Thanks for what you do brother. Dale
Serious fanboy in the house!! Seriously though, 1/4” draw length adjustments are not available on mods that are very inaccurate resulting in a collection of $80 mods on your bench. Secondly, holding weight should be adjustable on the mod rather than mod specific, also resulting in a bigger collection of $80 mods. All bows feel different and Mathews mod system makes finding that sweet spot very difficult and expensive. Hoyt’s 1” draw length range on a mod with 1/4” adjustments is better. I assume Mathews didn’t do something similar because their current mods fit on all bows.
Not to mention that they removed the 34.75" Atlas that was designed to long draws up to 34" and replaced it with the Lift 33 XD, which with 2" less axle to axle will have terrible string angles to anyone above 30" DL...
Also he gave same speed rating on rx9 as the lift 29. The 29 shot 333. 15fps short. The rx9 shot 339 3 fps short. I guess I’m not sure I understand your test process.
The Lift and Lift X are the first Mathews that I have had serious consideration in. I am a Bowtech guy and Mathews isn't even the #2 brand for me, but the Lift platform is very impressive. As much as I would like to try the X, I believe this is a platform they will continue to build upon for a few more years, so they will only get better. The optimist in me is waiting for a Lift 35 with at least a timing adjustment feature added in. If that ends up happening, it would be a near guarantee that I would buy my first Mathews.
In your tests the Darton was the quietest bow I'm pretty sure, not Mathews. Darton was 75db I believe and Mathews 79db. Question, considering a Darton I currently shoot 60 pounds but would like to move up to 65 pounds, If I shoot a 70 pound bow at 65 pounds, Is there a downside in terms of vibration noise or cam rollover? I’ve always been told that you should shoot a bow at its highest maximum draw weight. Does that hold true with today’s new flagship bows?

Great review. I was thinking this may be the year I upgraded, but the more I thought about it, the more I'll probably wait. I actually wish Matthews developed a timing adjuster and waited on the cam timing instead of the opposite. If my bow has bad timing, it shoots like garbage and I have only one option - go to the shop/buy a press and then it still isn't perfectly timed as it seems I always need a 1/4 twist. For cam adjustment, I always have the option to move the rest/loop. Sure, you lose efficiency and it isn't the best option, but it is an option that will result in bullet holes and good flying broadheads. It seems like the industry norm will be adjustment of the cam and timing off press for at least flagship bows in the very near future and if you don't buy bows often it's likely worth the wait if I want a Matthews or buy the Darton.

Without trying to sell stuff? You’ve got to be kidding me right? That’s the whole reason for a Youtibe channel is to drive traffic to the website and even more so, to Mathews so they can take him on another free hunt
You may have answered this in a previous video but I can't recall but... Are there any special adaptors required to press the lift series of bows in the LCA EZ presses? With those limbs being so far past parallel, it makes me wonder. I'm still shooting the Halon 32 but after this drop, I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade.
Lovely looking bow. If I could only choose one feature I think I still prefer Hoyts 1/4” adjustable draw and let off module over this limb tuning system. I own a press, so switching a spacer isn’t a big deal and it won’t move like a screw or bolt can over time.
It would seem to me that in measuring the "load out" point, you would ignore the cam and just look st the string position. At what point does the string hit its maximum spread (distance) at the cams before it changes direction? In effect, you're then looking at a string triangle. For this bow that would seem to be at least an inch more than you are measuring.
I believe paper tune first from initial setup (new rest, loop). If tears are big, swap top hats first to get a bullet hole. If you have a bullet hole with a very small tear, then micro adjust using the new tuning feature on the limbs. Then you broadhead tune. Move your rest to get your Broadhead to follow your field point. These adjustments should be very small/micro adjustments. Good luck! 🤙🏽
Question, I see tophats are still on the inside of these cams-- Does it require tophat adjustments if cam lean cannot be taken out with the new tuning system? I'd assume yes, but figured I'd ask to anyone who knows better.
My understanding is there are no tophats. The cam is fixed to one limb and adjustable distance to the other. This system seems to have an advantage of some of the others as it can travel farther not requiring tophats or shims at all. No reason to press it for cam adjustments. Unfortunately you still need to press it for timing, so I'm not sure it's that great of an advantage.
I would love to see a comparison of flagship bows from a decade ago... compared to 2024/5 bows. Im from Aus, (getting left hand flagship is near impossible to try before you buy. But i purchased a 2012 Bear Anarchy 35 ata that cost me $1200 kitted out back then. Owned a couple of other brands and now my pick of the newer is the old V3x 33. Which cost me 4k kitted out... Ive tried emailing Bear to find me some new limbs shipped here for a decent price as its the best bow ive had that just seemed to work for me. Id be shooting it still but Bear never got back to me. If anyone can help me getting it sorted id much appreciate it. What im also trying to say is ignore every bit of maketing, try everything before you commit. The Anarchy is all over the V3X for me in alot of ways, it just worked
He is in love😂 more features than Hoyt ? Didn’t Hoyt sticks and mounting system come out before Mathew’s integrated sight , and Hoyt side bar system is way better.. confused on he’s point there
I will say the lift looks WAYYY better than the hoyt aluminum the last 2 years.. Then vtm looked good and they totally lost me with the riser of the alpha..
@@nickdumas7873 If you believe in having everything “in line” Mathews definitely owns that game. There may not be a big difference between a bridgelock mount and a pic mount but the bridgelock stabilizers is a huge win for Mathews when it comes to integration vs Hoyt. I personally don’t think it makes a difference (and you’re paying a premium for that technology) but if you’re too lazy to unscrew your stabs vs sliding them back when putting them in your bow case, then that’s an advantage. I really wish Hoyt came out with some tunability options this year. I was 100% going to buy a Hoyt this year if they came out with that tech, but it looks like I’m waiting until 2026.
I love innovation, but I think there is a hidden self-destruct button built into allowing the general public to tune their bows. Not intended for the choir, there is a lot more to tuning than moving a cam. Also, I am a fan of what you do on the top you should do to the bottom. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can only think of 2 companies that have an upper and lower adjustment.
I noticed last year on the Lift 33 video review you measured the reflex and said it was 1 and a half inches. I went back and watched to be sure. This year on the Lift X 33 you measured reflex and said it is an inch and 3/4. Are they truly different on the 33 from last year to this year or was there a mis measurement last year or this year.
Unfortunately your Mathews review cannot be trusted. Your comments a few weeks ago regarding the limb issue still annoys me, your stated that there was not an issue above the normal warranty percentages when almost the next day Mathews dropped their statement. I’d rather watch someone like Steven hann from archery supplies. At least he gives an honest review knowing full well that it might hinder his contract with each manufacturer.
I have my local pro shop that is amazing. The only problem is the local shop that sells Hoyt, Matthews, and Bowtech is not that shop. They are the arrogant shop that refuse to do things like soft knots because “it will cause nock pinch so we don’t do it”. Spent around $3,500 there and salesman doesn’t even get off his ass to help me when I go in to get a quiver. I have to find it on my own and go the register and he just says “what’s up dude”
Good review. You should create a master google spreadsheet with all the bows/specs/ratings like the Lusk broadhead guy does. That way, we can weigh the criteria how we want, and you can update your ratings in a centralized location.
Hoyt, Bowtech and PSE would get a lot of hate too if they were at the top, but they are not.😂 Everyone is a favorite bow, just go shoot it and have fun!
Bowtech - Mathews is like Samsung - Apple. Samsung innovates new tech and brings it to market, Apple copies it a year+ later and all of a sudden its the best.
Sweet. I just got the lift 29 3 months ago. Should have waited. lol. Want to work towards doing all my own bow tuning. I’ll have to just get a press someday. Maybe. The wife would kill me if I tried to upgrade to the new lift X. I’m really happy with my 2024 lift.
I have one request if possible. When Josh says he has 300 bows on order I wonder how many are left handed. Could that be part of the review? Thank you.
Problem with just giving a rating on overall speed and overall weight is this test will always favor a short ata bow because it’s easier to make them lighter and easier to make them faster. Same bows in different ata the short one always will get a higher number.
I get 332.2 using the six numbers he showed. It looks like he does these in his head by using the top chrono and dropping the fastest and slowest and using the bottom to confirm it's about the same. I agree if you are going to state an average speed it should be the mathematical average speed. Same with weight, weigh it out of the box and go with that.
I believe the evaluation is spot on. Matthews won me as a fan when they had minor limb issues last year and backed the bows with a life time transferable warranty.
When you were so critical of tuning systems on the early bow reviews this year, I knew Mathews had fix their top hats. You’ve always voiced it but the really low scores gave it away.
I have the same question…what changed between the 2024 Lift 33 and 2025 Lift X 33 to go from last years speed test with a 450g arrow from 291 average to 297 fps?
The Matthews fanboy is strong with this one. Still need a bow press for timing, and durability in field is an open question. Otherwise it’s just grips and fixing limbs that exploded last year. Significantly (5+) slower than Hoyt ultra, and harder draw. Meh.

Why didn’t you hoot the other bows at 80%??
So I might be confused about the Mods if I have a LIFT 33 does that mean I can use the XD mods on my current lift to get a more draw length?
It would seem to me that in measuring the "load out" point, you would ignore the cam and just look st the string position. At what point does the string hit its maximum spread (distance) at the cams before it changes direction? In effect, you're then looking at a string triangle. For this bow that would seem to be at least an inch more than you are measuring.
I personally have the lift 29.5 do you think its worth the upgrade to do it all over again or wait till next years release?
Please do a video showing how to tune a field point and broadhead at the range using this bow.
Good luck! 🤙🏽
It's the same steps as with any other bow.
How are you changing string and cables with the "slaved" cam to limb?
You'd have to pull the axle like last year.
Must have missed the draw length portion of the video.
Love his Mathews math
One thing too, with the SAS it is trully the only bow that you don't need a bow press. That s awesome IMO
no, it's not. APA did it first, like 15 years ago lol
@gageb03 Yes you're right, APA also does it. I'll give it to you.
Won’t they add a cam sync next year to keep up with competitors?
Have you ever tested the sound difference between the different weights of arrows
Will there be a retro fit option for those who just bought a new lift?
Are parts cross compatible to an extent?
i have a phase 4 , 60 lb , did i understand you , i can order up a 55 lb mod that now fits my bow
He is in love😂 more features than Hoyt ? Didn’t Hoyt sticks and mounting system come out before Mathew’s integrated sight , and Hoyt side bar system is way better.. confused on he’s point there
Probably Mathews having the shot technology thing in the grip, the tuning capability, about the only thing they have over Hoyt
I hear ya, but he said integrations, which Hoyt has had before mathews, they both are great bows .
AS has also his own set of biases, but is fun having different view points...
then why are you still here? unsub and never turn back
@ he does review other manufacturers, not just mathews
@@theweekendarcher2056 Indeed but if he cant be trusted on one review then why would you trust him on any review?
@ he pushes Mathews more than most as I could
Only assume their would be repercussions for his business if otherwise.
Has anyone tested which way the bow spins the arrow naturally? Does it differ for a lefty?
Did I miss it or did he not verify draw length?
What rest are you using?
Draw length measurement??
Hoyt, Bowtech and PSE would get a lot of hate too if they were at the top, but they are not.😂 Everyone is a favorite bow, just go shoot it and have fun!
Bowtech - Mathews is like Samsung - Apple. Samsung innovates new tech and brings it to market, Apple copies it a year+ later and all of a sudden its the best.
Apple make it work properly though, so great point.
My local shop had Hoyt outsell Mathews 4:1 last year. I guess it is regional what the preferences are.
So does this year's Lift come with self-destructing limbs too or is that an option at extra cost.
Where did Mathews hurt you? LOL
@joshfredrickson6224 in the limb, twice since buying my Lift 33 this past summer.
@@scottdavis2133 I've had my lift 33 since Thanksgiving of 2023, not a single issue. They had a short stint of issues that have since been resolved.
I thank you for the review and your time in filming and editing. Well done and thought out.
Sweet. I just got the lift 29 3 months ago. Should have waited. lol. Want to work towards doing all my own bow tuning. I’ll have to just get a press someday. Maybe. The wife would kill me if I tried to upgrade to the new lift X. I’m really happy with my 2024 lift.
😂😂 that happened to me last year after I bought a pse. 4 months later the lift and Hoyt’s came out. Tested them and wished I would have waited
I’ve watched 3 reviews over this now today and so far you have done the best job.
I have one request if possible. When Josh says he has 300 bows on order I wonder how many are left handed. Could that be part of the review? Thank you.
Pretty obvious FYI but the bow industry has hit a wall ,the early 2000’s - 2016-18 was a fun era.
Best comment on here. Nothing wrong with buying a new bow, but they are not going to change the overall shooting experience.
Can you do the XD? For the big guys?
Problem with just giving a rating on overall speed and overall weight is this test will always favor a short ata bow because it’s easier to make them lighter and easier to make them faster. Same bows in different ata the short one always will get a higher number.
Actually was a 331 fps average,but its Mathews,so they get a pass😂😂😂
Will my gas strings from my lift 33 fit on my lift x 33?
I just want to know what camo that is on the bow
@podiumarcher3447 what laser are you using to check your cam alignment? Is it one specific to archery?
How is this bow 10fps faster than the lift 33? What’s different?
I have the same question…what changed between the 2024 Lift 33 and 2025 Lift X 33 to go from last years speed test with a 450g arrow from 291 average to 297 fps?
Why are we not showing the draw cycle
The Matthews fanboy is strong with this one.
Still need a bow press for timing, and durability in field is an open question. Otherwise it’s just grips and fixing limbs that exploded last year. Significantly (5+) slower than Hoyt ultra, and harder draw. Meh.
Agreed. This bow will shoot EXACTLY like last year's LIFT. Zero difference in shooting experience.
Just shot the lift x 29.5 and alpha x2 29.5 that Hoyt pulled wayyyyy harder man go shoot them I couldn’t believe it
actually if you have the SAS system you can twist your cables up to adjust timing while in the field.
I agree, wish they would have tackled timing first, or obviously both.
Looking forward to the Mathews Lift XD review!
Love the VIdeo, keep up the good work and the sense of humor.
Will you be doing the review of the lift XD?
Just for saving reasons what’s that run I have a bit saved but I need a number to achieve if that makes since , I paid roughly $2,500 for my phase 4 33 decked out .
Another subjective review of a bow by MFJJ. The Mathews could have worse numbers than others and it still scores higher. 😂
Did they pay royalties to bowtech?
Will you be doing a lift xd review? They are claiming 363 ibo on the website and I’m genuinely curious how close it will be.
I saw that too. I'm assuming that's at 33.5" which is what the bow maxes out at.
Recap for everyone: Same bow as last year just with just some tune ability and a different grip.
Are those the same cams? I know the mods are the same but the cams look bigger.
Limb shift looks bad ass.
New limb aswell
Thanks for the view
If you’re not worried about tuning. No need to upgrade. But this is awesome from Mathews
@@WendellAbigania most people just have their bowshop do it anyways haha but for people who do RUclips or are big on tinkering I’d say it’s a good upgrade.
It Took me 2½ years to afford a Mathews . But I finally got a Phase4 29 few days ago n .My only Gripe so far is the Fact I'll never be able to afford the Bridgelock Stabilizers for it.
Look up Quattro stabilizers I sold my bridge lock to get them
Don’t worry, they are super overrated and overpriced anyways. They literally do nothing that much cheaper stabilizers don’t do, and in most cases the cheaper ones work better.
@@theone9328 yeah I know . But i wanna do something different later on anyway because I've got the trophy ridge hitman kit right now and the back bar bracket just has way too much going on with it and the way it mounts its awkward .
Smart to get the Phase 4, it is a much better long term set up than the Lift or Lift X.
@huntsimple9527 the More I think about Mathews in general the more I'm worried about buying one from them because I feel like they're kinda becoming the type of company that makes their stuff around Expecting you to buy a new one every year and it took me 2½ years to get this 1 .. so I need this bow to last me a really long time . But I guess we will see .
Draw length measurement? Must be way over 30 if not mentioned
