You have to kill the Boars, because the bonfire is not kindlet yet. I belive you can only kindle bonfires with no enemys around.
Yeah, especially as apparently they don't move far enough away from the bonfire when they aren't aggro'd anymore. Maybe I'll just quit and reload, that should get them back to their normal positions.
