- With a handspun rainbow yarn, I'm weaving a full rainbow gradient shawl on my tri-loom. This was such a fun project! I'll take a break in the middle to rest my arms so I'll give you a peak at how my flax beds are growing. And as a fun bonus, watch to the end to find out about the day in the life of a Rainbow Yarn Influencer! Now that I've done continuous strand weaving with a rainbow, should I try a fractal spin next? What colors would you experiment with?

Weaving a rainbow in the rain is just spot on!
🌦️🌈🥰
You can't have a rainbow without rain.
mumbling to myself that i DO NOT need to pick up weaving just because a gorgeous shawl caught my magpie brain
Best comment I’ve ever seen😂😂. The struggle is real my friend❤
Good luck lol that was me a. few months ago and then i bought a steal of a loom for 40bucks and i'm like WELP GOTTA ACTUALLY LEARN TO WEAVE NOW!
Yeah, that. I can *not* afford a new craft that takes up so much room. But oh, that shawl is *_so_* gorgeous.
You give off fun aunt vibes. Like the one aunt that actually knows what you like and makes great effort to make you feel special. It’s so comforting
Real 😭 I was like smiling through the whole thing bc she seems so nice and kind
It's so refreshing and inspiring to see someone whose crafting isn't 90% swearing followed by hating the end result. Like. I am aware that often being cheerful and enthusiastic (or at least showing it) is a choice, and not always an easy one, so it's great to have your example.
I'm a terrible actor and worse liar so if I look like I'm having tons of fun, I promise it's genuine. That said, I don't like to be too hard on my outcomes. Even if it's not as I expected or hoped for, I don't want anyone who is thinking of trying a new craft for the first time, who maybe came to one of my videos to learn, to get discouraged. When anyone sees someone with more experience trashing a project that a beginner would be thrilled to achieve, that's not going to encourage anyone. It's even worse when you consider that many of us are fighting the urge to be perfect on the first try (unrealistic for any skilled craft). I think we can all find something good in our work even if it's just lessons learned for the next crafty attempts.
@@JillianEve I internalised in my teens that nothing I ever did was good enough, that being satisfied with anything was arrogance and/or indicated that you weren't trying hard enough, so I ended up only being able to see the flaws in my work and feeling like if I didn't exhaust myself on striving for perfection I might as well not have bothered at all. I'm unlearning that now, but it's not easy.
@@RandomAFP I came from a very similar place to what you are describing. It's not easy to undo those messages. I worked on my perfectionism by realizing that having pride in my work isn't conceit or arrogance. It's an act of self-respect and healthy confidence to take pride in my work!🫂
@@JillianEveExactly! It got easier when I noticed that the people who were loudest with those sorts of ideas were the ones who didn't do anything much, and then realised it was because they couldn't! First step on getting good at anything is sucking at it, and that's not bad! It's only by messing up that you really learn anything.
My goodness, who are you watching that they are having such a bad time? Crafting is supposed to be fun, even when you don't like the end result. It's the process. I just finished a shawl that I didn't like, so I sewed it together and made a pillow.
Omg, obsessed with little Rainbow Skein's day in the life at the end!
i can't wait for the Netflix series.
Did not expect the yassified yarn to give me affirmation at the end but I'm into it.
This entire video is chaos and I love it so much. It's also awesome to see a rainbow weaving project for pride. Love it so much
Glad you liked it! 💜🌈
omg seeing those little potholders brings me back to my childhood... my whole family went through a phase where we just made a TON of those for like 6 months, and almost 20 years later we're still using them.
It turned out so gorgeous! And I absolutely love your fringe! Your hair looks so lovely! The bumble bee seal of approval was the icing on the cake 😂
Thank you! 🐝
It has the bumble bee seal of approval.
This video is perfect: rainbows, gradients, pin looms, and BUNNY!
I love June, the number of rainbow projects just skyrockets! The yarn works so well for a multi-gradient (double rainbow what does it meaaaaaan) and it looks fantastic as a triangle shawl. I thought it was funny that you were weaving in the rain for a bit because obviously that's how you get the most authentic rainbows!
This is the first of your videos I've seen and I have to say you are absolutely adorable. Your encounter with the bee was sweet. You are a beautiful flower.
I see that whole rainbow as a dream, as a woven tapresty of everything we feel.
well that was a labour of love, and it turned out lovely and your little rainbow skein adventure at the end was just delightful. Appreciate all the work you put into your videos
Great way to use your hand-spun. I watched someone at the Washington Fair make one of these triangle shawls but did not see her tie it off. I love it!
And your triangle loom!! I bought one a few years ago but don’t know how to use it, thank you for showing us!!
I have an older video on my channel that is more of a tutorial. It has instructions to get the strand started on the top. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/k1Zi5dD8Fd8/видео.html
the looser
tension is so satisfying i can only imagine how good it feels to hold/wear!!
I never new a rainbow of colors could actually go so well well together like this, it’s so pretty
i was getting carnival flashbacks when you started waving it around. no wonder you're attracting all of Nature to your position. what a beautiful way to celebrate Pride month. luv it!
It is gorgeous! I admire your patience; I have taken several runs at continuous strand weaving, and made some lovely things, but I was not in love with the process and have always sold the triangle and gone back to my floor loom. To each their own! You do lovely work, and in honor of Pride month, Happy Pride!
Thank you so much! I'm also in love with my floor loom, but I like to mix it up too. I'm glad if you didn't love your tri-loom it could go to someone who hopefully will enjoy it! Happy weaving! 🌈💜😊
You remind me of my aunt Athena. And it's really comforting since I haven't seen her in like...8 years. This is also a really fun project, and I love it a lot!
Pretty Gradient shawl! JillianEve tested, Bumblebee approved!
I only recently started spinning my own yarn and it's soo cool to see what you can do with it!!! It was so worth it spending all my pocket money on the Spinning wheel!! (im a teenager and aspire to be like you when I grow up)
I love the vibe of this video. You have the exact same charming and captivating way of explaining things like Lofty Pursuits!
That shawl is absolutely stunning! Definitely worth all the effort that went into it. 😍 Also, those pot holders are SO cute! I love your plants, and the idea of growing them to use them in projects. I just love your content so much, Evie.
Thanks so much! 😊
@@JillianEve It's a pleasure; thank you too, for sharing your art with us
This whole video is a delight, and your shawl is beautiful. You are just wonderful company, thank you x
I've wondered how those triangle looms work! The gradient is beautiful! I'm impressed and happy it worked out so well.
Absolutely gorgeous! ❤ I had a pin loom just like as a kid and made so many potholders. I feel the strongest urge to get one and do some inner child healing.
I did! Acorns & Twigs 10" pro loom.
So beautiful! I want to sit down with that shawl and look and look and look at all the color changes and combinations.
❤❤❤
I love you even more ❤thank you for supporting the 🏳️🌈 community. Your yarn and weaving are stunning 🎉
That turned out so beautiful!! I love the drape it has, too!
This is amazing!!!! Super beautiful gradient of gradients and I love your potholders too.
It really turned out well! Thanks for your sacrifices to bring this lovely shawl to us!
I love how this turned out! I used some semi-rainbow yarn I spun as color B in a Stephen West Flying Foxtail wrap--I love seeing what rainbow can do in a triangle, too!
Oh I bet that will look so stunning!
That BOUJIE as heck rainbow eucalyptus swift has me high key jealous.
At around 13 minutes the Weaver almost looks like a painting of a body of water with a red sky. So beautiful! I have Nederland encountered your change before but I'm falling in love with your personality and authentic sense of joy. I am inspired to start weaving aswell, Ialready crochet but this seems like another amazing craft hobby. Thank you so much for being yourself and sharing your passions!
That yarn is beautiful. I have never seen a pin loom that big. It is fabulous! Thank you for sharing
Evies way of explaining her projects is so soothing and wholesome. I love watching it.
Love this idea, and how effective the gradient is!!! Yahh you! It's very pretty.
Makes me think of the Amyrlin Seat from the Wheel of Time books with her rainbow shawl! Nice work!
That little skein outro was the cutest 🤣 great shawl!
your videos introduced me to spinning as someone who already crochets and i love your work! its so inspiring and informative and your yarns are always beautiful!! ♡
This is really pretty I've never seen this before and i love your energy and how happy you were with the end result
I have never seen anything like that loom. Woozers!!!! It is so cool! Thank you for showing the process. The shawl is beautiful and so are you! ❤
I don't think I'll ever weave anything but I'm still glad youtube's algorithm nudged me towards her sunny personality I loved that shes just like welp guess I'm doing this in the rain
This was an absolute JOY to watch, you may have just piqued my interest in weaving... yet another textile art to consume me forever ❤
Oh okay, that's the most joyful shawl I've ever seen! Stunning!
This is such a happy and positive energy video and i genuinely felt so relaxed watching this, it wasnt overdramatic like some people are these days, it was the perfect mix of calm and excitement, such a lovely and rare personality to see these days
A lovely, fascinating and wonderful way to use the gradient; both the process and the result. The finishing process in particular made me smile. I had been wondering how it would be done, and watching each loop being hooked over the one next to it was very satisfying in a “d’oh, of course” kind of way (not being a weaver myself, it was obvious as soon as I saw it). Thank you for another truly interesting and inspirational video.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊💜🌈
That shawl was so pretty!! I want to learn how to make one so bad now (as though your channel hasnt been making me want to learn spinning and weaving for months now)
I'll take full responsibility for inspiring new crafts and learning! 💜😊🌈
Seeing your joy at the end is so contagious! Keep making wonderful things and videos so we can live through you!
I'm always excited to see people using pin looms, especially in videos
This video made me so happy, mostly because of your obvious excitement. Love this video from beginning to end!
That shawl is luminous.
Happy pride month everyone, whether you are a member of the LGBTIAQ+ community or an ally.
This is gorgeous, and I had so much fun watching! If you ever do another one, start with purple, so you get more of it!
Oh, wow, the ending is so adorable! It slayed me, and this is my ghost writing about how wonderful little rainbow skein's adventures were. 💜
the dramatic shots and the dramatic music at the end, perfection!
Setting the project down and taking a step back to just...look IS the most important (and best) step in any creative hobby. For best results, this step should be completed at least once every half hour.
That’s a beautiful shawl, and I love your pot holders! I had one of those looms when I was younger and recently started looking them up because I remember it being so fun.
i love it!!!!! its the exact type of shawl i would want to make on a triangle loom
What a wonderful personality you have! It was so fun watching you, as you are cheerful and bright and it was joyful to watch you.
Your weaver mathin' skills with the tension is Doctorate level babe!!
Okay, the shawl is just beautiful, and the ending was adorable. Happy creating 💚🧶💚
Oh cool! Beautifully done !
Thank you so much 😀
It's gorgeous! I have a cotton rainbow color gamp blanket i wove a few years ago. I didn't spin the yarn, but it's my favorite thing i ever wove and this shawl reminds me of it. I'd love it even more if i had spun the yarn.
Looking forward to seeing the fully blocked and shocked shawl! Happy Pride!!
1) LOOOVE the shawl.
2) You are ADORABLE!
3) LOVE your energy!
Its just so georgous, thank you for your sacrifice of wearing a woolen shawl in summer😊 and I really laughed at you beimg divebombed because you are the prettiest flower.
This turned up on my recommended randomly and I usually wouldn't have clicked just because I'm not into weaving, but I'm so glad I did. Your personality is infectiously positive in the best way, and you made a BEAUTIFUL shawl! Thanks for the uplifting video.
I love everything about this, and can't stop smiling. Thank you for the affirming Rainbow Skein at the end.
Very nice! BTW, I made a queen sized blanket out of yarn instead of loopydoops several years ago. It can be done. Noreen Crone Findlay has a couple videos about how to do it.
Our weaving guild had a talk by the owner of Harrisville Designs and he did say that they were considering making wool loops. Who knows if it will ever actually happen but it would be nice if they did, not only because of the melted nylon thing. I'd rather use those instead of yarn since it would be a lot quicker and easier.
Oh I would LOVE some Harrisville Wool Loops!
You had me at the no ends to weave in 😂 I’m sold!
Edit: just finished the video and the finished product is absolutely breathtaking! I cannot believe it all came from one long strand of yarn even after watching it happen. Incredible 😱
Jillian your videos give me so much happiness. Thanks so much for sharing your positivity and lovely work!
Oh my..... Evie, it's more than gorgeous ❤
Thank you so much!!! 😊🐝💜🌈
The shawl ended up so beautiful! Absolutely fitting for pride month
Fabulous fabric, you're always a joy to watch x
I've loved seeing your videos become more and more narrative, playful, comfortable, confident over time! This video feels like a sip of lemonade on a hot day :~) and I love your bangs!
Sooo beautiful 💚
and great info...thank's for sharing !!!
I love the vibes of this video so much!! The shawl turned out so beautifully and was the perfect background noise for crocheting some cute summer clothes!
Wow! that yarn is just so beautiful and the finished shawl is amazing. Well done you.
Great project! It came out so beautiful!
Oh it is just gorgeous!! Phenomenal work!!
Absolutely gorgeous! 💖
It’s a beautiful shawl. I loved the colors.
When you said warp speed ahead, everything clicked into place in my brain! Never thought being a trekkie would help me better grasp the concept of warp and weft but here I am, lmao thank you for this gem and sharing this wonderful project
The end result is so gorgeous!! What a beautiful rainbow shawl!
I love the hair pick used to bet the weft into place. The gradient is gorgeous.
You have such a warmth about you ~ ❤ I absolutely did not intend to watch this whole video and only clicked it in a whim, but then I couldn’t look away. What a lovely project. It’s so cool that you could adjust the yarn yourself and just take some of the blue out to make room for the purple. The end result is gorgeous and I love your positivity.
its so impressive how you can reform the colors after having ti splice one baseed off your intention and prefernce of the piece- lovely and inspiring !!
Beautifully woven! I love the rainbow gradient! I also like that it's a little open and airy. Your triloom is also SO COOL! I want to make one. 💜
Beautiful!!! ❤ Congrats! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi! Thank you for supporting us 🏳️🌈. I really enjoy your channel. I've been interested in fiber arts as well as other older style crafts like blacksmithing since I was an early teen and read the wonderful Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce. Those books continue to ignite in me a passion for all things fiber. And thank you for so happily and expertly keeping the crafts alive. Oh, and the shawl was beautiful.
Very nice... love the gradient and thank you for supporting Pride.. I still think I want to weave on the loom something with rainbow someday..
Truly magical! I love this shawl so much! The outdoors and crafting is just the positivity I am looking for! Happy Pride month all!
I am very happy you popped up in my news feed. I love your energy. You actually made my day and made it better. Thank you so much. I am not a weaver or knitter. I crochet. I will definitely check out more videos and I have passed this one on already. Thank you again for being a shining star. Peace Love n Blessings. With Loads Love Angel
I love learning from you! Your smile is contagious!!
That was the PERFECT thing to do with that beautiful yarn!!❤
You ARE the prettiest flower!
I have a shawl from Ireland that my MIL gave me. It seems to have the same looseness that yours does, so now I have a better appreciation of how it may have been made. Thanks for sharing with us ❤
This shawl is so beautiful 😍 I LOVE all the colors 🌈
I love this idea and it turned out so beautiful! It reminds me of an assignment I had in a painting class where we had to make a grid of every paint color we got for the class and chart out the colors from each combination. So satisfying!
