You are on a fantastic journey. One other point is that English speaking Cameroon in the North and South had the opportunity to merge into Nigeria. The English speakers in the North agreed to merge into Nigeria, but the English speakers in the South agreed to stay with French speaking Cameroon. So both regions agreed to stay with Camerroon rather than merge into Nigeria .
