Bottom line, guys. I'm all for $tern making money. I just feel that it should be done via "Fair Exchange". The thing about "Fair Exchange" is that it's subjective. If you think that these alterations to the JP game are worth the extra cash - then technically it's a fair exchange. I just don't see the value in what they have done - I don't think it's a fair exchange. I think they should have done more, especially for a great game like Jurassic Park.

And it is your right to not buy the game. I''ve seen people pay over 16k for a HUO original LE so for those that missed on the 1st LE would you say this is a bargain??? I love when people use the term "cash grab" Like its bad for a private company to try to maximize its profits. lol

I tried saying this on Pinside and people were defending Stern. LEs are a cash grab, period. It is overpriced for paint, a shaker motor, art, and art blades. 3k extra for that? Collecting pinballs machines just to sell it for more money, which is what a lot of LE owners seem to do, is actually inflating the prices for everyone.

I thought Stern bought out all of Data East and Segas Pinball infrastructure in the late 1990s and would have the rights to any of the old Data East & Sega pinball sourcing and codes, as well as everything else pinball related in regards to the former Data East pinball department, componants, schematics, moldings etc etc etc etc.....
If Chicago Gaming and Hagis could do old Williams and Bally then im sure Stern could do it, also considering Stern is a much bigger company with a bigger budget than both Chicago Gaming and Haggis combined, plus Stern already has the rights to Data East pinball.....and Sega Pinball......i think.....just a thought,.....maybe im wrong.....Still a great idea if im correct..

Im sorry, i wasnt sure if you were reffering to my The Data East Jurrasic park comment or my Simpsons comment.
If you were reffering to Stern 2003 Simpsons, i would imagine it wouldnt be too much trouble for Stern to handle since they already have done it before.
Look what CG did with Pulp Fiction. They created a whole new game in the style of an oldschool pin, with some new improved modern bells and whistles and better tech.
If they can do it, then why cant Stern replicate oldschool pinball with remake modernized versions?

    • @toyotaboyhatman
      @toyotaboyhatman Год назад +1

@@chibang492 simpsons.. can it be done? sure, but it wouldn't be worth the effort. They have never in history converted an older title to new boards. Any time a vault edition has been made, it was while they were still using that board set (or just changed to a new one and still had lots of old boards in stock). Spike was a major cost savings not only in the boards, but in wiring cost and labor of making those harnesses. If (and it's a big IF) they ever vaulted a popular title like simpsons or Tron, it would most certainly be converted to spike (which would take a programmer to rewrite the rules on the new framework). Even when Big juicey melons was released, they ran it on a spike system (the tiny LCD in the apron was equivalent of a DMD resolution).

I don't specifically agree with your take. I was in the market for a pre-owned JP LE and this fits the bill at a few thousand below Pinside pricing. I imagine market correction is coming. While hire than original JP LE list, JP 30TH LE comes in below market for the original JP LE.
On a side note, it infuriates me knowing my Cactus Canyon LE remake came with a topper and pinball heavens permitting, my Pulp Fiction LE will also come with a topper for less than the magical $10,000 price point. Stern gives HD glass but no topper or special accessories. To me, there's no excuse to not have included the topper and the expression lighting I have in my Foo Fighters LE.

I have many games - JP is my all time fav yet the art was always off. For me I’m fine selling my premium, buying the LE 30th for the art and then seeing how well 1 of 500 holds its value as it’s clearly the nicest looking limited package for one of the best games ever. I guess we’ll see in a few years but I’m confident this game will stay competitive value wise. Elwin+great license +proven gameplay + limited = win. Cheers

We already have had multiple Runs of the 2019 JP.

Youve already sold like a million Stern JPs.
Just about every single one of us Pinball buyers already have a version of this JP.
Most of us however, do not have the 1993 Data East JP. Would of been somthing differant and made a hell of alot more sense with a "30th anniversary" tag on it, considering thats the one that its actually the 30th anniversary of.
Stern would of sold a sh*tload more DATA East 30th anniversarys than just remaking the same JP from 2019,AGAIN, that they have had multiple runs of alreadt and was still in production recently, or still is.
Make the same exact thing, slap new decals on, and presto, market it as somthing new.

without Stern , you would not have a great hobby to complain about. So, yes you should be kind of grateful, and not be so hard on them. Of coarse it is upsetting to see premiums increasing in value by 40-50% over the past few years, and being stripped of shakers, and powder coated armor. Of. coarse it is upsetting that they use a cheaper grade of wood in the pro missions than they use in premiums machines amongst other things, however making a special edition game because there is a demand for it should not be so upsetting. It is not a money grab. It is a different LE machine that may or may not be a good investment down the road, and surely will not decrease in value over the next 5 years or so. There are not things these days that hold their values as pinball machines do. Stern Pinball has a lot to do with that, so I am just saying that you are being a little harsh.Ten years ago or so; they were the only ones making pinball machines. So, pretty much everyone currently enjoying the hobby, or getting into this great hobby has Stern to thank for it. There is no arguing that. Is the company perfect ??? Definitely not. Are they too concerned with efficiency and cutting costs ? Definitely ! If you want to call something a money grab, point at the Elvira game from a couple of years ago, or point towards the 007 that recently came out, which was upwards of $20,000 , and people cant get rid of them fast enough...
