- This video is an interview of North Country Trail thru-hiker, "Strider". The North Country Trail is currently the longest trail system in the United States, covering over 4,500 miles of trail. The trail starts in North Dakota and eventually ends in northern New York. Since the trail passes through my hometown, I thought it would be cool to catch Strider and maybe glean some insights for us hikers, backpackers, campers etc.
At this point in his thru-hike, Strider is just past the 2,600 mile mark. He has already surpassed the Appalachian Trail and is close to surpassing the Pacific Crest Trail in length.
I thought it would be cool to talk to Strider about his experiences thus far as well as to go through his pack to glean insight into the kind of gear someone on this kind of trek would want to have.
It was an honor to host him for the night as I was able to learn a ton from his shared experiences.
