It's Christmas 2023, and more than 34 years since I've been hearing this song, the original with Amy singing solo. Can't help but feel nostalgic because the song is so sentimental as a whole.
@@sherry5777 No kidding, Amy Grant already had a hit with this as a solo Artist, and, she a contemporary Christian artist was married to Gary Chapman and, Micheal W. Smith got his start through playing in her band! Vince Gill, was married to Sharon White’s Sister of The White’s and, Sharon is married to Ricky Skaggs! As if we didn’t know this information! I have been listening to Amy Grant since, I was a young teenager, like many of others were, Along with Petra which, I seen play at CBC along with my youth group,as this genre was coming about!
Sure except, Amy was married to Gary Chapman (who co wrote this song) when this was recorded and they wouldn’t divorce for 6 years after this recording. They also had 3 kids together. Vince looks like a total homewrecker here. I guess if I feel like I love a woman the way “Christ loved the church” I can just go for it even if she’s married right?
Go read Gary Chapman’s interview where he admits he was a cocaine addict and jealous of Amy’s career. He says he had 2 very different groups of people he hung out with. She hung in there for a long time with someone who was the opposite of the image he was portraying to the public.
