Oh this song is a HUGE memory for me. I was 21 years old in 1986. Walked into a neighborhood bar to ask if the owners would be our backers because I heard the new owners were police officers. Well the one owner was there and I asked him and he said yes. From there he introduced himself to me and I myself. There was instant chemistry between the two of us the only thing was he was 35 years old and like I said I was 21. We talked for 2 hours and he told me to come in to see him that night that he was working. So me and a few of my friends went in there that night and I don't think I left the bar all night just talking to him the entire night. He got my number called me the next day and I went out with him that night. Unfortunately I had to leave a week later to go in a trip to Florida for two weeks. I spent every day with him up until the day I left. I got down to Florida and all I could think of was him. I talked to him on the phone daily and late at night until we fell asleep. I remember telling him that it would be so amazing if he was there with me to enjoy the weather. Now at this point after only about 2 weeks of meeting him I was completely in love with him. 2 days later I got a call from him. I answered the phone and there was silence. 2 seconds later this song came on by Smokey Robinson. He played the entire song over the phone while I stood there in tears of how crazy I was about him. At the end of the song he said he misses me so much. I told him I feel the same way and I couldn't wait to get back to see him. Well he said you don't have to wait Im already here and got a rental car and I'm on my way to see you I just need a address. Lol!!! The rest of my trip was complete and I couldn't have been more overwhelmed then I was that day. We only knew each other for 2 weeks but I was sure I was in love. Well we dated and even moved in together. It lasted almost 4 years and we went our separate ways. I think the age difference caught up to us not for him but for me. We kept in touch through the years and I came to find out he passed away in his sleep at the age of 54. I never stopped loving and longing for him but I think I was just too young and he already at the time went through all the things that I was starting to i my early 20's and we just moved on. I wil lALWAYS love him and one day will see him again. But until then our memories will live on in my heart. ❤
