she must have been abandoned by someone. she looks clean and well fed. and is attached to kind humans, so she must have had a home in the past. So happy she's got a new home now. Happy days ahead.

Someone dumped my current cat in my apartment complex (confirmed by following up on his rabies tag) and he hid under my car. I managed to gain his trust and pet him some before grabbing him and hauling him up to my apartment. Well, after determining no one was looking for him, he's been mine for 7 years. He is absolutely the sweetest and gentlest cat, and he thanks me with nose kisses and headbutts when I tell him it's time to eat. He fell asleep on my lap the night I found him (surprising, in hindsight, because he's NOT a lap cat). I don't abandon family, and took him with me on my cross-country move.

Unfortunately, if it's an apartment complex, she was probably someone's pet and they moved out and left her. I am so happy that you won the kitty lottery, and she chose you. It's not that she did not want to come home with you, it's just that your stairs were not the stairs she knew to her old home. Once she figured it out that you were taking her to your home, she happily followed. Good luck and I wish you many happy years together. 😊😺🏠

@@HPFan4Life81 I did not say it was. I said probably. For your information, I have had cats that hated using the litter box because we had multi-cats. They did not like sharing. They just meowed at the backdoor when they wanted out.

One would have to be inhuman to say no to a cat that wants to be adopted this much! One look and I would be hers, and she mine! Cats used to come into my life this way, but it was heartbreaking to see so many helpless starving ones who needed homes then. The culture where I live has changed so much since my youth because more people realized what precious treasures cats are. People have to compete to adopt a cat from our local no-kill shelters nowadays! This is as it should be, having a cat in one’s home is a priceless gift.

There's something so special about bringing home a stray cat. I've had one cat from the pound, 2 strays, one that I received from a co-worker looking for a home for stray kitties, and currently have 2 adopted cats from shelters, as well as a shelter dog. It's wonderful to share your life and home with a sweet and beautiful animal.

Awwwww it's called kismet , it's a nice feeling to have a cat pick you out and come running, happened to me , I used to walk home at night and saw the same kitten and she got used to me stroking her , eventually she followed me , I made a box to go outside for her and she would use it , eventually she came in and that was that , she was my cat , sadly I only got about 10 years with her , she got thyroid issues then kidney issues , tearing up thinking back , its been 25 years and I remember it yesterday.
You will have the best times with your new cat , because she chose you , and you chose to help her , its an amazing bond.
