Eivor and the song is called Trollabundin. This made me extremely happy to see when it popped up as soon as I opened YT. Glad you liked it Sceez. Thank you for checking it. As always much love and many blessings to you and the family. ❤
She is Eivor. The song is a Symphonic version of her song Trøllabundin. She is the greatest vocalist on earth and she was a co-composer for the TV series "The Last Kingdom" with renowned composer John Lunn. She also appeared as an actress in the TV series.
She's stunning! Her name is Eivor. The noises she's making that sounds like beat boxing is part of her culture, as is the throat singing. I would love for you to also check out "Anoana" by Heilung. I believe it's old Norse, and the video is amazing, unlike anything you've ever seen.
@@kel117Lucky you. I couldn't get tickets anymore. Fortunately, Celtic Connections was also in full swing, so there was something that could console me somewhat, but I'm still jealous of you.
I don't know if you know this. But Eivør is from the lonely islands in the middle of the stormy North Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. The islands are called the Faroe Islands. The population of the Faroe Islands and that means also Eivør are direct descendants of the Vikings and of the Celts in Great Britain. The language Eivør often sings in is her Faroese language, which all Faroese on the Faroe Islands speak. It is the old Viking language which is the Faroese's first language, even though the Faroese can speak several languages. Of course, it sounds more authentic with the real Viking language when she sings about Vikings and Viking sagas. Eivør is a fantastic singer with a fantastic and unique voice, who unfortunately does not get the attention and likes on RUclips that she deserves. She has so many great performances and songs that people on youtube should hear. Eivør sings in all seasons of The Last Kingdom and the film The Last Kingdom. She also sings in the Faroese/Viking language in The Last Kingdom and it gives the perfect effect to those watching The Last Kingdom when the Vikings arrive, attack, mourn, etc. Recommend Eivør to others on RUclips so we can see more good reactions from good people on RUclips.
Great, another version of this great song. Eivør makes every single performance unique. This one is even slower than her usual pace, and what mastery over her voice. And the orchestration is subtle but made it even grander Btw, she's from the Faroese Islands, or Farøyar as they're called in the local language, a Danish semi-independent territory, a bit like Porto Rico to the US. Faroese is closest relayed to Icelandic.
So something I learned from reading comments on another reaction video to Eivor performing this song: -She's from the Faroe Islands (off the coast of Ireland) -She sings in Faroese, which is a Germanic language similar to Old Norse -She lives in Iceland And YES, she IS a star!
Saw her on stage in Manchester, England last year and she was amazing. Sounds exactly the same (but better somehow). Absolutely brilliant! Hi from Yorkshire, England
That's very interesting regarding translation, but I believe it is true! Strange that her surname should come from her dad (who she lost some 10 years ago)?... anyway "...dottir" appears so often in Faroese (also Icelandic) surnames.. BUT - I love her, I met her once, and she is a beautiful lady with a good sense of humour! Also recommend to listen to her sister Elinborg!
@@ayreon128 it's called patronymic name system and is used in iceland an the faroe island. no matter if your father (or mother) is alive or death, you are named after them. and you don't give up your name when you get married. pál is her fathers name, dóttir means daughter. so she is the daughter of pál. if her fathers name was högni, for example, her name would be högnadóttir. and it's not uncommon to use a name built on the mothers name. in my case it would be sóleyarson or sóleyardóttir
brief intro: Eivor ( I-vor ) Palsdottir is from the Faroe Islands (off the Scandinavian coast)....she often sings in her beautiful, native Faroese language, which is haunting and medieval in tone....her most viewed song is "Trollabundin or Trodlabundin" (Spellbound) sung in Faroese....there are numerous postings on RUclips....I prefer any of the live versions........Eivor often sings with Einar Selvik of Wardruna (their duet of 'Helvegen' live is magical)........a true 'World Music' diva.......

EXlCELLENT CHOICE AMY. LOVE HEILUNG AND ESPECIALLY THE VIDEO/SONG ANOHANA.
I was lucky enough to see Eivor and Heilung on the same night in Glasgow earlier this year. One of the best concerts i've ever been to.

One piece in this concert had bad ass war horns. Awesome, fierce concert! Thx for this! Peace! ❤

This song is about someone being enchanted by a wizard, and "Trollabundin" literally means spellbound.

Omg I've literally been waiting, like, 8 years (when I first heard it) for someone to react to this 😂 SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS!

Never, and I mean never fight a Valkyrie!
And I was there:)
Eivor Palsdottir is her name. Palsdottir means daughter of Pals.

Get it ❤️🔥
new sub, loved this vid. Eivor is transcendent.
She has definitely embraced the whole viking thing with her look and hairstyles these days as opposed to how she used to look. Im here for it.

helvegen from this concert here is even better
