This album is like the grown version of GGGB. The industry wasn’t ready for this album, but it was great add to her discography. It signified adulthood (she had just turned 21), independence, & growth. This was her GROWN woman era. Yeah this was after the CB incident and she refused to be seen as a victim.
This album has her most underrated songs - even Russian Roulette, which was a single and a worldwide hit, feels very under-appreciated. I'd say it's in her top 3 best songs of all time and probably number one lyrics-wise. Also, Cold Case Love is probably the most underrated song in her whole discography.
I was so young when this album came out but I just remember how big a piece of art this album was and how I felt like I never heard something like that before
my all time fav. rihanna album. you can realy tell that she wrote or co wrote most of the songs. and cold case love my fav. song feom rihanna. always brings tears. and the guitar plays and solos are sooo good and underrated on this album.
@@alihasan9611 Rihanna said this was one of her favorites from the album, and for good reason! All of them you can feel her pain, but on this one you can tell she was really feeling it.
This my favorite Rihanna album... I legit love every single song on this album. This, talk that talk and loud are my favourite top 3 Rih bodies of work ❤️🔥👌
35:53 I didn't see anyone else respond to this (apologies if I missed it). Rihanna's fans called themselves the Navy because of this track. They were just fans before. This was around the time fan group names became popular. The lyric "we’re an army better yet, a navy" is actually believed to be a nod to a lyric from Jay'Z track Takeover "Rocafella is the army, better yet the navy”. Fans when listening to this song chose to start calling themselves the Rihanna Navy and then Rihanna picked up on it and started calling fans the Navy.
Still will never understand why Hole In My Head wasn't just a standard album track instead of some Nokia only exclusive. Rated R is easily Top 3 of all her albums.
I completely agree with your assessment regarding Te Amo. It feels like out of place on the album. I love the song but it didn't suit well with the vibe of the other songs.
I always interpreted Te Amo as the lyrical Me telling us an "almost lesbian love affair" between himself (Rihanna) and some girl who seems to be a close and very adored friend and who would be insisting on something that Rihanna could not reciprocate. And while she insisted on a homosexual romance, she was afraid of coming out. Maybe that's why he repeated the expression of that feeling in Portuguese: Te Amo.
Its funny that the songs she was forced to put on the album by her label cause they wanted radio hits are the exact songs you say shouldn't be there lol

GGGB’s version? WTH. Rated R is a unique masterpiece.
@@rmq1988 …um, where did I say it wasn’t (?)
I COMPLETELY DIDNT EVEN REALIZE SHE BARELY TURNED 21????!!!!

Yay. Great reaction 5o my favorite Rih Album 🤍
I loved this album.
Rihanna invented emo era
This album was released in 2009 after the emo era lol
@@davidpatterson2925 I think their referring to an artist having an emo phase somewhere in their music career you refer to different albums as eras
@@davidpatterson2925 And? She still invented it.
Cold Case Love written by Timberlake
That's why it reminds "Rehab" by him

My favorite Rihanna album, also the first concert I have ever been to. My mom took me because I loved the album so much. 😊

Hard and Te Amo are amazing.

Please react to “melodrama” by lorde!! It’s one of the best most critically acclaimed pop albums of the decade!! You would absolutely love it!!🤍🤍

Yeeeees!
Hope you react to loud and unapologetic you not gonna be dissapointed 🔥
You need to react to unapologetic by Rihanna!!!

For Te amo, you are certainly obliged to watch the MV to understand how much dark the song is ☺️

Photographs didn't belong in this album. They could've shelved it 🙄. I cringe everytime I hear that song 😬
I Love That Song
I love photographs. I also love his interpretation and analysis of it. I play it until Will I Am comes on. His part could have been left out.
Check out Isaac Dunbar
well this album was released after that thing with he who must not be named
He who she took back a few years later and actually made up with.
Oh my god let it go
She means she's always been slimmer than a size 10...10 is quite big, I'm not slim n I go between 6-8
