My father used to have a 2003 Chevy impala. This thing was falling apart after 4 years and was in a shop every other week. You never knew if it would even start the next morning. This was our first and last American car. Consumer reports rates cars on what exactly? Definitely not long term reliability.

I am buying this car this week. The limited hybrid version. They're getting rid of 2013 models as 2014 models are coming in so the price is 36,600 for blizzard pearl/almond interior. I disagree with some people it's a car for old people - it used to be. I'm 24 young professional and think this car is great. I was initially looking at Lexus ES but feel like Avalon is more premium minus the Lexus logo
i just bought the 2014 touring and im 29. i love the car.
Things to consider before buying the Avalon, especially $40K Limited version: no rear 12v jacks for charging electronics, no heated steering wheel, rear climate controls are for temperature only-no separate fan speed controls and no sun shades on rear door windows...all of which should included with a $40K car, but Toyota didn't want to hurt Lexus ES 350 sales. :(
Consumer Reports rates the Avalon line very highly. 5/5 for repair/reliability.

I own this car and I love it. I have owned the 2000, the 2006 and now the 2113. It doesn't ride as well as the others. However, it has a sport feel. I love the back up camera which is very helpful for me since I have some challenges with my neck. It is very fast. Although it has about 2hp less then the others it seems faster to me. It is also smaller then the 2006. Seems to be about a foot shorter then the other. I have a little less trunk space but not a problem. I wish the front seat had a little bit more padding. I liked this video but was hoping for some help on the radio, Sat controls. That is my challenge right now. I do have the iphone working well with the car but could use some help on the programming of the Sat. I have a year free subscription but doesn't want to work. The dealers are excellent though and so no worries...
Poor you. The Avalon is DESIGNED and BUILT in America, by Americans. That's why he/she was referring to.
Did that car have the rear parking sensors

Your 2000 Avalon will have a smoother ride than the 2013 model. The new one has a sportier feel and ride compared to the more plush ride of your 2000.
In that situation, the jam protection feature would open the window back up. If someone is trying to rob you, I highly doubt a 1/4 inch thick piece of glass is going to stop them anyway. It's not like it's bulletproof glass or anything of that nature. Ask yourself how many times have you been robbed compared to how many times you or you kids/grandkids/etc could've caught their fingers in the window. If you are going to get car-jacked, it's probably going to be at gunpoint/other lethal threat
This is just beautiful. Toyota went all out on the Avalon. Now if the Maxima has this much tech when it's redesigned I'll be a happy camper...
By the headlight on the hood? That is the white plastic that comes on them from the factory. Not a paint chip, If you are referring to the spot on the bumper below the headlight, that is a bug or something. The car was dealer traded in from VA to PA.

Hyundai Motor's mid-sized Sonata sedan ranked first in its category in a vehicle dependability study released on Wednesday by U.S. market researcher J.D. Power and Associates.
Hyundai said that the Sonata scored 94 points to beat major rivals such as the Toyota Camry (104 points), Honda Accord (107 points) and Nissan Altima (110 points).

Thank you! Unfortunately, I don't have access to any Lexus models other than ones that are traded in. My dealership has Toyota and Hyundai. I would like to have a video for each model, but finding the time has been tricky.
You kind of answered it yourself. They want to lower the average age of an Avalon buyer to around 50-51. They feel by making it sportier, it will accomplish this goal.
Do the steering wheel stereo buttons illuminate for night visibility? I can't tell from the video.

@@pukus123 I still love it. I bought it used with 16k miles and it was like brand new. It's the same car as the Lexus ES
@@wurly164 Yes, minus the premium gas expense lol did you do any light tasteful mods to the car?
@@pukus123 you don't need premium gas it runs on regular. That is what is recommended. No upgrades
Too bad the cypress pearl color of this Avalon only comes with one interior color to choose from. It would look great with black interior.

We have a 2000 Avalon XLS and are considering the purchase of either the 2013 Touring or Limited (with technology package) this week. I want the limited model, my wife does not.
We took the Camry for a test drive the other day and quickly returned to the dealership as we didn't like it as much as the Avalon.
We also tested a fully loaded Passat, but didn't like the rough suspension and a Volvo S80 which we felt was a tad bit too small.
The ride on the new one isn't as plush as previous Avalons. I think it has a sportier ride and feel to it.

We bought the 2013 Avalon Limited with technology package in magnetic gray metallic with black interior. We're very satisfied with our purchase. We gave the 2000 Avalon XLS to our son who just turned 16.
There are too many things that I like about the vehicle to list with a 500 character limit. It's just a great car.

It can range anywhere from low $30k range to over $40k depending on the trim level

We plan on purchasing a used 2013 Limited with the Technology Package. We've had a used 2008 XLS since 2010 and are excited to get into another Avalon!

Generally a "how to not" review a car. He talks too fast and seems to be in a big hurry. As a consequence there are items that are not well explained or understood. This car has some great features and some of the latest technology and deserves a much better review than this dork provided. Maybe he should go back to selling used suzukis to the English language challenged.
