I played in a five chord punk band as a teenager and bass in another band but I really had no idea what I was doing. I picked up the guitar again at 50. I am now 56 and finally sort of understand the fretboard. I'm still crap but knowing what I'm doing is satisfying 😊
When I started watching I was confused. I thought I stepped into an alternative universe where Elmo is left handed and didn't know how to play. Uff! 😮💨 What a relief.
I think the secret is managing focussed, good quality practice. Certainly for me I can focus for 5/10 minutes and often then things go downhill again. What worked for me when I was an absolute beginner was 2 or 3 of these short sessions each day. You’ll also not ruin your finger ends that way! Videos like this are useful for beginners because they show that it does take time and perseverance
#1 Elmo I love watching your channel....I just want to say that first....you are right about the fun part...I am disabled stuck at home most days...I have been on crutches for 2 years now because I need a new hip...but nobody wants to operate because I have diabetes and a bad heart...my diabetes is well controlled...but anyways...I love playing guitar cause it sets me free of my prison...I play at least 2 hours a day....but mostly close to 6 hours a day....I will play an hour then go lay down....cause yhe swelling in my legs can get bad...anyways thank for the great content man
Yeah, that would be like learning all over. Geesh. Good video. I hope youre well my friend. Man, Temmu is killing it with Megadeth! He is so good man. Must be something in the water in Finland 😂... Take care sir. ❤
My Son does this with Bass, he is left handed, is pretty decent on Guitar and also plays Keys tbf, so coordination in both hands, but would play my right handed bass sometimes upside down, sometimes right handed, he plays by ear, so makes no difference, but if you are a visual player and think of patterns, probably harder. Eventually bought him a Sire left handed bass, beautiful instrument.
Good video. Rome wasn't built in a day. The longest journey starts with a single step. I've kind of become discouraged with the thing. After seeing this, breathing the cold air outside and seeing the snow fall day after day I guess I'll get back to it.
cool idea. I'm really on this spot at Christmas. I will (have to) learn E-Guitar from ZERO and im 42 years old. Try to learn with 2 childbooks at start and my still good ears. "hopefully it makes FUN" 😂 some helpfull information to "only exercise" My target is that i "can" play blues'n'jazz groovey solos to loops. Very well Christmas time, Greetings Christian
👍Great Idea!!!! Just learn the guitar the other way around. Then you can see for yourself how much is already in your muscle memory. The wiring in your brain is also different. I will try it out for a few days, it will be a very interesting experience and will help me understand how training works.
Justin learned to play left handed and used it to revise his beginner lessons He was surprised how difficult some of the things he included in the beginner courses were and made allowances for it in the rates of progress etc.
Hello :] ive been watching your videos about guitar recommendations and ill probably buy the Ibanez 121SP soon! i was just wondering if you have any thoughts on the Harley Benton 446, its 100€ cheaper and ive heard many reviewers say good things about it, i was just wondering if the Ibanez is 100€ better in terms of quality, thanks :]
I started playing 30 months ago,and I have practiced 90 -120 mins a day if I can.I am also a lefty,and don’t find it difficult to follow my teacher,who is right handed.im now 63,and I started when I was 14,when affordable left handed guitars didn’t exist,so I had to learn to play right handed,which wasn’t easy I must say.
I am a left-handed guitarist and I never realised how unnatural the right-handed guitarists look to me. I always thought ''okay, this seems kinda right, but on the other hand - not at all''. Now I get it, as soon as you picked the guitar left-handed way I understoot what was it all about. I couldn`t realise it while seeing other left-handed guitarists, I needed a right-handed person to do it. I know it is not what you wanted me realise from this video, Elmo, but you did help me realise something, and I am grateful for it!
@@MrPolevaulter Oh, and by the way, what guitar are you using in that video? I know it`s a Harley Benton CST-24T, but I`m curious what color it is. I`m thinking on bying one, but can`t deside wether I sould pay extra for the Paradise flame or will the Amber stripes do fine. Thank you for the video!

big big big NOPE! learning an instrument - or whatever - dosent always make fun. it needs somtimes hard work an endurance. and doesnt make fun at all, but it should always be a JOY to practise! I'll be launching a beginner course there hopefully pretty soon.

Difference was significant by day 14. Awesome demonstration on consistency.
Thanks!
I will try your approach and see how I get on. It cant be worse than just looking at my guitars and sighing wishfully

Also, you get better at focusing over time.

Yeah, it's an eye opener.
Im left handed! And it works for me! Humor! Right handed stuff!? Yäiks! In other words! Its difficult the other way around too!
Excellent ! All beginners (including me) wonder "how long will it take ?" That' a start
Indeed.

I haven't tried that one, sorry.
@@MrPolevaulter Thanks for your reply and the really informative videos! i think ill go for the Ibanez since it has your seal of approval haha :]

Cool experiment! What’s the name of the last song you were trying? I might give that a try with my training
Gonna do the same! It's Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train
Damn seeing a great guitarist struggling feels good xD
😂
@MrPolevaulter 👋🏻👋🏻
You got the batman theme song down 😂
Hahahha is funny to see you in this way.
😂
hlo sir im a biggest fan of yours... ❤❤
can u please review jacson dk3xr x sereies ???
Not being rude but isnt your first name the same that kids show Seasme street there a charater called Elmo ?
Yeah 😊
@@MrPolevaulter I thought so, your just as noisy as Elmo from Seasme street lol
Iff you start playing, each finger say NO! But playing with freinds will be a better start.
At least you got a proper lefty guitar this time. 😉
😂

@Ad-lr4je Paradise flame I think it was.
5 minutes? Never! I am study 10 years 4 hours per day and it’s not enough! I an am not even get close to the level what I want!😅
😀
Learning is a buzz though 😊
Is totally another instrument, not even the guitar you had a notion about, it's alien
Yeah 😀
Michael Angelo Batio, beware!
Dude was that switch?😅
