays out.
In the Japanese it is made very clear:
Aerith loved Cloud as more than a friend
Whereas Tifa doesn't want Cloud anymore as a friend, but is still sexually attracted to them (hence sex in the Northern Crator).
Problem with Tifa too, is that I feel she took too long to make her move and Cloud is over her.
