I teared up thinking about how thankful that previous owner would've been knowing their baby was well taken care of after they passed away. I hope this lady has many more happy years with Beanie.
I have just adopted a 17 year old little black and white girl. Her owner was dying of cancer and wanted to make sure she wasn’t put to sleep when he died. He contacted a local cat rescue which he knew would keep her and possibly find her a home. It’s been 3 months now and she is a very tiny sweet little cat who you can tell has always been loved! She has settled well although there has been a few toileting problems which we are sorting out together. He died a week after she went to the rescue so I can’t tell him she’s safe and happy.
As a senior human, this story warms my heart. Beans has found a wonderful loving home where she can rest & relax in her senior years. It's all any of us could want.
I just adopted off the street. I have a camera out front I call the critter cam. I leave some dry food and water out to see what shows up. it could be anything in Florida. one night a sack of bones with his fur falling out showed up, dumped and left to die, it broke my heart. he was frightened and obviously abused but after a couple weeks his heart opened up to us. that was two months ago and he's a wonderful old man who talks to us constantly and loves to be loved. he's still recovering but improving all the time. he's a fixer upper.♥
I think we are all fixer uppers but they are magical and they’re way above us in vibration You’re a great being and that’s the way ‘home’ caring for others Much love 💕
What a sweetie. 🥰A vet I knew in Illinois took in a gorgeous Russian Blue whose owners thought that 12 years was long enough and wanted her put down. Well, that did not happen. The vet adopted her. When I met this cat, she was 24....and still functioning under her own power.
I can't imagine anything more heartless than bringing in your pet and deciding it's lived long enough. I hope the horrible people who did that get their just karma in life. Thank God, she went on to have a beautiful life.
It was december. I met a girl that just found a cat in the snow, very hungry and slim, purring, searching for help and affection. The girl couldn't take her, so I took her to the vet and of course called the local shelter and police station, asking if anyone missed her. No one did, so I kept her. The vet told me, she was at least 15 years old (I had her checked very thoroughly). She needed heart medication and other medical treatments. She lived 7 years with me till she passed away. Very often, she just lay on my lap, purring. Brings me to tears writing and remembering...
I'm sorry...I know how hard it is to lose them when you've had them for so long but, they left this world knowing warmth and love and that's all that really matters.
When I think of senior animals who have had one home their entire life, where they were obviously very loved, then their owner passes away and to end up in a shelter. It breaks my heart. I am so happy to see stories like these. Thank you for sharing!
My heart aches when I think about how they feel and what they think in that situation! How confused they are… just awful! Sometimes I get very frustrated that I don’t have the funds to adopt a whole bunch of animals in need .. I already have rehabbed a squirrel! He just passed away last year 💔 7 years with our little Squee Squee! 💜💜💜 now I have two cats and 3 fish and my mom has a dog ! It’s a lot to just feed them !
@@melissasabie722 I hear you on wanting to save them all. But it sounds like you are doing an amazing job with all the pets you have (and your mum and her dog!). I have two 17 year old cats. One of them is diabetic, blind in one eye and hard of hearing, but as far as he knows, he is perfect! I am allowed 2 pets only where I live. Sometimes I think it’s a good thing I can have only 2 pets or this place might be a zoo! Condolences on the passing of your Squee Squee, seven years sounds quite impressive! Also the name Squee Squee for a squirrel is pretty awesome!
I'm so happy there are people who purposefully adopt older animals like this lovely lady. There are advantages and these people are desperately needed I'm told.
You’re a hero for adopting a 14 yo kitty. The hardest part is losing an animal you’ve come to love. This makes you a hero. I wish you many more beautiful years together. ❤❤
I love that this woman appreciated the senior Kitty. I've raised many cats to the end of their days and they definitely get better with age. Today is one of my cats nineteenth birthday. Her brother passed away last year and we miss him dearly. God bless those who love and care.
I once took in a battered stray I found out in the snow. He had one night and one day of warmth and comfort and he was such a good boy and so grateful. The shelter didn't even put him in a cage. He was so riddled with tumors, they put him down at intake. But he didn't die alone in the snow. People might say, what's the point of taking in an old or sick animal? But it's one of the best things I ever did in my life.
She is beautiful , looks very young .....and I am so glad she found a great home. I adopted a 17 year old cat and it was the best thing I ever did. She sat in a shelter for 4 months, no one wanted her, I took her home and she was the best cat I ever had ! She lived to a long, healthy 24 years old and only got sick at the very end. RIP, Deja. We love you.
Thank you for seeing her, giving her a home and loving her. Same thing happened to my Athena. 12yrs old and at a rescue. Saw her picture and adopted her a few days later. She was there for 6 months without anyone wanting her. We've been together for 1 1/2yrs now and so happy we found each other
She's absolutely beautiful and so are you to offer her a loving retirement home! Every cat AND every animal deserves a beautiful human to love them! The latter will be rewarded ten fold! ❤️ 🙏
Awwww, such a sweet old girl. How wonderful you two found each other! Both of you filled with love & caring for each other. Another happy ending. TY for sharing your story with us. ❤🐱❤️☺️
How wonderful of you to adopt an "old" cat. She is a beauty and so affectionate. I am happy that she brings so much to you and really supports you. To me, this is a case of who rescued who? Her unwavering love is something to be treasured.
I had a similar situation. I was volunteering at a shelter after my furbie of 23 years died. There was this cat that spent all it's time in the rafters. One day he came down and looked at me while sitting on the top shelf in one of the sleeping rooms. Something just clicked. At first he kept to the top of cabinets and the highest shelves. Slowly that changed. We were together for 10 years until he had to go to sleep. He was a wonderful snuggler and talker.
I have a 23 y/o pure black cat named, Handsome. He sleeps on my face at night for an hour, then wants to go outside to hunt the rest of the night. He's a very good ratter! He's still sharp as a tack!
I love how Beanie struggles to jump up on the couch, but her mom finds her on the countertop stealing butter. 😻 She’s beautiful, and her squeaky meows are so sweet. Beanie is the best part of today ❤
What a sweet cat. I adopted a senior cat and although she only lived two months, I know I gave her the best two months. I miss her terribly❤. RIP Pokie🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
We adopted an really old cat as she was small 6 lbs and found out she was 18. We knew we wouldn't have her long. She became more and more disabled. We had her for 11 months and had to put her to sleep. Congratulations to you for being human. We miss our friend.
I thank all who took part (including vets) who took part in this rescue of this nice older cat. She will be very loving, probably a very good lap cat, and will give in return lots of love. Thank you for adopting this wonderful cat.

I too have adopted a Furry Feline Senior who was in basically the same situation - my Ruby was in a shelter for 4 - 5 months as the previous owner had presumably passed - the podgy senior was overlooked as people wanted the Kittens - of course the Kittens are cute, however I work full time and needed a cat who was content with his / her own company during the working day - Ruby came home with me on Friday 7th July 2023 and on the Sunday night she put her head into the crook of my arm and sobbed in a cat like manner - her sobbing was a thick deep purr as if to say thank you for giving me a home - she settled into the home routine a lot sooner than expected and it's like she has been with me from a young age. Ruby will be with me for the term of her natural life.
