  • Don't toucha the blue spaghet.
    Bottom to top and back in 1 cycle with no savepoint and only 1 death which I didn't record. It just takes practice and a bit of patience!
    Skip to about 1:09 if you don't want to watch me going from my shelter to UD.

    To be honest, if I could do it over for the first time again, I absolutely would. The atmosphere of the area is so tense, and the roaring bass in otherwise total silence excellently underscores the instant death around every corner. • @cidballcidball8030
      @cidballcidball8030 5 лет назад +13

      So basically if you don't want spoilers, don't read this as it has a plot point in it.
      So basically five pebbles has this thing called the rot developing in him which is the result of a failed experiment the rot the daddy long longs are the rot when pebbles found the rot he flushed it and other junk out of his systems and that created the garbage wastes with the smaller "brother" long legs, that only temporarily solved the problem and more of it grew but I'm just guessing that the rot merged with his technology and grew more advanced than its smaller cousins, (by the way daddy long legs aren't technically alive). So in short Proto long legs is just daddy long legs (the rot) but on the walls (you could be right)

    • @half-usedwoodenpickaxe4835
      @half-usedwoodenpickaxe4835 5 лет назад +12

      Cidball Cidball yeah I knew what he did and where the brothers came from, and I understood that they are an amalgamation of many small organisms. It just seemed like the proto daddies were underdeveloped (shown by them leaving tentacles out to grab things, similar to a spiders web, rather than moving to gather food themselves, even when they could just stay there, it’s a better predatory technique).

    Er, what do you do if the blue things actively hunt you down rather than just ignoring you? I mean, yeah, if they ignore you like those ones did, then it's easy. But I hide in the little tunnels, and they beeline for me from the other end of the room, reach in, and rip me out before I can do anything. It literally take about seven seconds, and it's not a fluke. It's happened about 15 times in a row. I've tried creeping everywhere, I don't throw things, they're just all awake and actively aggressive from the moment I enter the room.

    • @turtletoad7725
      @turtletoad7725  4 года назад +16

      If they come for a tunnel, it's always an option to just leave and wait in another spot. Ideally you will make as little noise as possible, but if one of them is getting on your trail you can throw something at the opposite wall to distract them. I always like to carry a rock or spear in case one grabs me, so I can quickly get it off of me and escape.

    • @AMCoffee
      @AMCoffee 4 года назад +8

      @@turtletoad7725 I'll try that the next time I'm in an area like that again, but every time I throw an item - scrap or rubble - they ignore it and come for me instead. And dropping out of the tunnels and going elsewhere wasn't an option because the things would settle their bodies at one entrance and loop their arms around to the other.
      I got through that area, but it was really just down to luck. I can't seem to make those things behave the way they're meant to, based on everything I read on the game mechanics.

    whenever i go to Pebbles, whichever way, i turn off DLLs with mods, i just can't deal with them. i guess they're a really fun challenge to some degree, but more often than not, they get extremely frustrating. too much depends on pure luck. and all kids of moving rot (MLLs, DLLs, BLLs, i think there are only 3 moving ones?) are nice enemies for bigger spaces that allow you a lot of places to jump and move to, like The Leg. the fun with them is that you need to move with great precision to avoid them. zero gravity deprives you of any chance of precise movement, making you too vulnerable to be grabbed by a tentacle, or by the wall rot. you can't fight them or stun them in any way. if they're blocking your way, you just have to wait and pray they won't go your way. they can move faster than you can float from place to place, and they're not affected by the gravity changes. believe me that Pebbles is much more fun without DLLs.
    that being said, OP, you're so powerful for going through this TWICE without dying. no skill issue in sight.

    Unfortunate Development isn't that difficult. It's frustrating at most, I died quote a few times to stray DLLs that I didn't expect and some bad timing, otherwise it's actually pretty easy. Just takes a lot of waiting and some good luck.

      you step a bit and they came flying on you on the Exterior but you still on its face and its just ignore so you realize pretty fast that they are blind but extremely good at hearing so you turn up the sound and test evry action to know if its make noise then you go there and you.. well time to place my training on pratice
      and die by commeting a deadly sim glutony
      thoses neurons are tasty but that killed me and after that i just go silent

    what actually IS unfortunate development?

    • @turtletoad7725

      This will require quite a bit of explaining.
      The Chimney Canopy colored pearl describes a method of overwriting the self destruction taboo, which is basically a thing the ancients hard-coded into the DNA of every iterator to prevent them from doing anything that might lead to self destruction. To overwrite it would mean that the iterator would have more freedom, and, yes, probably allow them to self destruct. The specific method involves tediously (and dangerously) mutating some tissue until you eventually get the combination of DNA you're looking for, in this case it would overwrite the original cell's DNA but do nothing else. As i said however, the work is very tedious and time-consuming. You would have to run parallel processes to get any progress at all in a timely manner. It is implied that Five Pebbles did this, and increased his groundwater consumption to five times the normal amount to compensate for the extra work he was doing. Iterators run on water and need it to prevent slag buildup. His neighbor, who shared the same water source. (Looks to the Moon) endured several cycles with no water and eventually began to die without access to it. In a last-ditch effort, she forced him to drop everything he was doing and listen to her pleas to stop. With his concentration broken, Five Pebbles presumably lost control of the mutations and it spiraled into the rot, or daddy long legs. It has been slowly eating away at him ever since. Looks to the Moon evidently did not recover from her dehydration, and her structure collapsed.

      @@turtletoad7725 So the huge DDL growths are just sprawling clumps of mutated DNA from five pebbles? (btw thanks for the response)

    It almost looks to me like you did something to the AI for the Daddy Long Legs because there is NO WAY they would let you just stroll by like that. The fact that they are all just stuck on the wall is also a big givaway. Knowing how much you like to play with the games inner workings ;)

      They function primarily based on noise, so if you don't slam yourself against any walls and move by them fast enough or only via poles, it doesn't trigger their aggro

      @@stygianskies4776 It may have had worse AI for the port to PS4? That's my only guess other than extreme luck, because I have DDL's create FTL travel to find me. Totally respect you for that insane feat though!
